I have purchased DL’s latest effort and I am quite impressed. Each track demonstrates Lep’s ability to write & produce very melodic & flavorful tunes with some amazing hooks and melodies. Perhaps listen to the LP a few times to help get better acquainted. I thought “X” was an amazing effort, too bad it did not do better commercially. But Songs from the Sparkle Lounge has every bit of Lep flare & flavor. Each member of Lep shows their individual talents on numerous tracks. Great quality and cathy rock / pop tunes. Rather than listen to critisize, simply listen to enjoy. Nice job Lep.
I have to agree with you there Bob. The whole Tim McGraw thing is pretty weak. I know he has massive star power in the country music scene, but I am not really digging his vocals on the track too much.
I hope the rest of the album is better than this.
There are some hints of Hysteria-era DL in there if you listen closely, but it’s largely watered down. Other than their covers album, which was surprisingly good, they haven’t done anything worthwhile in what? 20 years? The Tim MacGraw angle is a nice try to do something different, but it doesn’t really add much.
