New York Trip – Part 4 – Times Square

RJD ForkAfter our time on top of the Empire State Building, we headed to tourist trap #2, Times Square. I can’t image any place on earth that has so much digital signage, neon signs, and advertisements. It is quite the spectacle. We were there in the early afternoon, so I could not see the night time glow, but it was still pretty impressive.

As you can see from the picture to the left, Ronnie James Dio has made his mark in New York City. The Devil Horn / Fork sign is outside the Hard Rock Cafe in Times Square.

We had our trade offs in Times Square, we promised my stepdaughter that we would go to Toys R Us in Times Square.

My request was that we had to hit the Virgin Record Store which was right next door.

The Toys R Us store in Times Square has to be the biggest Toy Store Anywhere. This store has multiple floors, and huge displays. Shoppers entering the store are greeted with a huge Ferris Wheel, and an almost amusement park like environment. It was quite an amazing store. I never expected to come face to face with a 20 foot animated T-Rex. Very cool indeed! Check out the video below!

This movie requires Adobe Flash for playback.

VirginThe Virgin Record Store was equally as big as Toys R Us. It was 3 floors of music, movies and mayhem. I was quite surprised at how good the hard rock selection was there. They even had JORN on the shelf as an import. (Something I have never seen anywhere.) Someone like me could get lost in a big store like that, never to be seen again. ;)

Just walking around in Times Square was pretty amazing. It was a sight worth seeing, and a great place to shop and eat. Television just doesn’t do it justice.

Below are more pictures and video that I shot in Times Square. Enjoy!
