Point One – Unlucky Stars (Release Year – 2007)
Kudos goes out to Point One from Seattle, Washington. Somehow this band has managed to create a sound that is a blend of 80’s, 90’s and 00’s metal.
I didn’t think something like that was possible in this day and age, but Unlucky Stars, sounds so unlike anything I have listened to lately, it is a total breath of fresh air.
With Point One you get some guitar work reminiscent of 80’s metal, the pure vocal style of today’s rock, bits of grunge, a dabble of hardcore (but not too much), and small hints of industrial. The marriage of all of these different sounds some how works for Point One, and better yet, works for this listener’s ears.
There are several songs on Unlucky Stars that are radio ready, and a few that have hit potential. Sadly, with Point One being an indie artist, I doubt that there are enough radio stations out there that have the balls to play this disc. If you are a hard rock fan, with an open mind, you ought to give Unlucky Stars a listen. I think you will find some tunes you can enjoy on this disc.
Point One has six of the tunes from Unlucky Stars available for listening on their myspace page. You can also view the video for Monochrome Mistress below! Go check them out!
