Accept – Restless and Wild (Release Year – 1982)
The German metal band Accept, didn’t really start taking a foothold in the U.S. until their fifth release Balls to the Wall. A quick look through the Accept catalog, and it is amazing how many strong releases you will find.
Restless and Wild is the 4th album by Accept, and a very good one. Udo Dirkschneider’s abrasive yet powerful vocals, and the heavy guitars of Wolf Hoffman make this a metal classic worth checking out.
From the bizarre folk music intro on this disc, you almost know this record is going to jump out and bite you, and boy does it ever. This is not
some watered down pop metal disc, this is heavy metal in its purest form. The first two songs on this disc, Fast as A Shark, and Restless and Wild, are my favorites. There are several strong cuts worth checking out.
The band toured with Judas Priest before this album was recorded, and without question, you can hear the influence of the guitar styling in the music. If you like Judas Priest style metal, and prefer the heavier side of rock, Restless and Wild is an excellent disc worth re-discovering.

“Get your balls to the wall man”!!!!!!!!!!!
I saw Accept twice and they were excellent. Admittedly some songs were iffy, but still a great band, now I’m here in South Africa I don’t get to hear much of them, the only c.d. i have is restless and wild. Still gets played often.
I have always dug Accept.Udo’s voice was at times,similiar to Bon Scott’s.
Never really heard much by this band, but may have to start scouring ebay……
Breaker was the first album where they really started to come into their own, but this one up things a notch. Lots of fire and their sound got much tighter and more direct on this album.
Accept have always been a fave of mine, they were heavier than their countrymen (Scorpions) but they were a notch below Judas Priest. I’ll agree with Bob, the songwriting was suspect but when they had it all going, they were a force.
‘Fast As A Shark’ is a classic but ‘Princess Of The Dawn’ is my favorite. Great guitars, big drums, and Udo’s shrill voice…..what a combination!

I always liked that Accept was a little harder and had more teeth than a lot of 80s metal, but they were also a little bit short in the songwriting department, making them a bit of a mixed bag.
You have to give it up for one song…think…this is 1982 and Fast as s Shark is part of the Restless & Wild release. Man! They faded pretty fast though. By the time I saw them on the Metal Heart Tour they had faded into Hairband obscurity. The good old days…..
