The Answer – Rise – Special Edition (Release Year – 2007)
When I initially purchased a copy of The Answer’s disc Rise, I downloaded it off of ITunes to save the expense of importing the disc. When the news came across that the Answer was re-releasing the CD in June of 2007 with a 2nd Bonus CD, with B-Sides and 5 new songs, I knew that I would not be able to hold off on buying this disc any longer.
I reviewed the initial release here. After a few months of listening to this first CD, I probably should have rated this disc higher. Rise continues to stay in my play list months after I first purchased it.
The thing that is completely mind-boggling to me is, the United States has not yet got to know the awesome band, as they do not have a U.S. distribution deal. Any band that is armed with so many great songs and videos should be playing on U.S. soil. This collection of tunes is strong enough to garner multi-platinum success for this band.
Under the Sky
Never Too Late
Come Follow Me
Be What You Want
This new release only solidifies what I already knew. The Answer is one of the best new rock bands out there.
The new songs are great, and the inclusion of Keep Believin’ from the 2005 EP is extremely cool.
Keep Believin’
I Won’t Let You Down is another Answer style rock anthem that could easily support another single and video. The cover of Aerosmith’s Sweet Emotion is fantastic. While staying true to the original, Cormac Neeson handles the vocals of Steven Tyler quite well. The track Doctor has plenty of bluesy swagger, and So Cold has such a good beat that it could get the ladies out on the dance floor.
The songs Not Listening and Take it Easy have plenty of Led Zeppelin influence on them and are equally great.
If you haven’t picked up The Answer disc Rise yet, pick up the Special Edition version. The second disc gives you plenty of new tunes to listen to, on top of the superb original release. If you like classic hard rock, The Answer has the rock cd for you. Classic Rock Magazine calls this the “Best Debut Rock album of the decade“. I don’t disagree with that statement. The Answer has out done themselves with this collection! You can find the Rise – Special Edition at CD Universe. Go Get it! You wont be disappointed!

I’m a Northern Ireland man myself, but, the truth is i had no idea where these lads hailed from when I first fell in love with their sound. A gig of theirs in Mandella Hall in Belfast that I attended a few months ago absolutely blew me away. At the risk of repeating a lot of what others have said here – this band produce raw, unfettered energy the entire time they are on stage. Cormac is constantly animated and a joy to watch – think a young Ian Gillan and you won’t be too far off – and the band are as tight as they come. If the chance arises for any of you to see them, snap it up with both hands! meantime, get your hands on “Rise”.
Glad you like em Metalman. They are definitely one of my favorites!
my jaw dropped when I heard the first song! Man this band is great! and for $9.99 on iTunes you get over 20 songs! Sweet deal. Thanks for the recommendation. That is 3 outta 3 of perfect recommendations for me. The first two being Airbourne and Bang Camaro…
They have got signed by a US label

Agree with all of your statements.
They are gonna be big!!
Seen them live and met all of the band. AMAZING
I first saw THE ANSWER playing a support slot in a small club in Cardiff, some time ago that was I’ll tell ya.
But they Blew not only me away, but the friends I’d taken with me!!.
Now this will let on just how old my friends and I are.
When at the end of their set, one of my friends turned to me and said…………..” Oh My God that was like watching Led Zep at the ROUND HOUSE !!! ”
Praise indeed.
The Answer just get better and better each time I see them play live. Energy Filled, blues Fueled Rock’n’Roll delivered with a passion not seen in a long long time.
Are they the best thing to come out of Ireland since the Potatoe or that Black Beer ??
I’d say a BIG FAT YES !!!
But You’ll just have to see for yourselves
They Are A MUST SEE LIVE BAND !!!!!!

I couldn’t agree with you more Pascal!
Yes I am glad this band is there for the sake of rock. What will be left when AC/DC, Aerosmith, KISS, The Stones etc call it quits? Right: THE ANSWER !
We need to all spread the word, that way a US distribution is just a matter of time. I have a friend in San Francisco who fucking loved it and he fances dance music more !
If not any record company in the USA picks them up they are fuckin’ IDIOTS in my opinion !

Now you knew I’d respond to this review didn’t you! I reviewed the original disc last week as a prequel to finally seeing the band live at Chepstow Castle this weekend. The original CD I bought on release based on the vinyl singles they put out but its all taken on a greater dimension after seeing them live. The power and intensity of this young four piece is awesome.
I am amazed that they don’t have a US deal as this band really could break big there. Surely they arn’t going to join the long list of British bands that didn’t get a look-in in the States?
A great album in my opinion and one I rated as “Excellent” on my site.
