HELIX frontman Brian Vollmer has issued the following update:
“For the past two weeks we’ve been going back and forth on the video for ‘Fill Your Head With Rock’, which we filmed right here in the back room at Planet Helix. The idea was to film it on high def in a small space to achieve a certain “look”, but after seeing the rough footage it was evident to us that our idea wasn’t working as intended. Not that the filming looked bad or that the bad didn’t perform-quite the contrary. It was more the fact that we tried to take an arena band and put it in a location which made us look small.
Initially John Hockley, who puts our stuff up on YouTube, put together a vid from my own footage that I filmed over the past couple of years with my Sony movie camera. Gord and I thought that it looked great and conveyed that feeling of ‘…being larger than life…’ that we wanted to portray to our fans. There were some things that needed to be changed however, so we set about to find more film and to effect some of the footage we already had. Amazingly, John used a $125.00 editing program to put it all together. The results speak for themselves. Expect the launch of the video Sunday night (March 30th).”
The band formerly known as Fight Paris, has a new CD out. This is a 2nd debut of sorts for this Georgia 4 piece. The band parted ways with their original name, singer and sound. Originally, Fight Paris was a hardcore outfit. As Stonerider, they have done a transformation of sorts, chaning their sound to a hard/classic rock type of sound.
Knowing that the Stonerider are on the road with Endeverafter and Airbourne, made their CD, Three Legs of Trouble one that I must check out. After listening to this disc a few times over the last couple of weeks, I can say I am glad that I picked this disc up.
The opening cut Rush Hour, Baby holds a lot of Led Zeppelin like style to it, while maintaining some killer groove. This is an excellent way to start off of a disc, and one of the best new songs I have heard in a while.
Back from the Dead keeps the pace going, and there are more Page-like guitar riffs throughout this tune.
I love the funky groove of Ramble Down. This song has a more Hendrix vibe to it, than Zeppelin. It is a very cool song, and one of the better ones on Three Legs of Trouble.
At this point in the album, the band seems to have a more modern rocking vibe that is somewhere between Buckcherry and Tesla than anything close to the 70’s era of rock.
Juice Man is more of a high octane rocker, while Wild Child is more of a mid-tempo song. Both Juice Man and Wild Child are great hard rocking tunes.
Champ Champagne shows off his bass playing talent in Bad Lovin Never Felt So Good.
I have to admit that I could have done with out the cover of Nazareth’s Hair of the Dog. Far too many bands have covered this Nazareth tune, including, Britny Fox, Guns N’ Roses, Warrant, MSG and countless others. This has to be the most over covered song by rock bands today. The Stonerider’s version isn’t bad. It is actually kind of cool, but I have come to loathe this song, after hearing so many variations of it over the years.
Matt Tanner has a great rock voice. He has a slight raspiness to his voice, which works well with this music. The guitars of Matt Tanner and Neil Warren deliver a very good, hard rocking bluesy type of sound that so few bands today are able to reproduce.
Without question, there is a new player in the resurgence of classic rock. Stonerider is going to be one of bigger new bands out there, if they play their cards right. Their album, Three Legs of Trouble does not disappoint. It is definitely one of the better releases of 2008! Don’t miss this record!

It’s been a long, loud journey for Pennywise. The Southern California punk stalwarts released their debut album 17 years ago on Epitaph Records and went on to rack up 3 million CDs sold worldwide. This week, they release their ninth collection as a true 21st century endeavor: “Reason to Believe” finds the Hermosa Beach punks partnering with MySpace Records, and the 14-track album will be offered free to fans for two weeks beginning Tuesday.
“It’s a brave new world in the music industry,” lead singer Jim Lindberg said last week during a break from rehearsals.
Bands used to fret over the cover art for their album; now they wrestle with decisions about the price of their album and their path to the marketplace. All eyes were on Radiohead a few months ago with their pay-what-you-want model online followed by a physical CD release. And Lindberg said he was intrigued by Elvis Costello’s recent announcement that he would put out an album on vinyl that would come with a download voucher tucked inside. “I’m not really the person that downloads and listens on portable devices or a computer, that’s not how I enjoy my music. But a lot of people do, and this approach we’re doing will really connect with a lot of new people.”
It’s a significant project for MySpace, which will be putting its considerable network propulsion behind a free full album from a name band for the first time. Pennywise’s new single, “The Western World,” is already getting heavy rotation on KROQ-FM (106.7). (Epitaph will release the album jointly with MySpace Records in Europe and Australia.)
Pennywise (which has Fletcher Dragge on guitar, Byron McMackin on drums, Randy Bradbury on bass) got its start as a backyard lark in 1988. Lindberg said the turmoil and opportunity of the music industry today can be unsettling, but the band is just happy to be as loud as ever. “We all expected to need day jobs a long time ago.”
New Generation Superstars have released a new promo clip in support of their new CD, Crash Course in Rock n Roll. Check it out below!
In 2007, the band Mass released their first CD with new material since 1988.
I do not know how a band that has been around since the early 80’s has managed to stay off of my radar for so long. One thing is for sure, I am glad I have found them. Their new disc, Crack of Dawn is a quality piece of melodic rock.
Singer Louis D’Augusta reminds of a cross between Tony Harnell and Johnny Gioelli. He is a very good singer, and his clean vocals are a pleasure to my ears. This album tends to go back and fourth between AOR and hard rock. I prefer the harder edged tunes on this disc. My favorites are It’s You, Sweet Lady Jane, and the bonus track Seven Days.
While I am not familiar with any of Mass’ previously released music, I have enjoyed Crack of Dawn enough to look for other releases in their catalog of music.
You can check out a few tunes off of Crack of Dawn at the band’s myspace page.
Don’t miss them when they take the stage at Rocklahoma on July 12th, 2008!

Saints of the Underground — Real-Life Guitar Heroes … Platinum-Selling Artists … Newest Super Group (by way of Ratt, Warrant and Alice Cooper) — Ready to Rock With Debut CD, “Love the Sin, Hate the Sinner”
Saints of the Underground, Created by Members of Mega-Groups Ratt, Warrant, and Alice Cooper, Will Explode Onto the Music Scene in April With Their Debut CD Entitled, “Love the Sin, Hate the Sinner”
LOS ANGELES, CA – Ratt, Warrant, Alice Cooper — the roots of rock’s newest super group, Saints of the Underground. You can call them S.O.T.U.
S.O.T.U. — drummer Bobby Blotzer and bassist Robbie Crane (Ratt), vocalist Jani Lane (Warrant) and guitarist Keri Keli (Alice Cooper) — are set to rock the charts April 22 with their debut CD, “Love the Sin, Hate the Sinner” — mixed by Andy Johns, whose credits include Stones and Zeppelin.
A music business that enjoys increasing sales of Guitar Hero and Rock Band video games, is already hearing significant buzz about S.O.T.U.’s premiere effort — written and produced by Jani, Bobby, and Keri — which features tracks such as “Dead Man Shoes,” “All in How You Wear It,” “Signs of Life,” as well as a mesmerizing take on the Stones classic, “Moonlight Mile.”
“With more than six decades of combined experience, S.O.T.U. represents classic hard rock with current elements of today’s rock genre,” said Kelli.
The band came about, as so many bands do, unexpectedly. The four musicians were covering tunes together for fun during down time from their other bands — and what do you know, chemistry called and they evolved into a creative partnership that started to turn out original songs.
“For me, S.O.T.U. was like when a Monty Python skit stops abruptly and you hear a voice over say, ‘and now for something completely different,'” said Lane. “I was in a very slow and boring rut when I got a call from the guys. It really got the creative juices flowing again … and some other juices too!”
S.O.T.U. laid down drums and bass tracks at Blotzer’s Diamond Recording Studios in Texas, and then overdubbed guitars and vocals at Kelli’s studio in California.

He was held on a strong-arm rape warrant stemming from Neshoba County, Missisippi, and appears to have been released from L.A. County custody, the Sheriff’s Web site shows. His status today could not be confirmed.
Details about the warrant were not immediately available. Messages left with state police in Mississippi went unanswered.

After ODIN slit up in the late 80’s, singer Randy O was able to secure another record deal with Atlantic Records, for his band, Lostboys. Lostboys also included former ODIN guitar player, Jeff Duncan.
Lostboys played a fairly typical brand of hair metal, that was quite common for 1990. At times Randy O sounds quite a bit like, Drew Hannah from the band Wildside. Some of the songs on Lost and Found are hit and miss, but there are a few good tracks including Crying Out, Right on Track and the title track, Lost and Found.
Lostboys sound certainly doesn’t set them apart from so many of the bands of the early 90’s, and are one of the more obscure bands of the era. The guitar work by Jeff Duncan is very good, but Randy O’s vocals can often go from cool to annoying very quickly. With that being said, I am not crazy about this CD. If you like the CD, Under the Influence from Wildside, you might find a few songs that you enjoy here. Some songs are decent, and others are quite bad.
The cost of admission makes this one that might be worth exploring for you. You can find copies of this disc on Amazon.com for less than a dollar. Tread at your own risk!

VALIENT THORR POSTPONES PROMOTIONAL ACTIVITIES THROUGH JUNE 10
* * * * *
BAND STILL SET TO ROCK THE WORLD WITH NEW ALBUM IMMORTALIZER ON JUNE 17
LOS ANGELES, CA (March 26, 2008) – Valient Himself announced today that Valient Thorr will be postponing all activities April 15th through June 10th to allow him to donate a kidney to his ailing father. Valient’s decision to take public what is a private family event stems from the National Kidney Foundation’s public outreach. As Valient Thorr is on a single-minded mission to spread their message of redemption wrapped in rock n’ roll, this is another chance to illuminate a critically important issue that people don’t think about unless they are personally touched. Says Valient, “If I can go from a hospital bed to playing in front of a crowd of 75,000 at the UK’s Download Festival in just eight weeks, people out there might consider becoming organ donors as well. If they have family members who need a kidney, it’s definitely something to think about; and if not, they can still learn about designating themselves as organ donors on their driver’s license.” More information on kidney donations can be found at http://www.kidney.org or http://www.livingdonors.org
Says Catherine Paykin, Transplant Services Program Director, National Kidney Foundation, “We are delighted that Valient Himself has decided to take his donation story public. We hope that it serves to shed light on the lifesaving power of organ donation and encourages others to get involved. We wish him and his father a speedy recovery.”
Prior to Valient Himself’s scheduled surgery on April 29th, the band will play a private show at the Volcom skate park on April 8th to air May 29th on Fuel TV’s Check 1, 2 . They will resume their European tour on June 13th and return to the U.S. for a nationwide tour beginning in July. Information on specific dates will be posted as available on http://www.ValientThorr.com
Valient Thorr will release IMMORTALIZER on June 17 on Volcom Entertainment. The new record — their fourth in five years — is a testament to the band’s hard-working existence, with a staggeringly productive tour schedule that finds them averaging close to 250 dates a year (this surgery rest being Valient’s longest time off since 2003). IMMORTALIZER was recorded in Seattle with the legendary Jack Endino, producer of seminal albums by Nirvana, Soundgarden and Mudhoney as well as younger upstarts Hot Hot Heat and High On Fire. IMMORTALIZER follows in the footsteps of the band’s self-released 2003 debut Stranded on Earth, their 2005 Volcom debut Total Universe Man, and 2006’s Legend of the World. New guitarist Voiden Thorr brings a sharper metal edge into the fold, joining fellow six-stringer Eidan Thorr, drummer Lucian Thorr and bassist Nitewolf.
*Guitarists Slash and Buckethead Will Not Be Eligible For Free Soda
PLANO, Texas, March 26 /PRNewswire/ — Tired of a world in which Americans idolize wannabe singers and musicals about high schoolers pass as rock ‘n roll music, Dr Pepper is encouraging (ok, begging) Axl Rose to finally release his 17-year-in-the-making belabored masterpiece, Chinese Democracy, in 2008.
In an unprecedented show of solidarity with Axl, everyone in America, except estranged GNR guitarists Slash and Buckethead, will receive a free can of Dr Pepper if the album ships some time — anytime! — in 2008. Dr Pepper supports Axl, and fully understands that sometimes you have to make it through the jungle before you get it right.
“It took a little patience to perfect Dr Pepper’s special mix of 23 ingredients, which our fans have come to know and love,” said Jaxie Alt, director of marketing for Dr Pepper. “So we completely understand and empathize with Axl’s quest for perfection — for something more than the average album. We know once it’s released, people will refer to it as “Dr Pepper for the ears” because it will be such a refreshing blend of rich, bold sounds — an instant classic.”

3 DOORS DOWN CLOCK OUT OF THE BOX RADIO HIT
WITH SMASH SINGLE ‘IT’S NOT MY TIME’
First Single From New Self-Titled Album Rock Radio’s #1 Most Added
Fastest Moving Active Rock Record in last Five Years
New Self-Titled Studio Album In-Stores May 27
(New York, NY, March 24, 2008) Universal Republic rock icons 3 Doors Down are putting up massive radio numbers with their first single, “Its Not My Time,” from their soon-to-be released self-titled album, due in-stores on
May 27. Their much anticipated fourth studio album has spawned rock’s biggest radio hit of the year so far, with the debut single becoming the fastest moving song at Active Rock radio in the past five years. The #1 most added song at Alternative radio the past 3 weeks in a row, “It’s Not My
Time” was also the biggest Gainer at the coveted rock radio format, leaping from #20 to #16 as it closes in on the prestigious 50,000 mark in digital sales in less than a month of release.
“The early radio success of “It’s Not My Time” is an incredible indication of more great things to come from this band and this album,” stated Monte Lipman, President & CEO of Universal Republic Records. “3 Doors Down have
become a signature presence in rock through hard work and passionate songwriting that speaks directly to their audience. They have delivered a career-defining album that we cannot wait to get into the hands of fans.”
The new CD has already got internet fans buzzing, with talk of other choice tracks such as the adrenalin-fueled “Train,” and the rousing “It’s The Only One You’ve Got“, pointing to more milestones from the Mississipi fivesome, from a new album steeped in rock anthems and power-driven radio hits.
The follow-up to their #1 debut album, 2005’s Seventeen Days, lead singer Brad Arnold cites this effort as perhaps the most communal band effort. “3 Doors Down has always been about every band member giving everything we’ve got,” says the singer/songwriter. “On this album we really wanted to make every song count. We owe it to our fans who have been there to support us from day one.”
The group’s followers have embraced “It’s Not My Time” in record numbers, making it one of the bigger request records of the new year. The single’s jump from #10 to #4 on the Active rock chart marks one of the fastest launches into the Top Ten of any 3 Doors Down song in their history.
With nearly 13 million albums sold worldwide, the fiery group has rewritten the rock script on maintaining commercial success and securing rabid fan appeal without bowing to trends or compromising their grassroots approach.
Braced by front-man Brad Arnold’s enduring vocal power, 3 Doors Down has put together an amazing streak of powerful albums and chart-topping singles, including their 6 million selling 2000 breakthrough effort, The Better Life,
and epic mega-hit signature songs such as the #1 “Kryptonite,” and “When I’m Gone,” from 2003’s 4 million selling epic, Away From The Sun.
The group also broke with convention when writing the songs for the new album, holing up in a Nashville cabin together until the songs were completed, and then hightailing it down to Orlando, FL, to record the new CD with producer Johnny K. (he also helmed Seventeen Days).
The group kicked off a Spring tour in Panama City Beach, FL. on March 20th, and continue on with promotional stops that include kicking off the Indy Race Car season on March 29th at the Homestead Miami Speedway, and a highly
touted upcoming show in association with the NCAA CokeFest on April 6 in San Antonio, CA. 3 Doors Down will film a Coke commercial during their show on the 6th which will air before the NCAA Championship Game on April 7. The
band are also lined up to appear at the Gridiron Bash in Tempe, AZ on April 18th.
On May 17th Dale Earnhardt Jr. will drive his third 3 Doors Down car in NASCAR’s All Star Race at Lowe’s Motor Speedway in Charlotte, N.C.
Whitesnake has put a new song up on their myspace page. Go their page and click on the player on the left side to listen to the new tune called “the Best Years”!
The new CD, Good To Be Bad, will be released in the United States on April 22nd.
Good To Be Bad, sounds like a good mix of late 70’s and mid 80s Whitesnake.
Guitarist Doug Aldrich is going to blow you away!!

Miami, Florida-based hard rock band BLACK TIDE has sold 11,400 copies of its debut album, “Light from Above”, in the United States in its first week of release to debut at position No. 73 on The Billboard 200 chart.
After months of anticipation, BLACK TIDE has finally unveiled the video for its blazing single “Shockwave”. The Travis Kopach-directed (BUCKCHERRY, PANIC! AT THE DISCO) directed clip finds the group turning a non-descript suburban home into a frenzy of moshing fans and skateboarders pulling tricks on a half-pipe! The motocross bad boys of the Metal Mulisha also make an appearance making this video a throwback to the glory days of ’80s metal!
Watch the clip at MTV.com.
“Light from Above” was released on March 18 via Interscope Records. The CD was recorded with producer Johnny K, who has previously worked with DISTURBED, MACHINE HEAD and SOIL, among others.
BLACK TIDE burst onto the metal scene with a month-long stint opening up the main stage of Ozzfest. According to a press release, the band “not only embrace the charisma, character and unwavering attitude of those who shredded before them, but they do so in a manner that would make the virtuosos that inspired them proud. The results are a renegade metallic assault that America hasn’t encountered since METALLICA killed ’em all in ’83. BLACK TIDE are not only bringing music back from the dead, but they’re returning the power to metal. The meltdown is long overdue…”
The legendary band BOSTON will headline the outdoor festival at Marina Park on Friday, June 6 in Thunder Bay, Ontario, at one of the Canadian stops of the Great Race 2008. The ‘round-the-globe motor sports event will be making a pit stop in Thunder Bay as a part of its centennial anniversary. The show kicks off a summer of stadium, concert and festival dates that will span the United States and Canada.
BOSTON will be bringing two new recruits on tour this year. Singer/songwriter/guitarist Michael Sweet, veteran Stryper frontman will both sing and trade riffs with Gary and Tom on guitar. Unexpected phenomenon Tommy DeCarlo, the fan that posted his BOSTON covers on his myspace.com page and ended up on stage, will also be belting out the classics that skyrocketed the band to worldwide fame.
Many remember where they were when they first heard “More Than a Feeling” or “Hitch a Ride” on the airwaves back in 1976. BOSTON’s self-titled first album has sold over 17 million copies to date, and was the highest selling debut of all time. It remains a rock classic, and has seen a resurgence in sales after it was remastered by Scholz, along with their second album, “Don’t Look Back,” in 2006. “Amanda,” off 1986’s Third Stage, shot to the top of the charts and held a record-breaking stay at #1, in spite of being the only hit single that year not accompanied by a TV video.
With over 30 million albums sold worldwide, hits like “Peace of Mind,” “Smokin’,” and “Rock and Roll Band” are still as ubiquitous on rock and roll radio as they were when they were new. Coinciding with the summer tour is a fully re- mastered Greatest Hits CD (Sony Legacy.) Lead-off singles from all five BOSTON albums will be included, as well as new photos from throughout the years and liner notes written by Tom Scholz.
BOSTON will be performing many of their classics, including some fan favorites that have not been on the set lists for many years. Check back for more confirmed shows in your area and read the biographies of Michael and Tommy on the Musicians Page of the main site. We’ll see you this summer!

If the 4 song EP, Unbecoming by Dallas Perkins give any indication what the future holds for this talented guitarist, then I expect big things for him in the near future.
This four song EP includes the guitar wizadry and vocals of Dallas Perkins, the bass of Aaron Samson (ODIN), and the drums of David Moreno (Love/Hate). Unbecoming was edited, mixed and produced by Neil Citron.
Dallas Perkins has a cool, soulful quality about his voice, that is unlike anyone that I have listened to recently. Unbecoming has a mixture of styles that includes pop, rock and metal. Each time I spin this I hear something different but one track always seems to draw me in is Kurukshetra. This is the hardest and my favorite tune on this disc. This song shows the most potential of Dallas. I hope he continues down this path for future recordings.
Unbecoming offers a nice appetizer of tunes by Dallas Perkins. I found myself wanting to hear more after this. I think you will too!

The metal band Sandalinas, from Sweden has a new video called Not Seen Before. This is off of their new album, Fly to The Sun available in stores now.
Multi-platinum hard rock giants, Disturbed, will finally unleash their new album, Indestructible, on June 3rd! The band recently filmed a video for, “Inside the Fire,” the first single from the album, with Nathan “Karma” Cox, who has directed clips for Queens of the Stone Age and HIM among others. Disturbed will kick off their US tour with a series of headlining dates starting April 26th before taking their brand of pummeling metal and dynamic hard rock on the road as part of the “Rockstar Mayhem Tour.” The mega-package tour, conceived by “Warped Tour” founder, Kevin Lyman, and his “Taste of Chaos” partner, John Reese, will start in July and find Disturbed sharing a stage with Slipknot, Dragonforce, Mastodon and several other heavy hitters! Excited to get their new music out to their fans, they’ve also posted the scorching, “Perfect Insanity” as a free download on their official website. This is a re-worked, much heavier version of a song the band recorded early in their career.
Check out the tune Inside the Fire here!!
Nearly a decade after the release of their groundbreaking debut, The Sickness, Disturbed have become one of the most passionate and well-respected bands in the hard-rock universe, a dependable source not only of pummeling riffs and jackhammer beats, but of personal and political insights into our troubled times. Yet success (in the form of three platinum-plus albums, with both Believe and Ten Thousand Fists topping Billboard’s album chart and over nine million albums sold) hasn’t dulled this Chicago-based foursome’s taste for adventure. If anything, Disturbed’s loyal fanbase has pushed the band to newer heights of self-expression. So it makes sense that on the occasion of their fourth album, Indestructible, that frontman David Draiman, guitarist Dan Donegan and drummer Mike Wengren decided to take the reins and produce themselves in the studio.
“Doing three records with Johnny K taught us a tremendous amount,” Draiman says of the industry veteran who helmed The Sickness, Believe and Ten Thousand Fists. “We’re always trying to evolve and try new things and experiment,” adds Donegan. “So this time we wanted to do things a little bit differently.” Wengren says that Indestructible—which the band tracked over three months in Fall 2007 at Chicago’s Groovemaster Recording—afforded the band the “opportunity to prove to ourselves and to everybody else that we could do it.” The result of Disturbed’s experimentation in the studio is the group’s darkest, angriest outing yet. Inspired by two and a half years’ worth of challenging experiences, Draiman told the rest of the band that he was in the mood to purge. Fortunately, they were right there with him.
“We wanted to get back to some of the elements that were maybe lacking on the last two records,” says Donegan. “David’s got a great ability to sing really melodically, but we wanted him to get back to the rhythmic, animalistic, rapid-fire delivery he’s known for. He’s very hard to touch when he does that, and we wanted to give him music to provoke that.”
Indestructible reflects that intensity of emotion across a broad spectrum of songs: “Deceiver” takes to task a former girlfriend of Draiman’s whom he calls “a master of deception.” “Divide” celebrates the will of the individual against the conformity of the masses. In “Haunted,” which Draiman calls a veiled critique of Los Angeles (where he lived for a few years before recently moving back to Chicago), a place of love becomes a nightmare landscape populated by demons masquerading in human form. “Inside The Fire” imagines the devil encouraging the singer to take his own life as a way of rejoining his dead girlfriend. (“Writing this record is the reason I don’t have therapy bills,” Draiman notes.)
Two of the album’s most powerful tracks address the situation in the Middle East, with “Enough” lamenting the causes of war and the suffering it causes, and the title track offering support for the troops “or anyone else looking to strip themselves of fear,” as Draiman says.
Throughout Indestructible, Donegan, Wengren and Moyer back up Draiman’s words with some of the most visceral, sophisticated music they’ve ever created. Donegan says his goal was to increase the dynamics—“to have the highs be higher and the lows be lower”—and to make more cohesive the relationship that exists between guitar, bass and drums and the band’s signature electronics.
“I don’t wanna sound arrogant,” says Wengren with a laugh, “but I think we’ve made the kind of record the industry needs right now. There are not a lot of heavy bands delivering these days. I think our fans—and fans of this genre—will go absolutely nuts for this.” “People never lose their desire for aggressive music,” adds Draiman. “And we’re happy to keep giving it to them.”

Da Revolution is HERE U.S.A !!!
If Lemmy Kilmeister from Motorhead sang for AC/DC, it would have to sound some like Philadelphia’s, American Speedway.
Singer Michael Thursby Speedway has the same style of hard edged course vocals as Lemmy. The one difference I have found on this rocking set of tunes, is that punk vibe that they give off. American Speedway seems to have one foot in hard rock, and the other in the punk world. Either way, it seems to work for them.
Speedway’s coarse voice may not be for everyone, but if you like Motorhead, chances are you will probably like American Speedway as well. Ship of Fools is a short set (less than 30 minutes in length) of high energy, bar room rock. It isn’t original, but it definitely rocks. This is the kind of music, that no matter how hard you resist you will find yourself tapping your foot, and ready to crack open a cold one.
You can check some of American Speedway’s tunes at their myspace page here. For you Vinyl fans, if you act quick enough, you an get a copy of Ship of Fools on LP, that comes with a copy of the CD at the same price. Get it now from SeeofSound.com!

Justice Department Gives Sirius-XM Merger the OK
The Justice Department on Monday approved Sirius Satellite Radio Inc.’s proposed $5 billion buyout of rival XM Satellite Radio Holdings Inc., saying the deal was unlikely to hurt competition or consumers. The deal was approved without conditions despite opposition from consumer groups and an intense lobbying campaign by the land-based radio industry.
The combination still requires approval from the Federal Communications Commission, which prohibited a merger when it granted satellite radio operating licenses in 1997.
The Justice Department, in a statement explaining its decision, said the combination of the companies won’t hurt competition because the companies are not competing today. Customers must buy equipment that is exclusive to either XM or Sirius, and subscribers rarely switch providers.
“People just don’t do that,” said Assistant Attorney General Thomas Barnett, in a conference call with reporters.
The government also appeared to endorse the argument of the companies that they compete with other forms of audio entertainment, including “high-definition” radio, Internet-based radio stations and even devices like Apple Inc.’s iPod.
“The likely evolution of technology in the future, including the expected introduction in the next several years of mobile broadband Internet devices, made it even more unlikely that the transaction would harm consumers in the longer term,” the Justice Department said.
The buyout received shareholder approval in November. The companies said the merger will save hundreds of millions of dollars in operating costs — savings that will ultimately benefit their customers.
XM Satellite shares rose $1.97, or 16.5 percent, to $13.90 in afternoon trading after the government’s announcement, while Sirius shares rose 28 cents, or almost 10 percent, to $3.18.
