FastwayFastway is the band started up by former Motorhead guitarist “Fast” Eddie Clark and ex-UFO bass player Pete Way.

I used to like Fastway fairly well, but it has been a long time since I have given their self titled debut any plays. I thought I would dust the cobwebs off this disc, and see what I think about it in 2008.

There are two must play songs on this disc, Easy Livin’ andCMR Say What you Will. Say What You Will is easily Fastway’s biggest hit. This hard rock anthem was a staple on the radio for many years, and is still favorite of mine.

Digging deeper into this record, and you can easily hear the influence of Led Zeppelin in the music. There are several heavy tunes with that same style of Zeppelinesque groove.

While the music isn’t very original, it is a very good piece of 80’s metal.

Dave King has a very unique voice which is well suited to the music. “Fast” Eddie Clark plays some wicked guitar riffs all over this album. Pete Way’s heavy bass on this record is unmistakable.

Some additional tracks that I like on this disc are Feel Me, Touch Me, Heft!, and Give It All You Got.

This isn’t a perfect album by any means, but still deserves a few spins from time to time. It is a solid disc and is one that I still think is worth having in my collection. You can check out the video for the tune, Say What You Will below!

Pete Way Dave King rejoin Fastway?? A talked about possible US Tour back before “Fast Eddie” did that over seas metal hell thing. It could happen if a supportive “ROCK BANDS” could help out in setting up a major Metal 80’s Tour in the Fall for 2008. Greats like Ritchie Blackmore and Joe Lynn Turner from Rainbow and Ronnie James Dio looks about right. Can’t wait to hear the METAL GODS come down to earth. As far as getting King to perform?, well it’s time. Also note that -Yes- is touring now and Led Zeppelin is also possible in the Fall.OK, THIS IS FOR ALL THAT DON’T HAVE A CLUE IN THIS WORLD WITH THEIR “fricken” lingo attitude. -(Like the songs from Fastway is Fast Eddie Clarke’s best work if yor not too brainwashed by MTV’s VH-1 and fm radio and satelite rerun rock)- Were tired and want somthing better, like truth, beats the lies the tv-libs makes us swallow day after day. As far as the rock truth, I been in the front row giving out white sun glasses to top performers last Summer. Funny, like Ted Nugent ran and hid in his “bombshelter” after the Penns Peak show!! Instead I gave to his basist and ask he should sing more, mainly because Teds voice was not on alot of the tracks in the day. Back to the the main thing here, FASTWAY has loads of hits even though the industry dosn’t support anyone with low numbers. Computer says generally you won’t like them their 101 on the list and plus they didn’t pay their royalties so they can get atleast a paycheck from the proceeds from the sales of blank tape CD’s and downloaded mp3 & etc. So what did we learn? You can’t get blood from a stone. So I hope if the industry and great Classic 80’s Rock Fans can join in for the push for this to happen “NOW”. ALSO WE ALL COULD USE A LITTLE EXTRA HELP HERE, SO IF EDDIE TRUNK IF YOU ARE OUT THERE CAN TALK TO THE GODS, EDDIE TRUNK FROM JERSEY HELP SAVE ROCK&ROLL

…From Jersey Gary “CLASSIC 80’s METAL ROCK 101”

A few months ago, I listened to this and Trick or Treat. I remembered liking Trick or Treat better back in the 80s, but I actually feel the opposite now.

Mark, I’m surprised you missed this opportunity to refer to “Medium-paced” Eddie Clark. It was a big step down form his work in Motorhead.

Dave King is now in Flogging Molly, an Irish folk/punk band.

Fastway were alright, I think I always had problems accepting them because Fast Eddie was so good in Motorhead and he left when they were at a high point. The Trick or Treat soundtrack might actually be my favorite Fastway album.
