Lana Lane – Covers Collection (Release Year – 2003)
In 2003, singer Lana Lane released her own collection of cover tunes.
On this disc she is joined by Gregg Bissonette on drums (David Lee Roth), Tony Franklin on bass (The Firm, Blue Murder), Erik Norlander on keyboards , Mark McCrite (Rocket Scientists) on guitar and Novi Novog on viola.
Other notable guests on this disc include Arjen Lucassen, Nick D’Virgilio and Neil Citron.
If you haven’t ever heard Lana Lane before, she is an excellent singer who has a sound quite similar to Ann Wilson of Heart. The songs on this disc were largely chosen from requests by fans and friends over the years, and the ultimate criterion for their inclusion was that they were all extremely melodic and memorable tracks.
There are some very cool covers on this disc including TNT’s Northern Lights, Scorpions Still Loving You, Giant’s I’ll See You in My Dreams, and Rainbow’s Stargazer.
The music on all of the songs on Covers Collection is very good. It is very interesting to hear Lana’s take on songs that were originally sung by male vocalists.
Still Lovin’ You
Stargazer
This disc has a huge asking price on Amazon.com, but can sometimes be found on EBay for a much more reasonable sum. It is an interesting listen, and a worthy one as far as cover albums go.
