Ozzy Osbourne – Under Cover (Release Year – 2005)
The Ozzman Coverth…….and not very well!
I often wonder why established artists like Ozzy Osbourne subject themselves to full cover albums. Does Ozzy really need the money that badly? Ozzy’s Under Cover CD only left me scratching my head.
Most of these tracks were previously released in the Prince of Darkness box set.
Unfortunately, they released this compilation as a a separate CD for those of us that found the price point on the box set too steep. Sadly, they should have stayed there.
I have nothing against Ozzy. I think he is a hard rock/ heavy metal legend. With that being said, this is not the kind of material that I would expect to hear from. Most of the tracks on this CD are performed better by the original artists.
There are a couple of stand out tracks on this CD ( Mississippi Queen, 21st Century Schizoid Man), but most of the material on this CD is pointless.
Mississippi Queen
Two decent tracks out of thirteen, and dismal track listing at that. This is a CD for those trying fill their Ozzy collections and nothing more. I doubt you will spin it twice.

We Ozz-fans here here in Russia think that what Ozzy did on this album was nothing but shit! We believe it should better have been a weak album with his own compositions. We would have all lived with that … Too bad Ozzy lost 6 precious years of his career between Down to Earth in 2001 and Black Rain in 2007!
I didn’t play the cd much more than a couple times, I admitt it.But being a Beatle/Lennon fan, as is Ozzy,I dug the 3 covers he did from them.
Yes, it does leave you scratching your head a bit, although I thought the Sympathy for the Devil cover was decent. It’s not about the money, I’m sure Ozzy thought he was doing some kind of old school homage to his past heros. Then again, who the hell can really tell what Ozzy is thinking at any moment?
I’m always skeptical of cover albums, but this one was still shockingly bad. Still, I don’t think we should expect much from Ozzy these days. His new album is terrible (unless of course you compare it to this!).
Like Rene, I got it with the box set. Played it once, waste of time.
Totaly agree, most of this is just pointless. I bought it with the PRINCE OF DARKNESS box just for this cd (because i already had the rest of the songs on vinyl/cd´s). I thought this cd was only possible to have with this box set. How wrong i was. Anyway, when i played it, it was so bad. I realy only love FIRE from ARTHUR BROWN. I love the original song and i think OZZY does a great job on this one but the rest sucks!!!!!!!!!!!
