Cats in Boots – Kicked & Klawed (Released – 1989)
Cats in Boots is an American/Japanese sleaze metal bland. Their debut release on EMI, Kicked & Klawed hit # 3 on the Japanese charts, but crashed and burned everywhere else.
There were a couple of videos on MTV for the songs Shot Gun Sally and Her Monkey, but this release got lost in a sea other big hair rock that was released at the time. Kicked & Klawed is a very solid release that is often over looked.
Lead Singer, Joel Ellis reminds me a lot of a young Vince Neil. Takashi “Jam” O’Hashi proves to be a very solid guitarist. Not surprisingly, the music isn’t too much of a stretch past Motley Crue’s music, but it is a very good listen. My favorite tracks include Shot Gun Sally, Nine Lives, Her Monkey, and Evil Angel.

Singer Joel Ellis, still maintains catsinboots.com, but is not recording any new music today. Drummer Randy Meers last turned up in band called Trampled Underfoot.
Guitarist Takashi “Jam” O’Hashi has been releasing solo CD’s in Japan.
Kicked and Klawed has been out of print for several years now, and has been pulling down twenty to thirty dollars on Ebay each time it shows. It is a solid sleaze metal disc that is still worth seeking out.

i love it! ive never been able to get it imported to NZ though and I think its out of print? got a download but its not the same as having the actual CD for me
I have this on vinyl. It’s good, but not aything terribly special.
