Soundstone – Scratchin’ At My Door (Release Year – 2007)

If the the four gentlemen in Northern Ireland’s Soundstone have their way, they will soon be following their countrymen The Answer, into the mainstream.

Their three song EP, Scratchin’ At My Door is a modern rock CD that has a sound with elements of 70’s classic rock, and a small bit of 80’s hard rock. The tunes are good enough for current rock fans to digest, and could easily work on rock radio today.

Adrian McAleenan has some very cool guitar solos. Declan Bannon’s vocals are pretty good. His sound reminds me of a cross between Andrew Stockdale from Wolfmother, and a small dash of Ian Astbury from the Cult.

Scratchin’ At My Door shows a lot of promise for this Irish four piece. I hope they put out a full length disc for us to listen to soon.

To here these songs, and ton find more information on Soundstone, check them out on their myspace page.
