I must admit that it has been a long time since I took the Funk-O-Metal Carpet Ride with the Electric Boys. I was flipping through my CD’s the other day, and decided to let this disc breathe again for the first time in ages. I used to be fairly fond of this band, but it has been a very long time since I have played this disc.
At one point in time, nearly 2 decades ago, All Lips N’ Hips was a staple on the MTV Headbanger’s Ball, as well as the Z-Rock Syndicated Radio Station.
You can check the video for All Lips N’ Hips below:
Conny Bloom does an excellent job on vocals and on the lead guitar. Bassist Andy Christell takes the songs to a whole new level. Some of the song lyrics are kind of cheesy, i.e. ” I wish I had a car to drive”, but the music is very good. Most of the songs have a funky bass groove, that is completely infectious. Both Bloom and Christell are now members of the Finnish band, Hanoi Rocks. This gives me high hopes for that bands’ new disc, Street Poetry, due out in September, will be a very good one.
Funk-O-Metal Carpet ride is a very positive, upbeat record. The tunes are fun to listen to. My current favorites are Psychedelic Eyes, All Lips N’ Hips, and Rags to Riches.
The only way you will find this disc now is as an expensive import, or a cheap used copy on Ebay or Amazon.com. It is a good disc, and worth seeking out.
