It is hard for me to believe that is has almost been 20 years since Pretty Boy Floyd’s debut, Leather Boyz with Electric Toyz. It has been a long time since I listened to this disc, as I only picked up a copy of this CD, only recently. I once owned a copy of this on cassette tape, but that tape bit the dust a long time ago.

I somewhat recall the band having a sound similar to Motley Crue, but aside from the title track, I could not remember much of the album.

Steve Stevens vocals do remind me of Vince Neil’s vocals from the Too Fast For Love album, but I believe the style of music is a little closer to Poison than Motley Crue. I don’t think Pretty Boy Floyd is as good as either of those two bands. I did enjoy their songs, Rock & Roll, the Motley Crue Cover, Toast of the Town, and the title track, Leather Boyz With Electric Toyz, but aside from that, I found this to be fairly standard stuff. This is a CD for hair/glam metal fans only.

Pretty Boy Floyd will reunite for the Rocklahoma Music Festival on Saturday July 12th. If you are looking for a copy of Leather Boyz With Electric Toyz, prior to the show, you can purchase the CD at this link.

If you were’nt IN the scene, AT the scene (Hollywood Palace ’89-’90), you won’t have a clue about these guys and countless others. It was a phenomenal time and these guys brought the house down. I’m as critical as anyone but I certainly give credit where credit is due.

This guys still sound good but it was pretty sad there was like 52 people on thursday nigh at jaxx spring field va the other week.
I think they were working for drinks that night figure 12 bucks a head. They did make me laught in there perverted remarks like there still back in 80s getting girls ahha
All i got say they sill sound dam good i think i tour in Europe like most 80s metal bands are doing.

If there was a sign back in the day that labels were signing anything without any criteria whatsoever, this was it.
Awful band in any category you choose.

I have to agree with Metal Mark, not very original. 1989 was the year of the copycat bands. Every label was signing anything with long hair and putting bands in the Poison/Motley Crue/Bon Jovi/Def Leppard formula. I have the album, its collecting dust in my CD racks but I go back and listen everytime I read someone praising it. Actually, I believe their was a PBF discussion recently on another blog and I re-listened to this record, just as bad as a good Trixter record!

Not really a single original idea on this album, but it’s fun so that’s why it works to some extent.

There were many radio tunes on here from old Z-Rock or hair band radio stations back in the day. Was a very good album and this music still beats Alternative geek rock!
