i love the skid row version but i actually find the flairs version pretty refreshing. i read an interview with them and they performed it originally because it was the singer’s favourite song and they recorded it just for fun. it became a single because it unexpectedly started to get a big buzz in canada. they had no intention of re-vamping the song to cater to their style…it was just for fun.
basically…my vote goes for the flairs.
Skid Row was a big disappointment when I came back to it after not hearing it for years. However, the singles still sound okay. I actually reviewed the Flairs album (http://www.rnrnonsense.com/2007/11/review-flairs-shut-up-and-drive.html) and it wasn’t all that good. I have to go with Skid Row.
Skid Row hands down. It’s rare to ever beat the original and while The flairs did well they also just remade the song. One thing you have to do when you cover a song is make it your own and All I hear is Skid Row en femme.
Interesting as I’d never heard of or seen “The Flairs” version before… unfortunately I don’t like it much. The Skid Row one wins for me too. I have very good memories of Skid Row over here supporting the first album. I caught them supporting Bon Jovi at Milton Keynes Bowl, headlining at Liverpool Theatre (with Vain in support!) and then later opening for Motley Crue and White Lion at the NEC and getting the best reception I’ve ever seen for a band 3rd on the bill.
Anyway… enough from me!

Skid Row…..no question about this one…..
The original will always be the best!
