Nevada Beach – Zero Day (Release Year – 1990)

Nevada BeachOne of the more surprising yet lesser known CD’s in my collection is Zero Day, by Nevada Beach.

Nevada Beach has a sound that I would call a cross between Dirty Looks, Britny Fox and Great White. Singer Hank Decken reminds me of Henrik Ostergaard from Dirty Looks, but while that band has a style similar to AC/DC, Nevada Beach’s sound is more of a hard rock/pop metal sound.

Nevada Beach had a hit with their song, Waiting For An Angel, on the MTV Headbanger’s Ball, but never really achieved the level of success that so many of the bands from the early 90’s did. It is a shame, as Zero Day isrrrmed a very good CD, and one that will appeal to most hair metal fans. Zero Day is on Metal Blade Records, and this isn’t the type of artist that this particular label is known for.

With Nevada Beach being one of the lesser known bands of the era, you can still find copies of their CD, and sometimes Vinyl, on Ebay and Amazon.com for less than 10 bucks. If you are a fan of music from the hair metal era, you will most certainly enjoy this record. I recommend grabbing a copy before these all disappear!

Hank Decken is now “Rosie” band in New England area. Still rocking his butt off and better than ever. He does “Waiting for an Angel” in one of his sets. He kicks ass doing a Hendrix song too…..but then he kicks ass in every song he does. A lot of people say he does the song better than Hendrix. Hank is on FB so check out his listing as to where he’s playing weekly. Laconia bike week right now !
