The Descent – DVD Review
OK, I have been slacking on the horror movie reviews. Now that the holidays have settled down, I may have to take the time to catch a few more of them now.
The Descent is the second major film directed by Neil Marshall. If Neil keeps directing films like this one, he will be on his way to Hollywood’s A-List.
The Descent features an unknown cast:
Shauna Macdonald, Natalie Jackson Mendoza, Alex Reid, Saskia Mulder, MyAnna Buring, Nora-Jane Noone. Does that stop this from being a great film? Not at all.
The Descent is one of those movies that will make you jump (and does so quickly), and will keep you on the edge of your seat.
The premise of the story is this: A bunch of female friends reunite for extreme adventures each year. The focus in the Descent is their spelunking trip into an unnamed, unmapped cave system. Without giving away too much. Lets just say that they find a lot more adventure(hehehe) than they bargained for.
This movie surprised me greatly. It has been a long time since a movie has made me jump. The Descent does this easily, and unexpectedly.
Horror Fans need to rent this one quick. It is very good!

I loved this movie though I never got to see it in the theatre.
I don’t jump at movies cause I know whats gonna happen.
>Person gets stalked>Suspensfull music plays>Murderer grabs victum and splits their head open or slits their throat> end of suspense.
But this movie was different at one point in the beggining of the movie, (the car scene) [I’m just saying that so as not to give spoilers away] it made me jolt alittle, and my dad was laughing at me for jumping.
It sure got my adrenaline going thats for sure. Great, great movie.
The cool think about this movie is, it made me jump out of my chair quick. At that point, I had to pause the movie and go pop some popcorn. I knew it was going to be a decent flick after that.
bring that shit on… I’ve been reviewing a lot of Anchor Bay releases in my column in AMP that I’m falling behind these others…I really wanted to see this one in the theater
