The Limit – Reinventing the Sun (2008)
The Limit is a three piece band from New Haven, Conneticut. Their debut CD, Reinventing The Sun, pulls its sound from many of the Limit’s influences. On this CD, I can hear a fusion of sounds that includes Rush, Led Zeppelin, as well as a few others.
The Limit has a good classic rock sound. For a trio, the music on this CD is quite good. In fact, it is far better than I could have ever expected. I could tell from the very first listen that the songs on this disc translate quite well. Mark Daniels’ guitar work is quite solid. He also has a solid vocal range, which works with this style of music.
The production on Reinventing The Sun isn’t quite what it should be. I found the production quality a little thin. Reinventing The Sun doesn’t do The Limit the justice they deserve. I don’t know if something is missing from the way this mixed, but I thought the overall sound was a little too low. A few tweaks of the equalizer, and I was able to improve the sound somewhat, but I could not get it perfect. At times, I thought Daniels’ voice should be at the forefront, but it gets washed out by the music at times.
Reinventing the Sun is a solid start for The Limit. This CD shows that this band has loads of potential, and I expect big things from them in the future.
