Black Stone Cherry – S/T (Release Year – 2006)

BSCBlack Stone Cherry is quite simply at the top of my list for best new band in 2006. I discovered these guys only because I saw they were opening for Black Label Society. I found their website, listened to two songs and went out and bought the CD immediately.

The only way I can describe these Kentucky rockers is a cross between Skynyrd and Metallica. They are definitely harder and faster than Skynyrd for those that are wondering.

There are so many great tracks on this CD, I don’t even know where to begin.

My favorites change from day to day, but currently, they are Lonely Train, Violator Girl and Hell or High Water.

This is head banging, heavy southern rock! This CD is so damn good, you need to sign off the net now and get to your local CD shop and pick this up!

I saw them open up for Black Label Society a couple of months ago. They were the first new band that I saw pull of dualing guitar solos behind their heads. That blew me away.

I hope these guys stay around for a long time. I like that they respect their Kentucky roots. Being a fellow Kentuckian, I will support these guys for a long time.

I absolutely adore these guys. They had me hooked from the first note I heard them play. I definitely agree about them being one of the best new bands of 2006 and highly recommend everyone I know to pick up their CD. I would suggest everyone catching one of their shows… Even if your iffy about them right now. Their live performance will definitely win you over!

I don’t know if I would go so far as Grunge. I couldn’t put these guys in the same list as Nirvana, Soundgarden, or Pearl Jam.

I can agree that this may not be the band for everybody, but its a nice mix of styles that makes this band appealing.

They have four tracks that you can hear at their myspace page at http://www.myspace.com/blackstonecherry

I went to their web page after reading your reviuw and to me they sound like a grunge band, aggggghhhhh. Yes, they have some slow Metallica riffs but thats it. No, not my band but i respect everybody of course. HAIL.
