THE BLACK CROWES TO RELEASE
FIRST STUDIO ALBUM OF ALL NEW MATERIAL IN SEVEN YEARS
DUE OUT MARCH 4 ON THEIR OWN SILVER ARROW RECORDS LABEL,
DISTRIBUTED BY MEGAFORCE/SONY RED BMG
BAND TO PERFORM ‘WARPAINT’ IN ITS ENTIRETY ON LIMITED
“ONE NIGHT ONLY” SWING
From the beginning, THE BLACK CROWES have done things their own way. And it’s good to know that some things don’t change.
WARPAINT—the band’s first album of all-new studio material in seven years, due out March 4 worldwide—will be independently released on the band’s own newly formed Silver Arrow Records and distributed through Megaforce/Sony Red BMG. It’s their first studio release since the acclaimed LIONS album in 2001 (on V2).
Produced and mixed by Paul Stacey at Allaire Studios, Woodstock, NY, the album features 11 songs, all of which were written by CHRIS and RICH ROBINSON, except “God’s Got It” by the Reverend Charlie Jackson. The album builds compellingly on the band’s trademark adventurous brew of rock, blues, country, soul and gospel.
WARPAINT marks the recording debut of two new band members—guitarist Luther Dickinson and keyboardist Adam MacDougall–who join CHRIS and RICH and drummer Steve Gorman and bassist Sven Pipien. Dickinson, of North Mississippi Allstars, officially steps in to replace producer/guitarist Paul Stacey, whose position with the band was always intended to be temporary. THE BLACK CROWES are deeply appreciative that Stacey committed his genuine talent and time to the band and their performances for most of 2007.
The album’s complete track listing is: “Goodbye Daughters of the Revolution,” “Walk Believer Walk,” “O, Josephine,” “Evergreen,” “We Who See The Deep,” “Locust Street,” “Movin’ On Down The Line,” “Wounded Bird,” “God’s Got It,” “There’s Gold In Them Hills,” and “Whoa Mule.”
CHRIS says the album’s title signifies “the revolution that could take place in all our souls.”
Meanwhile, for the first time in their 18-year career, THE BLACK CROWES will perform an album of theirs in its entirety. On a special run of “One Night Only” shows beginning on March 4, fans will experience WARPAINT performed in its entirety, after which the band will play songs from their catalog and selected surprises. Dates TBA.
THE BLACK CROWES will begin their world tour March 24 by headlining the Byron Bay Festival in Australia. They’ll continue their down under trek—their first since 1991—through April 5 before playing special engagements in Tokyo, Amsterdam and London, and concluding with shows in Hamburg and Cologne, Germany (dates TBA).
THE BLACK CROWES have sold over 20 million albums and are known as one of rock’s best live acts. They have been called“The Most Rock n’ Roll Rock ‘n’ Roll Band In the World” and a “thoroughbred American rock ‘n’ freakin’ roll band”; their panoramic live shows feature alternating set lists and signature incendiary musical explorations. Surviving New York Dolls members, David Johansen, and Sylvain Sylvain, were joined by bassist Sami Yaffa (Hanoi Rocks), guitarist Steve Conte (Crown Jewels), drummer Brian Delaney and keyboardist Brian Koonin.
Usually reunion records scare me off, but I couldn’t pass up on checking out the latest disc by a band that I consider the godfathers of glam. Amazingly, this record does not disappoint. It is one solid record from beginning to end. This disc has a big classic rock sound, with upbeat songs that are pleasingly good.
The band even released a couple of videos for this record, which I doubt you ever got to see, if you live in the United States.
Dance Like a Monkey
Get Away from Tommy
This record will please all New York Dolls fans, and quite a few people that are interested in checking out this band for the first time. This isn’t a hard rock record by any means, but it is a very good rock and roll record, and deserves to be heard by all glam fans!

Discovered by Mark Alger a few months ago SCREAM IN EDEN’s debut entitled” Original Sin” will be released on January 28th 2008 and is essential for fans of Tesla, Dokken and Babylon AD.
Over the past week we have ran a special anonymous preview at www.myspace.com/zrockrecordsuk with amazing feedback, if you haven’t yet checked out the two tracks by the band do so now you will be impressed!
Featured around the fantastic vocals of Joe Dokken and the guitar work of White Cross Axeman Rex Carroll, SCREAM IN EDEN are set to make 2008 their year.
HRH note: Check out the tunes at the myspace page…..they ROCK!!
New glam metal from nearly every country on the planet continues to show up at the Hard Rock Hideout. The new release by the S.E.X. Department from Perris Records is the first that has come from Italy.
The S.E.X. Department has a sound that I would compare to early Motley Crue, mixed with Pretty Boy Floyd. For a three piece band, they have a decent sound.
Something about this release reminds me of the rawness of Motley Crue’s debut. This disc is not as strong as Too Fast For Love, but it is a pretty good cut of glam tunes for these Italian rockers.
Kelly Trash Mendess vocals are not overpowering, but are well suited for the tunes here. The best cuts on this disc are Revenge of the Vampires, Glitter Bitter, Sir Yes Sir and ,S.E.X. Department.
The band’s sound could be greatly enhanced with a second guitar player and more background vocals. That may be all that S.E.X. Department needs to push them over the top. This CD is a solid debut for S.E.X. Department. This disc should be enough to gain them a whole new slew of fans, and help the band build success for a more powerful sophomore effort.

3 to tour with Dream Theater, Opeth, and Between the Buried and Me on the Progressive Nation tour!!!
Just off the heals of completing two very successful tours, one with the Scorpions and the other with Porcupine Tree, Woodstock NY’s 3 have now just confirmed a spot on Progressive Nation’s inaugural tour! 3 will be joining Dream Theater, Opeth, and Between the Buried and Me on the first ever run of the Progressive Nation tour and are sure to turn heads with their unique blend of pop, funk and hard rock.
The tour is the brainchild of DREAM THEATER drummer Mike Portnoy who explains: “I’ve been wanting to assemble a package tour like this for many years now. With all of the festivals and package tours that go through America, I’ve been talking with our manager and agent for over 10 years now about doing something that focuses on the more progressive, musician-oriented side of hard rock and metal. I decided it was time to stop talking the talk, lace up and finally walk the walk”
Here’s what 3 had to say about being one of the bands on this prestigious tour: “3 is very pleased to announce its participation in the PROGRESSIVE NATION tour. For well over a decade DREAM THEATER has been the vanguard of progressive rock and we are completely psyched to flex with these heavyweights, playing much of our new record “The End is Begun”. This package will rock and awe fans everywhere as one of the most important tours of the year. It’s a progressive way of music, a progressive way of life….welcome to the PROGRESSIVE NATION tour.”
ON FEBRUARY 19, METAL BLADE RECORDING ARTISTS 3 ARE SET TO RELEASE THEIR SOPHOMORE MASTERPIECE “THE END IS BEGUN” WITH BONUS TRACK AND BONUS DVD
Woodstock, NY’s progressive rock geniuses 3, proudly announce their highly acclaimed sophomore release, The End is Begun, will be re-released as a digipak on February 19, 2008. The audio CD will feature the 13 previously released explosive, mind boggling tracks as well as a bonus track; 3’s spin on the classic Pink Floyd song, “See Emily Play”…which will be track #14 on the audio disc. The bonus DVD will feature live performances of the songs: ‘Monster’, ‘Bramfatura’ and ‘Amaze Disgrace’ (all songs from the band’s previous Metal Blade records release, Wake Pig) from the Metal Blade 25th Anniversary show from Worcester, Massachusetts. Production videos of the songs, ‘All that Remains’ and ‘Alien Angel’ will also be included on the bonus DVD.
3 will partake in the ‘Progressive Nation’ tour featuring progressive rock legends, Dream Theater; Sweden’s finest death metallers in Opeth; as well as acclaimed metal act Between the Buried and Me. Dates for the tour will be announced shortly and will be just in time after the February 19, 2008 release of The End is Begun digipak.
Rok Hollywood is a glam metal band on the rise, from Indianapolis, Indiana. The last couple of years the band has been growing their fan base, by playing at the 2006 Cruefest in Hollywood, CA which featured bands like Vains of Jenna, Antidote (Dirty Penny), Kid Ego, and Miss Crazy. Rok Hollywood has also opened for several marquee acts including: Ratt, Poison, Black Stone Cherry, Cinderella, L.A. Guns and Lynyrd Skynyrd.
They are a band on the rise on MTV2, and with a little luck could become a household name in the glam metal scene before long.
The band has allowed HardRockHideout.com to have a glimpse at their yet unreleased DVD. This disc captures a live show by Rok Hollywood, in which they opened for L.A Guns at the 8 Seconds Saloon in Indianapolis. I was at this show, but due to traffic, I missed all but the last few minutes of the band’s performance. Based on what I have watched on this DVD, Rok Hollywood puts on one hell of a show. This DVD captures several of the Rok Hollywood’s original tracks, and a couple of cover tunes that the band performed live. Singer Shawn Merrill has a voice that falls somewhere between Dave Meniketti and Sebastian Bach. Guitarist David Short proves to be a very solid six stringer. His brother, drummer Daren Short is his equal on the skins. The band is rounded out nicely by guitarist Mike Rubadue, and new bass player, Aaron Lanane.
This DVD is not the finished product, as the band is going to capture more live footage, and interviews etc, to enhance this DVD. It is an entertaining set, and will be a worthy pick up for glam metal fans once the final product is released.
Until then, show Rok Hollywood some love, by checking out their myspace page, and pick up a copy of their CD. Just click on the logo below, or visit www.myspace.com/rokhollywood

Never Enough, featuring ex-members of Eighteen Visions and Lylah, have streamed their entire debut album at the following location: http://www.altsounds.com/altsounds/bands/5107/playallhi.php
Never Enough will release their debut, self-titled album (“1.0″) in North America on December 4th, 2007 via Corporate Punishment Records. The band is continuing to offer fans a FREE Never Enough t-shirt to those who pre-order the album through the Corporate Punishment website at the following location: http://www.corporatepunishment.com/shop/index.php?manufacturers_id=28
A perpetually touring underground favorite, Eighteen Visions released 6 full length LP’s and a string of EP’s and 7 inches, racking up sales well in excess of a quarter million records, before announcing their break-up in early 2007, less than a year after releasing their Epic/Sony debut 18Visions, which debuted in the Billboard top 200, selling over 12,000 copies the first week. 18V also spawned the Top 20 Rock single “Victim”, which led to successful worldwide tours with the likes of Avenged Sevenfold, Killswitch Engage, HIM, Deftones and Hinder.
Texas based Lylah, the brainchild of vocalist/guitarist Norman Matthew, have since become an underground phenomenon of their own, touring with the likes of Evanescence, Static-X, Sevendust and as a part of the Vans Warped Tour.
Get an inside look into Black Tide as Gabriel, Alex, Zakk and Steven talk about their influences, the Ozzfest rollercoaster ride, and the forthcoming album Light From Above. The video showcases some killer live footage and behind the scenes clips of the band skate boarding, hanging out and gearing up for shows.
Black Tide’s two-song EP is available now at Hot Topic. The full length debut Light From Above will be in stores February 2008.
The glam punk band, the Towers of London has been doing extremely well in the UK, but in the United States, if you mentioned the Towers of London band, you would get the infamous, deer in the headlight look.
It is a shame too, as this band, that was heavily influenced by the New York Dolls, have crafted a disc that was clearly one of the best of 2006.
This disc is quite unlike so much of the rock that I listen to today. This is also the reason why I find the Towers of London so appealing. The Towers of London have a sound that reminds me of the Sex Pistols quite a bit. The tunes on this record are more of the punk variety, but they most definitely rock hard.
As you can see below, the band has several videos for their album, Blood, Sweat, and Towers. I won’t give you a song by song breakdown, but you can hear quite a few of the songs yourself. If you like what you hear and see below, go pick up a copy of the disc today! I like this record, and I think you will too!

Today’s Video Showdown puts the Metal band Overkill against Avenged Sevenfold.
It seems that there is some logo infringement between the bands Overkill, and Avenged Sevenfold. Overkill has been using the flying bat skull logo since their 1988 release, Under the Influence.
Meanwhile, the flying bat skull started showing up on Avenged Sevenfold covers in 2003, with the A7X’s release, Waking the Fallen.

EXTREME REJOIN FORCES FOR NEW ALBUM AND TOUR IN 2008
EXTREME are set to return in the spring of 2008 with their first album of all new material in 13 years. The band features original members NUNO BETTENCOURT (guitar), GARY CHERONE (vocals) and PAT BADGER (bass), along with new drummer KEVIN FIGUEIREDO.
In the coming weeks, EXTREME will announce their plans for a world tour in 2008 as well as a release date and label for the as yet untitled album, which is being produced by BETTENCOURT, who says: “It will have all the ingredients of an EXTREME record. The music is always Funkier than most rock bands—and born a Bipolar Bastard child of Mr. Zeppelin and Mrs. Beatles.”
The Grammy-nominated EXTREME have released four albums, plus two greatest hits sets—selling over 10 million records worldwide—and completed multiple world tours. They also achieved a 1 hit single, “More Than Words”—from their 1990 multi-platinum album Extreme II: Pornograffitti—on the Billboard Hot 100, which they followed with the Top Five “Hole Hearted.” Although these two acoustic hits brought the band great mainstream success, it overshadowed the band’s trademark sound: a mix of hard rock funk in the spirit and style of their predecessors Led Zeppelin, Aerosmith, Queen and Van Halen—fueled by BETTENCOURT’s signature guitar flights and CHERONE’s resonant vocals—and matched with a social consciousness in their lyrics. A career highlight came for EXTREME when Queen’s Brian May asked them to perform at the Freddie Mercury Tribute concert in 1992, which gave the band considerable credibility beyond the hard rock fraternity.
EXTREME have been introduced to a new generation of music fans who are connecting with the band through MySpace as a result of the inclusion of their song “Play With Me” on 2007’s “Guitar Hero” video game. Outside of EXTREME, CHERONE joined Van Halen as lead singer in 1998, co-writing the Van Halen III album and touring the world with them. BETTENCOURT joined up with Jane’s Addiction front man Perry Farrell to form the band Satellite Party and co-produce their album Ultra Payloaded. Satellite Party also consisted of drummer KEVIN FIGUIEREDO, whom was previously in a band with BETTENCOURT called Dramagods.
Through the years, BETTENCOURT and CHERONE have remained close and continued to collaborate on occasion. But what exactly inspired them to rejoin forces as EXTREME?
“Rock and Roll Famine…I know it might sound crazy, but there is a massive shortage of rock and roll on this planet,” says BETTENCOURT. “It’s almost extinct. I mean the true spirit of quality rock and roll—you know, Musicianship, when you would give up every moment of your day to master your instrument and create your own identity and sound so as to respectfully outdo all your past heroes whilst proudly wearing the badge of their influences.”
“Passion,” says BETTENCOURT, is what drives EXTREME. “To do whatever it takes, with integrity, to bring music to the people, not because of fame…but just cause you simply couldn’t wait to share it with them.”
“We realized,” adds BETTENCOURT, “not only are the people starved for rock and roll…So are we. Let’s eat.”
Look for the Boston-based group to perform Saturday, December 1 at the Boston Music Awards at the Orpheum Theatre.
Here is Extreme’s video for Get The Funk Out!
QUIET RIOT drummer Frankie Banali has confirmed the passing of the group’s singer, Kevin DuBrow, at the age of 52. In an e-mail to Spain’s The Metal Circus, which had requested a comment from Banali on the rumors of DuBrow‘s death, the drummer wrote, “I can’t even find words to say. Please respect my privacy as I mourn the passing and honor the memory of my dearest friend Kevin DuBrow.” UPDATE: The same statement can now be found on Frankie Banali‘s official web site.
Michael Politz of The Vegas Eye reported earlier today that DuBrow was found dead in his Las Vegas home on Sunday, November 25. According to Politz, DubRow — whom Politz calls “one of my closest friends” — recently celebrated his 52nd birthday in New Orleans “where he ate great food and even caught THE CULT at The House of Blues.”
Although the band has yet to issue an official statement on the matter, bassist Kelly Garni, who was one of the founding members of QUIET RIOT, has posted the following message on the Randy Rhoads (late QUIET RIOT/OZZY OSBOURNE guitarist) web site RandyRhoads.tk:
“I ask this to all of you not only for myself but for other friends and family. I ask that no one here offer any speculation or opinions, theories or other things that could be construed as negative or, and I’m sorry for this, even sympathetic, right at this immediate time. I am already within hours of this having to deal with untrue rumors and speculation and that only adds fuel to that. There is a tendency for the subject of Kevin to incite flames on every board and now is not the time for that. I will explain to everyone here the facts and the truth in the next 24 to 48 hours as I realize this will effect us all. So please, until then, be patient. All details and other pertinate info will be passed on to you here when it becomes available to me. Thank you.”
In 2004, DuBrow recorded a collection of cover versions for his first solo album, “In for the Kill”.
QUIET RIOT‘s latest studio CD, “Rehab”, was released on October 3, 2006. The lineup on the album was Kevin DuBrow, Frankie Banali, Tony Franklin and Neil Citron. Legendary singer Glenn Hughes also made a guest vocal appearance on the LP.

Crazy Lixx’s new CD, Loud Minority is an album that hair metal fans across the world can rejoice about.
Crazy Lixx has pledged to bring great 80’s style rock back, and with Loud Minority, they have done just that.
I have listened to a lot of new glam CD’s in 2007, and especially during Glam Month at Hard Rock Hideout, and I don’t think there is one that I have enjoyed as much as Loud Minority.
There are some obvious hits on Loud Minority, with Want It, and Heroes are Forever. There isn’t a bad song in the bunch on Loud Minority. Crazy Lixx has formed eleven quality sing along anthems, that will surely appeal to fans of 80’s glam metal. Some of my personal favorites are Hell and High Water, Want It, and Love on the Run.
The video below is the band performing Do or Die live in 2006. The sound isn’t the greatest, but it will give you an idea of what Crazy Lixx sounds like.
I recommend checking out the Crazy Lixx’s myspace page, where you can find a video for their song Want It and additional song samples. If you are a fan of 80’s style glam metal, you need to pick this disc up! This disc is available for purchase online at Swedmetal records.

Heaven and Hell Records is proud to oversee the U.S. release of The Ravens Court debut ‘Skeletons in the Closet‘.
The gothic, glam rockers from down under bring a resurrection to seemingly forgotten sounds…Then twist them to become The Ravens Court. Dark with a delirious colorfulness, with a sleazy eloquence. Bizarre and catchy with rude sensuality. The Ravens Court have recreated goth rock into their own vision.
The band offer elements across the board so to appeal to a wide fan base. From the 70’s sleaze glam punk sounds of Alice Cooper, T.Rex, and Iggy Pop to the 80’s gothic glam and even artsy sounds like The Cult, Christian Death, and Bang Tango. With the current renaissance of gothic rock with bands such as HIM and The 69 Eyes, The Ravens Court will be a fine addition to this resurgence of the darker and romantic side of rock.
Skeletons in the Closet will be released in the U.S. soon.
You can check out some of the new tunes at The Ravens Court myspace page.
2007 has been a great year for rock, and Thanksgiving week has been an exceptional one for heavy metal. First with the great new release Angel Down by Sebastian Bach, and another one called Deadly Sins by Seven Witches featuring New Jersey, Axe shredder Jack Frost.
I must admit that I haven’t heard everything in the Jack Frost discography, but if Deadly Sins wasn’t near the top of the list, I would be greatly surprised.
This disc has everything a metalhead could possibly want: killer guitar work by Jack Frost, soaring vocals/screams by Alan Tecchio, and an excellent rhthym section featuring the heavy bass licks of Kevin Bolembach, and the pounding double bass drums by Troll .
There are some additional guest musicians on this disc, including the bass work of Armored Saint’s Joey Vera and Clint Arent from Pain Museum, and growled vocals of Hades’ Dave Lescinsky.
Seven Witches have crafted a fine metal cd, and one that will be getting lots of play by me in the following months. If you are a fan of bands like Armored Saint, Dream Evil or Judas Priest, you need to check out this disc.
You can preview four of the new tracks below. If you like what you hear, go get this record. It is available in most major retail outlets!
Seven Witches current lineup is:
Alan Tecchio – Vocals
Kevin Bolembach – Bass

12 Years Coming have been compared on their myspace to Motley Crue meets Guns n Roses. I’m not hearing Motley Crue but I can definitely hear the GnR influences here. ‘I Want You (On Me)’ sounds a bit like GnR in an ‘It’s So Easy’ kind of way, although I’m not saying this song is good, because it isn’t! It sounds like some amateur garage band demo. Thankfully things get a bit better from here on in.
‘Open Book’ is a great ballad and it’s not sappy, has nice lyrics and is probably the best song on this EP. ‘Shut Up’ is a good rocker with the likable sleazy words to match the sound. There isn’t a lot to say about the rest of the tunes except they go along in the same vein. Straight forward, basic, no frills rock, although they all sound similar and it gets a little boring fairly quickly.
12 Years Coming have an almost southern-fried kind of blues/rock ballsy edge to them, with a bit of a sprinkle of Junkyard. Singer Joe Riley has the kind of voice I like, not too polished and perfect, it’s a bit raspy, gritty and raw around the edges, it’s just the song writing is lacking some oomph.
This is nothing especially exceptional here and 12 Years Coming are not reinventing the wheel, its fairly average pub rock. Crack open your favourite beer and give it a taste for yourself. Check out 12 Years Coming, at their myspace page.

A Twisted Christmas captures a great live show by the band, in which Twisted Sister performed several of their big hits, as well as a few tunes off of their 2006 Christmas CD, A Twisted Christmas.
Twisted Sister is one of the few bands from the 80’s era of rock that I never managed to see live, so I thoroughly enjoyed this performance. The band sounds great live, and the concert was a high energy show that the crowd in New Jersey really got into.
Before 2006, Hard Rock fans only had Trans Siberian Orchestra to go to for some harder rocking Christmas tunes. Thank Goodness for Santa Dee and his twisted little elves for bringing this hard rock Christmas DVD.
When you are out spending your hard earned cash on Black Friday, and need something to get you in the mood for Christmas, pick up Twisted Sister’s A Christmas Live DVD, and have yourself a Heavy Metal Christmas!
On a side note, the DVD has some pretty cool extras including the following videos:
