St. James – Americanman (Release Year – 2003)

St James - AmericanmanST. James is the 2001 project of Black ‘N Blue and Warrant lead singer Jamie St. James.

I enjoyed the new Warrant disc so much, that I decided to see what else I could find from Jamie St. James.

I was hoping that Americanman would be something comparable to Black ‘N Blue or Warrant, but sadly, this is not the case. I can’t put my finger on it, but I could not get into this like I have so many others from Jamie’s discography. I don’t know if it is the writing, or the music style, but this disc just didn’t live up to my expectations.

Don’t get me wrong. Americanman isn’t terrible, by any means, but after listening to Warrant’s Born Again a few times and Nasty Nasty by Black ‘N Blue, this disc doesn’t live up to either of those. I kept waiting for a cool anthem to jump out at me, and it didn’t happen.

This is a disc for the Jamie St. James die hards only!

I have this album and i agree with ya dude. They must not have had much of a budget for it because the vocals sound like something that would be on a demo. The only song i like and sounds somewhat similar to BNB is “Testify”, i would have never guessed Jamie St. James was singing on the rest of the album.
