  1. All my respect goes to this band! I’m 30 years old, and if we talk about global influence in music, you have at least 1000 good rock bands, that were created thanks to Whitesnake. And one more thing, when i met my wife in a “rock cafee”, we danced to a “Ain’t no love…”, and my (now) wife said “I think this is the firs time that David made a mistake”. You know, their music makes you feel so good, that it doesn’t matter what they are singin’ about. Sorry ’bout bad english :)

  2. Just placed my pre-order at Play.com for the limited edition disc

  3. Don’t ask where did I hear them. Let’s say a friend streamed them
    for me….

  4. Review of the new album.

    01. Best Years
Driving in slight Zeppelin – groove. Coverdale hitting the high registry
in the verses. Solo reminds me of John Sykes in the 1987-era. 8/10

    02. Can You Hear The Wind Blow
This is the stand-out track of the album. Should be included in the future
best-of – compilations. Drives like Judgement Day in the old but in my
opinion superior to that tune. Crashes in with guitar riff and verse starts
like the ones in Slide it In-album. This should be played LOUD, LOUD, LOUD.
Guitar Solo nails the solid 10/10

    03. Call On Me
Semi-fast pacing rocker here. Grooving guitar riff. Somehow doesn’t ignite
after the previous one. Some nice bridges keep this together. Wah-solo
brings variety to the string-gods’ offerings. 8/10

    04. All I Want All I Need
This is the right spot for a “Is This Love” – style power-ballad. Shows that Coverdale
hasn’t lost his touch for great ballads. His voice is not as strong as in the 80’s
in the midrange but this is nice composition. Deserves 10/10 because there
just isn’t anything to complain and I didn’t feel once like pressing the skip-
    button. Solo whines nicely.

    05. Good to Be Bad
Opening riff bangs into something that is like Crossing between “Ready an’ Willing”
“Rough and Ready” and “Slow and Easy”. This tune makes you feel you have heard
it before during Slide it in – tour…. Feels little bit like a filler…7/10

    06. All For Love
Dual – guitar intro promises a lot. Drives nicely after the previous track. You really
enjoy the big echo in the c-part right before guitar solo that fits in like a glove.
There are some really nice elements in this song. Something from power ballads
    to arena rocker…10/10

    07. Summer Rain
Starts like an acoustic country-rock – ballad. Owes little to Eagles?
This probably should be played in the evening sitting on the porch and looking
at the sunset. This is a freakin’ semi paced country rock ballad. Not bad.
Beats most Eagles’ last record songs.

    08. Lay Down Your Love
This has intro like Eagles, but bursts into semi-paced “Slow Poke Music” – like
rocker. Riff-king strikes again. Nothing bad about this. Perhaps I should listen
to this album randomly or start every time with a different song. 8/10

    09. A Fool In Love
Bluesy riff, nice chorus with enough room for the bgvocs. This reminds me of
Crying in the Rain with similar pace. This song has nice melody. Great guitar
    solo. 9/10

    10. Got What You Need
Just when I started to miss a fast-pacer this song kicks in like a hurricane.
The album needed this kind of Zeppelin-“Black Dog/Rock’n’Roll” – style rendition.
Little like a “Ready to Rock”. Not bad at all. Solo is luckily clean enough
on the rough background riffing. 10/10

    11. Til The End Of Time
Coverdale/Page-acoustic-style crossing between celtic song and american country
ballad. Nice way to wrap up this exhaustinly loud album. You keep on playing
this song over again just because there are nothing more than voice and guitar with
keyboards here. Reminds me of “Soldier of Fortune” and “Sailing Ships”.

Coverdale’s voice sounds good like ever if you give consideration to the fact
that the midrange is killed because extended screaming. Doug Aldrich has his
distinctive sound all over this album and the compositions owe a lot to his powerful
riffing. Chris Frazier’s drumming reminds me of Cozy Powell (R.I.P.) a lot.
The tracks are bit long because Doug has taken space for soloing in his compositions.
The solos are great and really showcase the guitarists’ capabilities. The album really
has no bad songs at first couple of listenings. If Whitesnake did like Iron Maiden
and played this whole album with couple of older hits I would not be disappointed.

  5. Just been listening to the album…erm, yes, have just dld off lemonwire. I switched off ‘cos yet again more heavily compressed guitar sounds. Not a quick-witted verse yet. Quite agree with Bill. Though I would add to the list that any album pre-dating “1987″ is good, no fab, when put up against post “1987″. The good old days the ’snake had a real cut and swagger to their lyrics and music. I’m afraid that this album doesn’t cut the mustard. Peace.

  6. Maybe it’s their tenth studio album that doesn’t suck balls. I guess there may have been one in there that narrowly avoided it.

  7. The cover artwork is pretty bad. I am guessing the Gold X signifies their 10th studio album?! When I count the non live discs, this one would be # 11….so I guess that logic doesn’t work either.

  8. We can all agree on that artwork!

  9. Bic & Que, you’re missing the point completely, but luckily Bob Vinyl told it like it is ( “almost” the best post of the bunch)
I’m laughing all the time while I’m posting here, that’s why I keep doing it dude! I just don’t use the smilies anymore ..maybe i should? (Bob, Chuck, Rob, what do you think? the sessions are still in progress but I think some smilies are needed here, otherwise people take it too serious..)

Bill, yours was the best post of this thread. Agree 100%.

PS: Whitesnake does not suck balls. At least that I’m aware of.
    This cover “artwork” does.
