Gypsy Pistoleros – Wild, Beautiful, Damned (2007)

Gypsyp In January of 2007, UK rockers Gypsy Pistoleros released their first full length disc, Wild, Beautiful, Damned.

The band open the eye of a lot of people, and gained a whole new fan base with their appearance in the Rocklahoma Music Festival.

The Pistoleros mix a little bit of flamenco into their sleazy, glam tunes. The band has a sound that I would call a cross between the punk of The Sex Pistols and the glam of Hanoi Rocks and maybe a dash of early 80’s Motley Crue. The influences are definitely strong in the music, but one thing is for certain, Wild, Beautiful, Damned rocks! This CD sounds like a party waiting to happen….just add tequila. I have quite a few favorites on this record including the tunes: Forever Is Para Siempre, Moonchild and Un Hombre Sin Rostro, Pistolero.

You won’t hear a new glam record that is more unique than this one. It is a very solid effort, and is a disc for all glam fans to check out!

2008 could be a big year for the the Gypsy Pistoleros. They have been invited back to Rocklahoma in 2008, and are releasing their 2nd CD, Para Siempre soon. If it is as good as this release, the band will take the world by storm!

I like this one a lot too. I think they have the energy and the creativity to do something. It would be nice to see them get a good opening slot in 2008.

This was a fantastic album, probably the second best glam album I heard this year after the new Hanoi Rocks. If there’s a new band that could re-invigorate this tired genre, it’s definitely the Gypsy Pistoleros. I’m hoping to catch them when they do a more extensive US tour.
