Atreyu have filmed a 5-part video series documenting the recording process of their new album, Lead Sails Paper Anchor, due out August 28th. Atreyu teamed with producer John Feldmann (The Used, Good Charlotte) on the follow-up to A Death-Grip On Yesterday. The third and fourth installments of the video series take a look at bassist Mark McKnight’s approach to his bass tracking and back-up vocals, while the fifth installment focuses around lead guitarist Dan Jacobs melting his fret board throughout his recording session on Lead Sails Paper Anchor.

Earlier this week, I found more on Lacey online.
No, it isn’t another porn star this time. Lacey Conner, one of the 10 finalists on Rock of Love, is a singer of the Industrial band Nocturne. Check out their myspace page here.
Lacy also has a video on You Tube that was released in 2006, for her song, This Thing Called Love. Another video is online with her perfoming the song (don’t laugh) “Whore”, with her band Nocturne.

There were a couple of videos on MTV for the songs Shot Gun Sally and Her Monkey, but this release got lost in a sea other big hair rock that was released at the time. Kicked & Klawed is a very solid release that is often over looked.
Lead Singer, Joel Ellis reminds me a lot of a young Vince Neil. Takashi “Jam” O’Hashi proves to be a very solid guitarist. Not surprisingly, the music isn’t too much of a stretch past Motley Crue’s music, but it is a very good listen. My favorite tracks include Shot Gun Sally, Nine Lives, Her Monkey, and Evil Angel.
Shot Gun Sally
Singer Joel Ellis, still maintains catsinboots.com, but is not recording any new music today. Drummer Randy Meers last turned up in band called Trampled Underfoot.
Guitarist Takashi “Jam” O’Hashi has been releasing solo CD’s in Japan.
Kicked and Klawed has been out of print for several years now, and has been pulling down twenty to thirty dollars on Ebay each time it shows. It is a solid sleaze metal disc that is still worth seeking out.

Down For Five are graduates of the 2007 Rocklahoma Music Festival. This Tulsa based 4 piece band were winners of the Jpot Music contest and took the stage in front of thousands of people at the massive music festival.
I wasn’t fortunate enough to attend the festival, but I heard a lot of good things about this band, and decided to check them out.
Time Has Come has plenty of great tunes to make most Metal heads smile. This CD has a classic metal feel to it, and yet it still sounds modern enough to appeal to all generations of rock fans. I keep wanting to compare this as a mixture between Metal Church and Fates Warning, but that is probably not a good description of Down For Five’s sound. Nonetheless, I like the sound of this group.
Singer Syke Mochek can sing well but he can also bust out the metal snarl and screams. It is a very good balance between the two. Lead Guitarist, Janna Jordan’s back up vocals give the songs more melodies, and add a dimension to the tunes, that you will hear with few too little Metal acts today. The thing I like the most is the guitar playing of Jordan. Down For Five isn’t a band that just hides behind the distortion of 3 chord Metal. Janna Jordan has plenty of good guitar licks, that will put smiles on the faces of even the most anal of metalheads.
Don’t believe me?! Check out the video below for the song Senses, and see for yourself!
Down For Five has made a believer out of me. My only problem with Time Has Come is there aren’t enough tunes. I need more! Eight is not enough! I enjoyed this disc quite a bit, and will be listening to this CD to get my metal fix over the next few months.

HIM has launched the video for their new single, “Kiss of Dawn.” HIM will release their brand new album, Venus Doom, on September 18th via Sire Records. You can preview the video in its entirety on the below:
You can buy the ‘Kiss Of Dawn’ single now at all digital stores including iTunes. Also pre-order your copy of Venus Doom now at, http://heartagram.com/venusdoom/.
This disc was produced, recorded and mixed by Michael Wagener (Ozzy, Dokken, Metallica, Motley Crue) which explains the near perfect sound on this disc.
Alice Cooper has a very good band backing him up on this release: Kane Roberts on guitar, Kip Winger on bass, Ken Mary on drums, and Paul Horowitz on keyboards.
This is definitely 80’s style metal, but it is lacking a lot (but not all) of the cheese found on his late 80’s releases, Trash and Hey Stoopid.
Kane Roberts guitar work on this disc is very good. There is plenty of solos to sink your teeth into. Kip Winger surprises me how good he is on bass here. I can hear some of the bass sounds that are commonplace on the future Winger discs here.
Most of lyrics are fairly simple on this record, but that is ok, as the songs are definitely rocking!
The opening track Freedom just explodes on this disc. This is very cool stuff!
Lock Me Up keeps the energy going with an upbeat rocker, with a sing along chorus. This is a fun song.
Give the Radio Back is a song that is kind of silly, yet terribly infectious. I bet you will find yourself singing “give the radio back to the maniac” in no time.
One of the songs that has got a lot of repeated plays from me is Step on You. Kane Roberts has some very tasty guitar licks on this song.
Not That Kind of Love has this killer bass groove that will get you headbanging in no time. Great Stuff!
Another song that seems to jump out at me every time is Prince of Darkness. This is another song that is very catchy.
Time to Kill is another solid track with excellent guitar work by Kane Roberts.
I can deal with a goofy tune now and then, but Chop, Chop, Chop might be a little bit too silly, even for me.
Gail is a horror like, keyboard driven tune, that doesn’t really add anything to Raise Your Fist and Yell, except to cement Alice Cooper’s love of the horror element into the music.
Roses on White Lace isn’t the best album closer, but it is listenable. The chorus is kind of catchy, and the music is good.
As a whole, I have enjoyed Raise Your Fist and Yell. It is a good CD, and one that is still worth picking up in 2007.
This disc is still in print, and can be purchased at Amazon.com for less than $10.00. At that price, this disc is a steal. If you don’t own this one, check it out. I think you will like it. I am surprised that I didn’t buy this one up sooner. This is must own for 80’s hard rock and hair metal fans.
Special thanks to Metal Mark who suggested this disc to me.
