0 Big Cock to Perform at Rocklahoma!
Prior, OK, June 27th, 2008 – BIG COCK, The Hardest Band in the Land, has been invited to perform at the second annual Rocklahoma Festival, Saturday July 12th, 2008 – on the Retrospect Stage at 10:30 AM.
BIG COCK has proclaimed themselves the heir-apparent to the rock & roll throne, reverently treading in the footsteps of classic rock bands such as AC/DC, Van Halen and Guns N’ Roses. Delivering a gospel of fast cars, hard-partying, and the trail of a thousand soiled hotel room sheets; Big Cock is coming to put the ROCK in Rocklahoma.
BIG COCK is vocalist Robert “BMF” Mason (Lynch Mob, Cry of Love), guitarist Dave Henzerling (a.k.a. David Michael-Philips – King Kobra, Keel, Lizzy Borden), John “Drum Pulverizer” Covington (Invasion, Rhino Bucket) and bassist Colby.
BIG COCK is supporting their third release MotherLoad, available at Amazon, iTunes, Best Buy and any music store with balls big enough to put BIG COCK in their bins. With over a million combined video views on YouTube along with endless rave reviews worldwide, BIG COCK predicts Saturday July 12 will go down in history as “BIG COCK-lahoma”.

13 Hard Rock Park – The Review
What does a hard rock music junkie, like myself do on vacation? I visit the brand new $400 million dollar Hard Rock Park in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. The same folks that operate the Hard Rock Cafe, built this new theme park on the site of a closed down outlet mall in Myrtle Beach. The park opened in April, and had its Grand Opening in June 2008.
My wife and I enjoy visiting the Hard Rock Cafe when we get the opportunity to travel, so we thought the Hard Rock Park had to be pretty awesome.
In some ways, the Hard Rock Park, is just that, awesome. In other ways, it is quite lackluster.
The Hard Rock Park gets it right when it comes to the music themes. Just like their famous eateries, this park’s 55 acres are filled to the max with the hard rock theme. The British Invasion, and Abbey Road was one of my favorite areas. There are three other themed areas, Rock and Roll Heaven, Born in the USA, and Cool Country.
The park’s brand new Roller Coaster, Led Zeppelin the ride, is a pretty cool steel coaster with 6 inversions. (See Video Below). This is easily the best ride in the park. The rest of the park has a few rides scattered amongst its themed areas. Maximum RPM (not working when we were in the park), Knight of White Satin, the ride (a total snooze fest in 3-D), London Cab Ride (similar to the Scrambler), Slippery When Wet ( a hanging coaster like ride, designed to get you soaked), Just a Swingin’ (swing ride). I may have missed one or two rides, but that is basically it. There is a water area, for those who brought their suits can get soaked. (You will need it on a hot South Carolia summer day.)
If you enjoy live shows at a park, HRP has a few those for you to take in. If shopping is your thing, there are plenty of shops to check out the rock themed merchandise. The restaurants in the park have good food, but it is pricey, even for theme park food. Sadly, their is no Hard Rock Cafe, in the Hard Rock Park, that would have been a nice bonus.
On the day we visited the Hard Rock Park, there were an amazing low amount of visitors, and we could get on any ride within just a few minutes (including the Led Zeppelin roller coaster).
The park does have a large pavillion for live concerts. This gives HRP a load of potential. It is going to take a lot more than KC and the Sunshine band to draw a large crowd.
The Bottomline: Hard Rock Park is a beautiful park, and it is well put together. The admission ($50.00 per person) is far too steep for a park offering such little amusement. There are not enough rides to keep you occupied for a very long period of time. In 3-4 hours and you can do everything this park has to offer. If you are a roller coaster afficianado like myself, you will be greatly disappointed. Unless, you plan to ride, Led Zeppelin the ride, 10 or more times, I doubt you will get your money’s worth at the park. If you have a family of four, you can get a 4 pack of tickets for $40.00 bucks. That offers little solace to those having to pay full price. With about 10 – 12 more rides, this place could be spectacular. As it stands today, the Hard Rock Park doesn’t offer enough thrills or amusement for its entry price.
2 Hard Rock Music in Commercials
It never ceases to amaze me how much music from the 80’s and early 90’s have been used in television commercials.

0 Warrior Records Announces Crash Kelly – Hard Glam Rock with Renown Classical Guitarist Sean Kelly
Sean Kelly grew up in North Bay Ontario, studying the classical guitar but also digging the sounds emanating from his 12-watt stereo system; Kiss, Van Halen, and Guns N’ Roses.
Warrior Records announced today that Crash Kelly, created from influences of mega-groups Alice Cooper, Cheap Trick, KISS and Queen will be releasing their third album, “One More Heart Attack,” on July 29th, but it is a debut CD on Warrior.
The new Crash Kelly band consists of Sean Kelly, on guitar and vocals, Gene Scarpelli (son of Gino Scarpelli, guitarist for Canadian hard rock legends GODDO), Tim Timleck on drums, and long time Crash Kelly co-hort Allister Thompson, who has switched from guitar to bass.
“This is a really great group of classy rock pros, and they are all well-represented on the new album, ‘One More Heart Attack’ coming to stores in America on July 29th,” said vocalist and leader of Crash Kelly.
“What makes us different this time around is the fact that I brought in some different players and also did some outside writing with Moe Berg on a few key tracks,” explained Kelly. “This album is much more focused and I think it’s sonically the best thing Crash Kelly has ever done. It also rocks a little harder.”
Kelly noted the new album has some classic rock input, too. Gilby Clarke (Guns N’ Roses, Rock Star: Supernova) helped produce the new album for the second time. “Gilby has a great ear for arrangement, getting great guitar tones, and solid performances. I think we’re cut from the same cloth, musically speaking,” commented Kelly.
Crash Kelly has just finished up a Canadian tour with Gilby and now have their sights set on an American tour, which Kelly has not done since he toured with Alice Cooper in 2006. Forthcoming dates to be announced.

Jul. 31 – San Juan Capistrano, CA @ The Coach House
Aug. 01 – Las Vegas, NV @ Wasted Space at The Hard Rock Casino

Aug. 16 – Denver, CO @ Hawgfest
Aug. 29 – Houston, TX @ Rock the Bayou Festival
LYNCH MOB‘s U.S. tour with CINDERELLA, WARRANT and LYNAM was recently cancelled after CINDERELLA frontman Tom Keifer‘s left vocal cord hemorrhaged during rehearsal, thereby making it impossible for him to sing in the immediate future.
5 Chinese Democracy in August?!
According to Gnrdaily.com, Amazon.co.uk is now listing the release date of GUNS N’ ROSES’ Chinese Democracy as August 25th. It is worth noting that they have previously listed its availability as September 2007, February 2008, and December 2008. Because of this, it is hard to put any faith in these dates. Amazon only knows what they are told by the record companies.
Perhaps more promising though, is the fact that Amazon.com finally, for the first time ever, has a page for Chinese Democracy. Again, Amazon only knows what they are told by the record companies, but this one is worth putting stock in! Why? Never before has Amazon.com put up a Chinese Democracy page.

HRH Comment: I wouldn’t hold my breath, waiting for this disc to come out. This news at least seems a little positive though.

0 Video – Disturbed – Land of Confusion
DISTURBED: TEN THOUSAND FISTS ALBUM COVER ART AND “LAND OF CONFUSION” MUSIC VIDEO
It is no secret that Todd McFarlane has been working closely ith the band Disturbed since he was approached in 2005 to design the cover art for the band’s latest album, Ten Thousand Fists. Designed and drawn by Todd McFarlane and Greg Capullo, the cover artwork features the sinister smile of Disturbed’s character, “The Guy,” surrounded by a massive throng of people with their fists thrust in the air.
David Draiman, lead singer of Disturbed, said of the album art: “We wanted to bring our old icon, the Disturbed smiley face, whom we call “The Guy,” to life. I came up with a concept that embodied what the record was about, “The Guy” leading an army of people from all walks of life and all colors of skin, with their fists raised in unison, as a symbol of unity, strength and defiance with an azure sky in the background. Being a fan of the Spawn comic book series and the artwork that Todd and his company have done in the past, we could think of no better team to bring this idea to life. We are incredibly pleased with the piece, and think it is the most striking and certainly our favorite of the three covers.”
The success of Todd’s involvement with the cover art of the album later led the band to request that Todd invest his artistic vision in the direction of a music video. Todd accepted the offer, and all four members of Disturbed visited the McFarlane Companies in Tempe, AZ to discuss various ideas for the video. Wanting to reference the album cover art, it was decided that the music video would be animated, starring “The Guy” and featuring many characters seen on the album cover.
Production began in February 2006, and now almost four months later, the video based on the song “Land of Confusion” is on the brink of its public debut. Todd and producer Terry Fitzgerald, has well as the entire animation studio in Korea, have spent countless hours designing the characters, perfecting the backgrounds, and editing the clips together to create a striking video with a powerful message. Disturbed’s “Land of Confusion” is a rerecording of the Genesis song, and like the original video, Disturbed’s own version is highly political. The 3 and a half minute video not only features characters recognizable from the band’s album cover, but also it features characters recognizable from the real world.

1 Nobody’s Fool – S/T (Release Year – 2006)
More and more cool rock keeps coming from the land down under.
Sydney, Australia’s Nobody’s Fool has a sound deeply rooted in 80’s style hard rock/ glam metal.
Their self titled record is actually their fourth cd, but the first one that I have been able to listen to. Hair metal fans should rejoice, as you will very likely enjoy what you hear on this disc.
There are quite a few rockers, and some slower tunes to even things out. Milosz Wozniak isn’t the strongest singer I have listened to as of late, but his voice works with this style of music.
There are some solid tunes worth checking out on this record including, Tie Me Up, Scorned, the power ballad Forever, and the hard rocking Temptation.
This CD is a solid slab of 80’s style hair metal. If you like the videos below, definitely seek out a copy of this disc.

1 EXREME ‘TAKE US ALIVE’ WORLD TOUR LAUNCHES ON JULY 29
Recently Announce First New Album In Thirteen Years
Saudades de Rock available August 12th on Open E Records
This summer, EXTREME will release Saudades de Rock (pronounced “sow-dodge”),
their first studio album in thirteen years which will coincide with their first
world tour in over twelve years. Saudades de Rock will be released on August 12th
on Open E Records and distributed by Fontana.
The multi-platinum, Boston-bred band’s 2008 ‘TAKE US ALIVE’ world tour gets
underway on July 29th at The Chance in Poughkeepsie, N.Y. and will be anchored
by a hometown gig two days later at the Bank of America Pavilion. In advance of
the tour, Extreme will be a co-headliner on July 11th at the five day Rocklahoma
Festival in Pryor, OK. See all current dates below.
The iconic rock foursome – vocalist Gary Cherone, guitarist Nuno Bettencourt,
bassist Pat Badger and new drummer Kevin Figueiredo – recorded their fifth
studio offering at NRG Studios in Los Angeles with Bettencourt at the helm as
producer and mixer. Saudades de Rock boasts 13 tracks, including the infectious
roar of “Star,” the groove-laden, swagger of “King Of The Ladies”, a raw funk
rock anthem called “Learn To Love”, and the expressive ballad “Ghost.”
“’Saudades’ was always a beautiful word to me,” Bettencourt explains about the
Portuguese album moniker. “It expresses a longing; an underlying sadness for
something or someone that’s been missing in your life, and never quite sure if
it will ever return. In this case, for us, it’s Rock and Roll. Saudades de
Rock.”
Gary Cherone adds, “I like how it expresses that longing we’ve been feeling to
play for our fans and be together again.”

To date, the Grammy-nominated EXTREME has released four albums, plus a greatest
hits set—selling over 10 million records worldwide. On the strength of multiple
world tours, they also achieved a #1 hit single, “More Than Words”—from their
1990 multi-platinum album Extreme II: Pornograffitti—on the Billboard Hot 100,
which they followed with the Top Five “Hole Hearted.” Although these two
acoustic hits brought the band great mainstream success, it overshadowed the
band’s trademark sound: a mix of hard rock funk in the spirit and style of their
predecessors Led Zeppelin, Aerosmith, Queen and Van Halen—fueled by
BETTENCOURT’s signature guitar flights and CHERONE’s resonant vocals—and matched
with a social consciousness in their lyrics.
OPEN E RECORDS is a new label that is distributed by Fontana. A portion of Open
E Records profits will be donated to Music Drives Us, a foundation created as a
way to support music in New England. The Foundation also gives scholarship money
for individuals who desire to continue their musical education.

2 Bomb Child – Nothing Lasts Forever (Release Year – 2006)
I must admit that I have not heard of the band, Bomb Child until only recently. Their debut, Nothing Lasts Forever was recently recommended to me, so I decided to check them out.
Man oh mercy, am I ever glad I did. Nothing Lasts Forever blasts out of your speakers at cannonball speed, and offers listeners a ferocious feast of killer hard rock.
Bomb Child has a style that reminds me of Buckcherry, but mixed with a more modern overtone that might better resemble A7X. Nonetheless, this disc rocks out and rocks hard. It is chock full of angry tunes about life, love and broken relationships.
Nothing Lasts Forever isn’t a terribly long listening experience. The ten songs on this disc clock in just shy of 34 minutes. There really isn’t a band song in the bunch.
My only disappointment is that I didn’t hear about these guys, when they were out promoting this album. I don’t think Bomb Child is together any longer, and it is a real shame, as they were a very talented three piece.
You can find copies of Bomb Child’s CD, Nothing Lasts Forever on Amazon.com for next to nothing. It is worth the small price of admission. Go get it at this link!
You can also hear a couple of the songs on the band’s myspace page.

0 Starbreaker – Love’s Dying Wish Audio Samples
Starbreaker’s self-titled debut album caused a stir in the Hard Rock world, upon its release in spring 2005. Featuring world renowned musicians such as singer Tony Harnell (TNT, Westworld, Morning Wood), guitarist Magnus Karlsson (Allen / Lande, Primal Fear), bassist/producer Fabrizio Grossi (Glenn Hughes) and John Macaluso (Malmsteen, TNT, Ark) on drums, the record garnered enormous acclaim and was featured as the cover story on the prestigious “Rock It” magazine in Germany, with fantastic reviews World wide.
Following Harnell’s departure from TNT in 2006, the band recorded in 2007 / 2008 the highly anticipated brand new CD entitled “Love’s Dying Wish”: a true Hard Rock/Metal masterpiece. The album was written and produced by Harnell and Karlsson and was mixed by respected producer Tommy Hansen (TNT, Jorn, Pretty Maids, Helloween).
New bassist Jonni Lightfoot (a touring and recording veteran with extensive credits to his name) has been added to the line up.
“Love’s Dying Wish” is a very special album that progresses from where the Starbreaker debut left off. With a fresh diversity that spans from pounding metal, to deep moody passages wrapped in a dark and beautifully melodic package. “Love’s Dying Wish” is going to blow away both old and new fans.

1 Danko Jones – We Sweat Blood (2003)
Canadian, Danko Jones has been putting new music out since 1998, but it is still largely unknown in the United States.
We Sweat Blood, is Jones’ second full length release (they now have four ). The beauty of Danko Jones music is in its simplicity. This Toronto trio isn’t breaking any new ground with their music, but they can certainly craft some catchy tunes.
Most tunes are focused around a funky bass groove and an upbeat drum rhythm, and Danko Jones unique vocals. Throw in some basic AC/DC, guitar riffs, and you can pretty much figure out the basic sound of this band.
Danko Jones vocal style sounds like a blend of Jimi Hendrix and Lenny Kravitz pureed in a blender full of punk rock.
The tunes on We Sweat Blood have a funky groove and the kind of energy that would translate well when the band performs the songs live. Some of my favorite cuts are Forget My Name, Hot Damn Woman and I Want You.
If you are looking for some new upbeat tunes to get your summer rocking, give We Sweat Blood a look. You can get copies of this disc for very little money, off of Amazon.com.

3 New AC/DC Album in August?!
According to Sony/BMG, AC/DC’s as-yet-untitled forthcoming album will be released in August.
As previously reported, AC/DC will sell its new album only through Wal-Mart Stores Inc in the United States. It is still unclear if the same distribution deal has been negotiated in Canada.
According to Wikipedia, singer Brian Johnson revealed that for the first time since the 1988 album Blow Up Your Video, he would be handling lyrics. He also said that Angus Young has written harder riffs than those on their last album, Stiff Upper Lip (2000).
The band recently finished the album in Vancouver, BC with producer Brendan O’Brien (BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN) and engineer Mike Fraser (METALLICA, AEROSMITH, VAN HALEN).

7 New Iron Maiden Tribute CD from Kerrang!
“Iron Maiden are 10% cooler than every other band!” Lars Ulrich, Metallica.
Kerrang! team up with Metallica, Machine Head, Trivium, Avenged Sevenfold and more for an a world exclusive, all star Iron Maiden tribute album!
15 of Kerrang!’s favourite bands have come together to pay tribute to the planet’s greatest metal band – Iron Maiden!
Following on from our 2006 Kerrang! Remastered CD in honour of Metallica’s Master Of Puppets, this latest collection – Maiden Heaven – features bands covering tracks from Iron Maiden’s legendary career, and will be given away free in Kerrang! issue 1219 on sale July 16.
The CD includes world exclusive performances from Metallica, Machine Head, Trivium, Avenged Sevenfold, Coheed And Cambria, Gallows and more!
Chatting exclusively to Kerrang!, Metallica drummer Lars Ulrich tells the readers how much respect the Bay Area thrashers have for the Brit metal legends.
“Iron Maiden are 10% cooler than every other band,” says Ulrich. “From their relationship with their fans, to their album covers to their stages, to their live presentation, to their photos – whatever they did was always cooler than what everyone else did! I have always had an incredible amount of respect and admiration for them and obviously getting a chance to be part of this CD feels that that has come a full circle. We played Remember Tomorrow as it was basically the blueprint for songs like Fade To Black and Welcome Home (Sanitarium), and some of the more epic ballady type of songs that Metallica had done later. We had so much fun with this!”
Machine Head frontman Robb Flynn is equally excited to be a part of this project.
“When I was a kid Iron Maiden were a very big deal to me and the influence they had on Machine Head has been huge,” he reveals. “We decided to cover Hallowed Be Thy Name for this CD because it’s just such a great song, in fact it’s a classic. I just love the way the vocal line goes up and down, so dramatic. If someone who’d never heard them wanted to know what Iron Maiden sounded like I’d point them in the direction of Hallowed Be Thy Name.”
Metal heroes Trivium are happy to admit their own brand of heavy tunes could never have existed without Maiden’s worldwide influence.
“Iron Maiden helped create what we know as heavy metal,” states frontman Matt Heafy. “Their influence can be heard on classic and contemporary bands alike; their fan base spans across the youngest and newest of heavy music recruits all the way to the diehard, life-long metal elite. We chose to play the track Iron Maiden, as the song that screamed out our love for them musically, and we knew it would be a really fun song to jam out in the studio. It was an honour to be able to play one of Iron Maiden’s tracks and have the opportunity to contribute to this amazing CD. We hope everyone has as much fun listening to it as we did making it!”
Meanwhile, Avenged Sevenfold – who have been picked to support Maiden at their upcoming Twickenham Stadium show on July 5 – say they are “honoured” to be part of this Kerrang! tribute. “Maiden are by far the best live band in the world and their music is timeless,” says vocalist M Shadows. “This also gives us a chance to expose this great song to some of our younger fans who maybe aren’t as familiar with Iron Maiden.”
UK hardcore punk rockers Gallows chose to contribute a version of Wrathchild to the collection.
“We’re actually all huge Maiden fans and while learning Wrathchild we discovered a new found respect for the band as musicians,” says guitarist Laurent Barnard. “Some of their riffs are pretty fast and Steve Harris has definitely earned his place as a bass legend! We’re so happy we were asked to be included!”
This Kerrang! Maiden Heaven CD’s arrival coincides with the band’s European leg of their Somewhere Back In Time World Tour – and follows on from the release of their own collection Somewhere Back In Time: The Best Of 80-89.
“Maiden much appreciate and are very flattered by all the time spent on this by a lot of great bands,” says Iron Maiden’s manager Rod Smallwood, “and would like to thank them, and also Kerrang!, for the honour. Thanks everyone!”

3 Koritni – Lady Luck (Release Year – 2007)
Thanks to Classic Rock Magazine, I discovered a new band from the land down under, Koritni. Sonically, Koritni has a sound similar to AC/DC, but lead vocalist Lex Koritni has a great voice that differs from the other AC/DC like bands. He has a cool raspiness, and almost a twinge of southern rock ala Lynyrd Skynyrd’s Johnny Van Zant and quite similar to Cormac Neeson from The Answer. Give it a listen and you may hear something different, but nonetheless, I like his voice, and the sound of this band.
Red Light Joint is a pretty damn good rocker to start this disc off with. This is a great foot stomping rocker with a cool Angus Young like guitar riff.
Under the Overpass is the song that I first heard from this band. This was on the February CD sampler in Classic Rock Magazine. This too is a very good upbeat rocker.
Heaven Again is an excellent mid tempo rocker that reminds me a little of Buckcherry in sound.
Highway Dream and Never Say Goodbye are both fun little rockers. My only complaint on these songs is they are a little short, clocking in less than 3 and half minutes. Both songs are extremely catchy though and a good listen.
Sick Again is a funky rocker with another killer guitar riff by lead guitarist Eddy Santacreu. This is a well written song that has a nice groove to it. It is one of my favorites on this disc.
Not Your Man is the first track that I thought was average at best. Even at that, I found it listenable, it just isn’t one of my favorites. I See the Light is a track that I could easily hear on the radio. It has a cool guitar groove to it, and is very upbeat.
If it wasn’t for the guitar work on Starving Fast, I probably wouldn’t care for this track very much. Just like Not Your Man, I thought this one was average at best.
Lady Luck could easily be a moderate hit on U.S. rock radio if given a chance. This is a pretty solid track.
Got To Get You Into My Life is an extremely cool cover of the Beatles song. This version is a bit more rocking than the Beatles version, but still stays fairly true to the original song. Great!
Ain’t No Love Song is a low to mid tempo heavy bass laden rocker. It is a solid track, but not one of the better songs on Lady Luck.
You can listen to some of the band’s tunes at their myspace page. You can also find more info on the band at their website at www.koritni.com
If you have 10 bucks that is burning a hole in your pocket, you can download this now from ITunes, or you can pick this up from some of the great CD retailers that I have listed at the Hard Rock Hideout. This CD is a must have for straight forward hard rock fans, and especially those that like bands like AC/DC, Rhino Bucket, Salty Dog and possibly some Buckcherry. Lady Luck is one of my early favorites in 2007. Check it out!!
