US Arena Rock band SILENT RAGE completed the production of their brand new studio album, their first in 5 years, entitled “Four Letter Word”. Guitarist and singer Jesse Damon comments: “I love all the new songs a lot! The vibe on this new CD is a blending of hard driving rock with big memorable choruses, just the way we like to write. The new material continues as a natural progression from our “Don’t Touch Me There” CD. We’ve always strived to uphold what the band is known for with our multi-vocals, a style of blending melodic with hard rock, and signature song writing! All these new songs have a common thread of energy, enthusiasm, and balls! It’s been 5 years since our last release and so we made sure to make it enjoyable, and to have a blast in the studio recording it! We rocked hard on this CD, and this time we asked and included some of our good friends to play on several of the new songs. Some of my favorite’s on this new CD would be the song “Man or Machine” the story of Frankenstein, with the main guitar solo and guitar fills performed by Bruce Kulick. This track is one of the heaviest songs with strong performances by everyone! I also think the title track “Four Letter Word” with it’s storyline about not to fall into love’s trap turned out very cool, and is a continuation of Don’t Touch Me There material. Some other stand out songs include “Bona Fide” a primal lust rocker, with Bobby Blotzer on drums and Gilby Clarke performing the main guitar solo and fills, also the song “Sinister Man” another ballsy rocker showing a darker melodic side to us, with a lyric suggesting “Livin’ life my own way” with very special guest backing singers”.
Silent Rage lineup on the album includes Jesse Damon on vocals & guitar, EJ Curse on vocals & bass, Mark Hawkins on vocals & guitar, and newest member Rodney Pino on vocals & drums.
Track Listing includes: “You Could Be The One”, “Four Letter Word”, “Man Or Machine”, “Feel My Love”, “Close Your Eye’s”, “Sinister Man”, “Hard Habit To Break”, “Nobody Knows (the Ballad Of Andy and Glory)” “Bona Fide”, “I’m Not Lonely”, “Trouble”.
Produced by Gilby Clarke, including a line-up of some very special guests performances by Bruce Kulick (KISS), Bobby Blotzer (Ratt), Gilby Clarke (Guns N Roses, Rockstar Supernova), Dilana (Rockstar Supernova), Brian James Fox (Silent Rage) and more!
Get ready for a raw, rock explosion for melodic hard rock fans, new and old! More details and release date to be released at a later stage.
Almost from the first note, I could hear many of the band’s influences in their music, which includes the Ramones, Guns N’ Roses and AC/DC.
Shot In The Dark is a good dose of 80’s hard rock, with the Ramones style punk.
The strongest cuts on this record are Ride the Main Line, One Way Ticket To Love, and the Poison like ballad Here I Am.
There is a new wave of bands that are bringing back real rock to the table. Main Line Riders is a band you will certainly hear a lot more about in 2008. Shot In The Dark is a very solid debut, and is one worth checking out. I look forward to catching this band live, when they hit the road to support this record this summer.
If you give a new band a spin, try out the Main Line Riders, I think you will like them. For more info on the band, check out the Main Line Riders myspace page.

I won’t hide the fact that I am a fan of Robert Mason’s vocals. I have enjoyed his work in each band I have followed him in (Lynch Mob, Cry of Love, Silent Witness) including Big Cock. He hasn’t disappointed me yet.
This CD, without question is the best Big Cock release yet. I found Motherload to be a little heavier and a bit more upbeat than the first two Big Cock discs.
The first two records had a song that I didn’t care for here or there. This is not the case with Motherload. There isn’t a bad song on the disc. Motherload rocks pretty hard all the way through. The exception is the ballad, Don’t Ask Me To Be Faithful, which is a solid tune as well.
My favorite cuts on this record are Breaking My Balls, M.I.L.F., and Built For Speed. The band wrote my theme song, with the tune Live to Rock!
The band stays true to their roots, and as a result, have created another disc, that is sure to appeal to most fans of 80’s hard rock. You can check out some of the new tunes at Big Cock’s myspace page! You may find yourself reserving a copy shortly thereafter. Motherload will hit most online stores in February.

So far my live music experiences in 2008, have been nothing short of a debacle. I was hoping that Sunday night would turn that trend around. It wasn’t a particularly good night, to start with, as my Green Bay Packers got beat by the New York Giants in their effort to move on to the Superbowl.
Before the game ended, I headed to the Deadwood Saloon to check out Chavis recording Artist, Asphalt Valentine. The band seems to have a good start going for them in 2008. They were recently signed to Chavis Records. They will be on the road touring in support of their new record heavily this year. Their single, Strip Rock Roll is starting to hit the airwaves across the U.S. I really looked forward to this show, to see what this band was about.
Singer Joe Flynt, apparently had a touch of Bronchitis, and his vocals on Sunday night were inaudible. After the first song started, the sound guy was scrambling to find out what was wrong with the microphone and amp, but Joe wasn’t able to sing loud enough for anyone to hear him. The rest of the band rocked pretty hard, but without being able to hear the vocals, it was too hard to discern how good Asphalt Valentine really was.
I am not sure why a band would choose to honor a live date when a member of the band is ill, but with Asphalt Valentine starting to tour on the national circuit, they probably don’t want to acquire a bad reputation. I hope they will make good on their promise to return, so I can truly hear what they sound like, in their top form.

While this disc is never considered as popular as their debut, Long Cold Winter offers a the listener a bunch of well crafted tunes with a bluesy rock edge.
Cinderella’s sound started growing away from the hair metal roots, and into a more bluesy sound, that seemed to bridge the gap in the sound difference between Night Songs, and the later release Heartbreak Station. Tom Keifer was developing as a better singer instead of a screamer, which he did more of on the debut.
While I have enjoyed all of Cinderella’s releases so far, Long Cold Winter is by far my favorite of them all. This is one of those rare releases, where there are no filler tracks. I can play this one from beginning to end repeatedly, without finding the need to skip a track.
It took several years after its release, but the RIAA shows this disc along with Night Songs as selling over 3 Million copies now. It is hard to believe that disc is already 20 years old. It is a must own record in my collection, and is one that I would be happy to purchase again today.

Their self titled disc disappeared about as fast as it arrived. The band had a little bit of success, as a music video was released for the song Cowgirl. The band managed to sell 150,000 copies of the CD, but disappeared before long.
Unlike many of the hair metal CD’s of the early 90’s, this one actually has a little more substance. Great vocals, and a funky upbeat vibe drive these tunes. While Cowgirl is the obvious hit, there isn’t a bad song on this disc.
I once owned a copy of this on cassette tape, but never replaced it until last year. I was shocked to find a used copy of this disc in 2007. A quick internet search, and I found that you can still grab this disc for under 10 bucks (for a used copy) through Amazon.com, and occasionally on EBay. It is way out of print, but well worth the price of admission.

ASPHALT VALENTINE is the first confirmed band for Cruefest Atlanta, set to take place April 4, 2008 at the 10 High Club in Atlanta, Georgia. Tickets will be sold at the door for $10.
Around for more than five years, the association known collectively as “Cruefest” has promoted bands that follow in the MÖTLEY CRÜE spirit. Events are held at various locations around the world throughout the year to spotlight these bands and to raise money for the Skylar Neil Memorial Fund, Nikki Sixx‘s Running Wild in the Night foundation, Tommy Lee‘s charity of choice St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and Mick Mars‘ charity Spondylitis Association of America.
Event sponsors donate money and merchandise while the bands donate their talent. The highlight of Cruefest Atlanta is the opportunity for MÖTLEY CRÜE fans to get together and raise money for charities. The benefit features the bands as well as the free merchandise, auctions and raffles.
The Skylar Neil Memorial Fund was founded by MÖTLEY CRÜE lead singer Vince Neil in honor of his daughter Skylar who died at age 4 from cancer in 1995. The Skylar Neil Memorial Fund donates exclusively to the T.J. Martell Foundation for leukemia, cancer, and aids research. The Skylar Neil Memorial Fund has raised over $1,000,000 to date.
MÖTLEY CRÜE bassist Nikki Sixx founded the Running Wild in the Night foundation, which is dedicated to raising funds for Covenant House. Covenant House is the largest privately funded childcare agency in the United States providing shelter and service to homeless and runaway youth.
Last year, Cruefests across the world raised over $25,000 for charity. Cruefest hopes to raise even more in 2008.

ASHES dIVIDE, the new band fronted by A Perfect Circle co-founder Billy Howerdel, have just released their debut single, “The Stone.” The response has been phenomenal with the track reaching the #1 and #2 “most added” slots on Alternative and Active Rock radio formats respectively! The band is getting set to release their debut album, Keep Telling Myself It’s Alright, on March 18th through Island Records.
Matt Pinfield recently sat down with Howerdel to discuss the new project:

The Sword has completed work on its wildly-anticipated sophomore album, entitled Gods of the Earth. The follow up to the band’s critically acclaimed debut Age of Winters, Gods of the Earth is set for an April 1, 2008 release via diverse NYC label Kemado Records.
Recorded at Folkvang Studios in Austin, TX, Gods of the Earth instantly conveys what words can only try to describe: The Sword is not to be taken lightly. From the moment the album’s lead track “The Sundering” explodes, it is immediately apparent that the Sword has upped the ante on a sound all its own. More ambitious, more accomplished and simply bigger, Gods of the Earth’s huge, mountaintop-friendly hooks, thunderous drumming and oceanic bass lines cut through the air like a scythe, while the ominous vocals of frontman J.D. Cronise weave fantastical tales rife with myth and mythology. Waves of powerful riffs and low-end thunder dominate songs such as the immediate “Maiden, Mother & Crone”, “Fire Lances of the Ancient Hyperzephyrians”, “Under the Boughs” and the paralyzing “The Black River”.
The final track listing for Gods of the Earth is as follows:
1.) The Sundering
2.) How Heavy This Axe
4.) Fire Lances of the Ancient Hyperzephyrians
5.) To Take the Black
6.) Maiden, Mother & Crone
7.) Under the Boughs
8.) The Black River
9.) The White Sea
It is rare when a newer band influenced in 80’s metal puts out a release that remotely compares to their predecessors. The new release Screams from the Wild, by the UK’s Tequila Rockin Bird, sounds like a lost release from the New Wave of British Heavy Metal.
While this release isn’t original by any means, it is most certainly a good slab of heavy rock. On Screams From the Wild, I can hear bits of Iron Maiden, and Ozzy era Black Sabbath fused into Tequila Rockin’ Birds’ music. I love those bands, so I was immediately captured by the tunes here.
The songs blast off with the opener Welcome to Hell and rock hard right through the closing track Trust In Your Government.
The thunderous drums of Johnny Warriner helps drive the dual axe attack of Nick Watson, and Kez Symes. The powerful, whiskey stained vocals of Rich Woods are a pleasure to take in. A band this talented have to be headed for great things. I would imagine that they won’t be unknown for too much longer. Tequila Rocking Bird will certainly be one of the leaders in the New Wave of Classic Rock that is happening today.
The band has done something rare, by offering up their record for free via download. Something that sounds this good is not usually given away for free, so go download your copy today, before the band regains their senses, and put this record out for sale. Fans of some of the newer Classic Rock bands like Priestess ought to download this asap!
Special thanks to Bill at Rock of Ages for turning me onto this band!

This is a metal video with comedian, actor Brian Posehn. Check it out!
Million Dollar Reload, the five piece band, from Belfast, Ireland has released one great slab of rock with their cd, Anthems of a Degeneration.
When I hear a CD this good, I wonder if I am living on the wrong side of the pond. Why releases like this aren’t circulating in the United States to mass appeal is a crime in my opinion.
Million Dollar Reload has a sound that I would compare as a cross between Buckcherry, Guns ‘N Roses, and maybe a little bit of AC/DC. The music may be unoriginal, but when songs are this good, I could care less. A CD of this quality deserves to be in the player of every hard rock fan, regardless of what country you live in. One thing is for certain, if the band can a major record label to bite on this release, this band will be huge!
The first six songs on Anthems of a Degeneration are high energy rockers. The band doesn’t give you a chance to breathe until you get to the song, The Last Icon. This is a slower track, but should be a monster hit for this band. It is a song about rock stars passed on including AC/DC’s Bon Scott.
The pace resumes with the awesome track Tattoos and Dirty Girls and rocks all the way through the final cut, Travel. I thought the title “Travel” was a strange name for a balladesque tune, but it is another hit worthy number for the band, and a very strong note on which to close this disc.
You can buy a copy of the CD off of the Million Dollar Reload myspace page. Don’t even hesitate to pick this one up. This is a great rock CD. It should not be missed!

I have to wonder if Bret Michaels thinks he is doing his career any favors, with this stupid reality show, Rock of Love, and now Rock of Love 2 on VH1.
CC Deville has had his taste of the Reality TV game with the Surreal Life, and now Bret continues with the moronic affair that is Rock of Love 2.
Somehow, this has become one of the highest rated shows on VH1. It truly is a sad, sad day, when garbage programs like this become media darlings.
Much like Rock of Love, the producers of this show must have been scouring every seedy strip club, and adult film shop to find their new cast full of artificially enhanced women.
Rock of Love 2, already has a porn star to its credit. Angelique Moran who is seemingly going by the name Albine on Rock of Love 2, has several porn sites to her credit. A quick google search on her name, and you will find the not so interesting site PornEskimo.com. I had no idea there was such a place, and a website like this is better left unvisited. Aside from that, two other cast members are Playboy models.
Hopefully someday, Bret Michaels will go back to a credible music career. He is only embarrassing himself by treading down this Rock of Love 2 road. At the rate he is going , he will be remembered more for this pathetic excuse of a T.V. Show. VH1 must pay well for shows like this. You may resume watching the train wreck now!

A bit about the bands………
Def Leppard remain one of the world’s biggest and most successful live acts, and 2007 was another monumental year the band, playing a near sold out 50 date arena tour across the USA. Starting June 2007 and ending in September 2007, the group’s summer concert tour became a must-see phenomenon – .regularly selling out 15,000 to 20,000 capacity arenas! The show featured a stunning production and light show and saw Def Leppard using a ramp for the first time – the show featuring an acoustic in addition to Def Leppard’s huge catalogue of global hits. Def Leppard remain amongst the most successful UK bands in the USA still.
Def Leppard are one of only five rock groups who can claim two separate original 10 million plus selling albums in the US. The others are The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd and Van Halen.
2007 was also the 20th anniversary of Def Leppard’s legendary “Hysteria” album. An album summed up by Mojo magazine in Sept 2007 as “Hard rock’s equivalent of “Thriller””.
Def Leppard are also set to release a brand new studio album in mid 2008. The album will see the band adding to their incredible legacy and promises the inclusion of a very special collaboration.
Having sold over 65 million albums worldwide since the Def Leppard debut release in 1980 and proved themselves one of rock music’s hardest working and consistently powerful live bands (playing to over 50 million fans in the last 15 years alone), these dates are set to be a highlight of the summer.
Legendary front man David Coverdale is bringing Whitesnake back on the road in 2008 to celebrate the band’s 30th Anniversary with a vengeance…April 2008 will see the release of the first new Whitesnake studio album in over 10 years…’Good To Be Bad’ featuring 11 new, slamming Whitesnake songs, guaranteed to take their place alongside their better known multi-million selling catalogue.
“It’s about time we had new songs to present to the Whitesnake Choir…This album has all the elements I enjoy about Whitesnake & more…“ says Coverdale.
‘Good To Be Bad’ is the most recent band offering, along with their in-concert greatest hits CD… ‘Live In The Shadow Of The Blues’ & ‘Live In The Still Of The Night’…voted Best DVD of 2006 by the readers of Classic Rock magazine.
With their blend of hard rock, soul, blues, and balladry…a healthy dose of priapic posturing & good time fun, Whitesnake brings a welcome, positive energy to the current musical climate.
From 1973 to 1976 Coverdale was the lead singer in Deep Purple, one of the biggest bands in the world. A year after leaving, he formed Whitesnake in late 1977 as a blues-based, melodic rock band to tour & promote his solo records ‘Whitesnake’ & ‘Northwinds’.
The band then took on a life & an identity of its own, attracting not only the supporters from Deep Purple, but, a whole new audience hungry for the blues, soul & good time rock Whitesnake offered.
In the early 90’s Coverdale spent 3 years working with Led Zeppelin guitarist Jimmy Page, on the rock classic ‘Coverdale Page’ album, before retiring from the music business for several years.
The internationally renowned, multi-platinum band will be featuring songs from David Coverdale’s colourful career…
This is an opportunity to experience the ultimate line-up & celebrate the 30th Anniversary of Whitesnake…
Doug Aldrich on guitar…Reb Beach on guitar…Timothy Drury on keyboards… Uriah Duffy on bass…Chris Frazier on drums…& of course, the inimitable David Coverdale on vocals…
“I can’t wait to get back on stage…after being in the studio for most of 2007 I am most definitely ready to let off some steam…The front row should definitely be prepared!” says Coverdale
You have been warned!!!
Special Guests on the tour are the great ‘Black Stone Cherry’ who hail from the USA and have just won Best New Band at the Classic Rock awards.
