I stumbled on this video last Friday night. This was too damn funny not to share. A fake band with a message!
When I first heard Rule the World, I thought it sounded somewhat like early Queensryche. Nonetheless, Kamelot has a pretty cool song, and video with Rule the World. The song can be found on Kamelot’s CD, THe Ghost Opera, and The Ghost Opera, Second Coming.
Check it out below!
Poison front man, Bret Michaels, hot off his hit cable show, Rock of Love 2, has released a brand new solo CD, for us to check out.
I thought this disc was going to be all new material, instead, Rock My World has three new tracks (Go That Far, Fallen, Start Again), one remixed song (It’s My Party), and 9 tunes that were previously released on Michaels’ previous solo CD’s, Freedom of Sound and Songs of Life.
Rock My World is more or less a Bret Michaels greatest hits CD. Those of you looking for a new Poison style, glam metal CD, may be disappointed by this disc. This is a completely different sounding disc. It is a mix of styles that blends pop, rock, and dare I say, country music.
The new song, Go That Far, did not impress me at all. I saw the video, before I heard the song, and it more or less plays out to be an advertisement for Rock of Love 2. Rock My World is not without good songs, but they aren’t enough of them here. Some of the highlights are the songs Driven, the Poisonish ballad Raine, Bittersweet, and the bluesy Start Again. On the latter half of Rock My World, Bret pulls a Bon Jovi, and does a duet with country music’s Jessica Andrews. I am not a big country music fan, so I didn’t care for this song too much, but this track does have some major crossover potential.
Now that Michaels has relaunched his career as a Hollywood Icon, with the T.V. Show Rock of Love, he needs to focus on his music career, and stop treading water with released like Rock My World.
Bret will be the headliner on Thursday Night, July 10th, at the Rocklahoma music festival. He will be playing a mix of Poison tunes, and songs from Rock My World. For you Rocklahoma fans, I hope he focuses on the Poison material. This is a disc for diehard Bret Michaels fans only.

Frontiers Records is pleased to announce the release of FROM THE INSIDE second album “Visions” on August 1st 2008.
FROM THE INSIDE is the project that marked the start of the cooperation between legendary Melodic Rock singer Danny Vaughn (Tyketto) and Frontiers Records. Released in September 2004, the first album was welcomed with great acclaim from both fans and press and it finally brought Danny back to the classic Melodic Rock sounds. Together with producer Fabrizio Grossi (Glenn Hughes, Starbreaker) he was able to put together a finely crafted and top quality contemporary Melodic Rock release.
In the winter of 2007, Danny and Frontiers Records President Serafino Perugino once again discussed the production of a true Melodic Rock record in the vein of classic Journey and Tyketto that could follow in the footsteps of the successful debut – From The Inside. Fab Grossi was again recruited and the two of them worked on the songwriting, along with keyboardist Eric Ragno.
Danny says: “I always like the idea of a challenge that steps outside of what I normally do. I have to approach the writing and performing of the songs from a different angle than I would with my own stuff. Fabrizio and I set out some guide lines of the type of songs that we wanted to do and we kept coming back to the idea of doing an album with a real Journey vibe. How challenging is that? Having just come off tour with Journey themselves, I was in the right frame of mind to do that and I think the 6 songs that he, Eric and I wrote together really show what we’re capable of. “From The Inside” was a very successful album with my fans, so I was very interested in trying another one. Let’s see what they think!”
The songs were later complemented by additional killer tracks penned especially for the album by Tom and James Martin (of Khymera, Ted Poley and House of Lords fame), with “Love Is No Stranger” by Joey Carbone (Joseph Williams) later added to the album, thus completing the tracklisting.
Recording sessions finished in the winter of 2008 with Jimi Bell (House of Lords), handling guitar duties and Peter Lobo on drums. Tommy Hansen (TNT, Jorn, Pretty Maids, Helloween etc) took care of the mix in April.
The result is a truly amazing Melodic Rock album with a harder edge: a flawless collection of extremely well-written songs, with tight musicianship and the vocals… well, this just may be Danny Vaughn’s greatest vocal performance to date. “Visions” will absolutely take your breath away. A must have release for 2008!
Final tracklisting includes:
Light Years (also available on ROCK THE BONES vol. 6 sampler cd and specially available for prelistening in streaming on www.myspace.com/frontiersrecords page for the week); Making Waves; If It’s Not Love; Listen To Your Heart; Love Is No Stranger; 21st Century; Days Of Hunger; Visions; Moment To Moment; One More Night In Heaven; Push Me Off; Telemetry.
In 1985, Leatherwolf unleashed their three axe attack with their self titled debut.
If you are a metal fan that loves to hear a lot of heavy guitar work, you are going to love Leatherwolf.
This record starts off with the heavy tune Spiter, that immediately shows the prowess of their three pronged metal music. Michael Olivieri is quite a good metal singer, and he proves to be quite a solid axeman as well. Carey Howe, Matt Hurich and Michael Olivieri’s musicianship is ultra tight, and their guitar work plays off of each other well.
Leatherwolf is a hard band to compare to other acts from the era, but Iron Maiden would likely be the closes act they resemble, although their style is somewhat different. This is hard driving metal that simply kicks ass from beginning to end.
This disc has been out of print for quite some time and recently reissued by the band in 2007. The re-released version has a bonus track, Alone In the Night, which was originally recorded for the movie, Return of the Living Dead Part II. It is a nice addition to this cool disc.
Leatherwolf is still going strong with their 2007 release New World Asylum, you should definitely check out this record, as well as their latest work. If you are a heavy metal fan, buy this, you wont be disappointed. This album rocks!

What happens when a bunch of veteran punk rockers join forces to play Elvis tunes? Well, you will have to listen to the new CD, Back From the Dead to find out.
I haven’t heard an Elvis Pressley song in quite some time, and I don’t recall any recent covers of his music.
I never expected to like new variations of his music but I must admit that these new punked out versions breathe some new life into the King’s music.
The King might roll over in his grave after hearing this, and the die hard Elvis fans will cry sacrilege, but its o.k. Now there is a new Elvis CD, for rock fans to check out.
Back From the Dead is a fun, party starter type of CD that will certainly be a definite conversation starter.

Blabbermouth is reporting that the Tracii Guns version of L.A. Guns has a new singer……
The rock ‘n’ roll band L.A. GUNS, featuring guitarist Tracii Guns, has some big news heading into its Summer Blackout Tour 2008.
The band will be hitting the road this month with a couple of new members on board. In addition to Tracii Guns on lead guitar, Jeremy Guns will be on bass along with Chad Stewart on drums, and the group has enlisted new rhythm guitar player Alec “Big Al” Bauer, who has been touring with L.A. GUNS since 2007.

Casey gained recognition as a vocalist along with millions of fans during his run on the hit CBS show “Rock Star: INXS”. He was also instrumental in writing and creating new material on the upcoming L.A. GUNS album.
The boys of L.A. GUNS have another “big gun” in their pocket. The band is currently in Canada recording its new album with multi-Grammy-Award-winning producer Steve Thompson. Tracii describes the CD by saying, “This definitely will not be your father’s L.A. GUNS.” He adds that and the music is “slightly more advanced” and the lyrics are “more introspective without losing the fun nature of our rock ‘n’ roll.”
L.A. GUNS is currently signed to Alexus Records. Look for these guys on tour this summer with FASTER PUSSYCAT and BANG TANGO as they blaze a trail through a city near you.

Did you hear the George Lynch interview on the Eddie Trunk Live show on XM41 last night.
George was pretty animated, and very honest with his answers with Eddie last night.
George mentioned that they tried to do the Dokken reunion this year, but it didn’t come together. He mentioned that he is still close to Jeff Pilson, and he doesn’t want to do a Dokken reunion without him. Lynch said that Pilson will be busy with Foreigner until at least 2010, so don’t expect a Dokken reunion before then. He also said that Mick Brown is up for it as well, when or if they decide to do it.
Eddie mentioned that Don was holding out for the kind of money for their reunion where they could rent separate buses for him and George Lynch.
George was pretty animated when he heard that. He said that the bus rentals cost so much money that the bus companies end up making all of the profit off of the tours. He thought it was nuts that with them all being in their fifties that they couldn’t get along. He said for that matter, they could just throw him in a trailer on the back of the bus, with a couple of solar panels, for him and his guitar. Throw him an occasional hamburger and he will be fine.
Eddie asked him what he thought about the new Dokken album, Lightning Strikes Again. George said he has listened to the clips of it, and it sounds good. He said that Don is trying to revisit the formula of music that Dokken was known for. He doesn’t want to play that style of music, and it frustrates his fans. He said that is what 50% of the fans want to hear and Don is making a bunch of people happy.
Lynch also mentioned that he is working on a distribution deal for his new CD with London LeGrand, Souls of We. He hopes to have it out for purchase later this summer. (You can buy it now through I-Tunes, and Amazon.com as downloads.) He also hopes to tour this fall with Souls of We.
The Lynch Mob tour is about to start up soon, and he seemed pretty excited about that. He said with the addition of Tommy Aldridge and Marco Mendoza, not too many people will be upset about Mick Brown and Anthony Esposito not playing with him and Oni Logan.
He also mentioned that a new Lynch Mob record is not out of the question, as he has received offers to do another record.
This interview will be available through I-Tunes for free soon. I highly recommend that you check it out. It was one of the better ones on Eddie Trunk Live.
Apocalyptica have released a new video, featuring Corey Taylor from Slipknot and Stone Sour.
Germany continues to pump out good Melodic Rock, and Midnite Club is no exception. I must admit that I have not heard Midnite Club’s debut record, Running Out of Lies, so I really didn’t know what to expect when I fired this disc up.
What I found is a good band with strong guitar work and a very good vocalist. Guitarist, Stephen Seeger has called George Lynch one of his influences, and he makes no attempt to hide his Dokken style riffage. At times, I think he has mastered George Lynch’s style more than current Dokken guitarist, Jon Levin. Midnite CLub’s singer, Carsten Schulz reminds me a lot of Gotthard’s Steve Lee, and he might actually be a tad bit better.
Midnite Club’s music doesn’t really clone the sound of either Dokken or Gotthard though. This is due to the keyboards of Holger Seeger. At times his keyboards overpowers Midnite Club’s songs, and at other times it seems to empower them. Some of the songs on Circus of Life could have sounded better without the keyboard mix in my opinion, but even with the keyboards, most of the songs seem fairly solid.
I liked Midnite Club’s cover of the Kenny Loggins tune, Danger Zone. This was a completely unexpected cover, and not something I would expect to hear a band redo in 2008. Some other cuts that I really enjoyed were Circus, Behind My Eyes, and Shelter From the Storm.
Circus of Life is a decent mix of AOR and hard rock. It isn’t a perfect record by any means, but if you like good, melodic hard rock, it is certainly something you will want to check out!

ARTIST SERVICE is proud to announce new releases in July 2008
We are very proud to announce the signing of SARASIN A.D. – classic hard rock at its best.ARASIN A.D. “Daggers – Lust – Disgust” – release: July 11th, 2008 (Artist Service / MBM)
With a pedigree that includes names such as BILLY SHEEHAN, BRIGHTON ROCK, 24K, LOU GRAMM, TONY LEVIN, JIM GILMOUR and TOM LORD ALGE it is no surprise that a true Hard Rock masterpiece has been born! Singer PHIL NARO already provided his songwriting abilities for genre heroes such as CONEY HATCH. PETER CRISS, LEE AARON, LIBERTY N´ JUSTICE, KIM MITCHELL and many others.
Now he and his bandmates Greg Boileau (guitars), John Rogers (guitars), Rob Grant (bass) and Roger Banks (drums) are presenting a piece of classic, energetic and powerful hard rock, causing severe banging and rockin´. Classic hard rock is running through their veins and that´s definitely what the listener will get: straight forward rocking tunes with the experience and songwriting talents of SARASIN A.D.´s well established musicians.
With performances that span the globe this band leaves all audiences with the feeling that they have just witnessed hard rock artistry at it’s finest! At a time when rock music has seemed to have lost it’s punch and sincerity, “Daggers – Lust – Disgust” gives the listener a feeling that Heavy Rock music delivered the SARASIN A.D. way will always be in vogue regardless of popular trends.
True foot soldiers in the rock and roll trenches, no two gigs in their decades-spanning career have been the same – a testament to their powerful stage presence and enormous repertoire. It takes a special talent to captivate audiences with such alarming regularity, and SARASIN A.D. have it in spades. They know that it’s not just how hard they hit, it’s also the lasting impact. The result? When SARASIN A.D. play, they slay!
Other forthcoming releases in May: BRIDE “Skin For Skin” – release: July 11th, 2008 (Retroactive / MBM)
Dale and Troy Thompson, original founders of BRIDE, have once again composed and recorded 14 songs that are sure to re-awaken the BRIDE fans. Not since the release of the legendary “Snakes in the Playground has any of their CD’s been so highly anticipated. Skin for Skin is a very powerful piece of work. Dale’s vocals continue to induce and incite cold chills up the spine. Troy invents some of the most memorable and groove oriented metal licks in his career. Lawrence Bishop on bass drives the bottom end like a M1 Tank. And, unlike past releases, Skin for Skin is riddled with double bass thunder. Together all of these elements produce possibly the best work that BRIDE has ever recorded!
Lyrically Dale deals with tough subjects like racism, war, evil in the world, sacrifice and the love of one for all others. He delves headlong and addresses addiction, redemption, restoration, deliverance, and love. Dale’s son Alex, who is currently serving in the United States Air Force, even has songwriting credit as he shares his song about suicide on this CD. Alex could not perform the song himself but BRIDE did their best to interpret his thoughts and feelings.
BRIDE also invited a special guest to appear on the CD. Not since their second release Live to Die has guitar virtuoso Steve Osborne appeared on a BRIDE CD. But on Skin for Skin you will hear his phenomenal solo’s throughout.
BRIDE is universally recognized as one of the greatest live bands to date and they now have captured the live energy on a studio CD.
GRAVE ROBBER “Befraid” – release: July 11th, 2008 (Retroactive / MBM)
Formed in 2005, these devil’s rejects arm themselves with sonic, vibratory executions and images of horrific realities, bringing an onslaught of sound and warning that will ring into eternity. Rest assured, you will be afraid. You will be very afraid. Fans of Rackets and Drapes, The Misfits, Alice Cooper, Type O Negative, Gwar, Kiss, Danzig, and Rob Zombie will find themselves feeling as though they strolling in familiar musical history, yet simultaneously wading through a dense mire of uncharted territory. There’s nothing more terrifying than the unknown. GRAVE ROBBER is the one band that can hold your hand on a decidedly horrifying romp, leading you safely to the other side. Heed the call of GRAVE ROBBER. Die and escape the grave, or die eternally.
The band’s name (taken from a Petra song) references Jesus’ return as the true grave robber, when Christ’s followers we will be “raised as incorruptible, and we shall be changed” and “Death is swallowed up in victory.” (1 Cor 15:52, 54) While in church one evening, the message of Romans 6:11, which instructs to “reckon yourselves to be dead indeed to sin, but alive to God yet alive in Christ” was preached just prior to communion. This concept of being “dead” to sin and symbolically eating the flesh and drinking the blood, coupled with a passion to reach a people who are largely ignored by the church, sparked a flame in the hearts of the members of GRAVE ROBBER to begin this unique ministry.
Surreal is the debut record of super group trio, Phil Collen (Def Leppard) Paul Cook (Sex Pistols) and Simon Laffey (Girl).
My first thought going into this record was, how much of Def Leppard’s sound will be mixed into this record. Much to my surprise, not as much as I thought. Yes, there are a few Leppardisms here and there, but this is a completely different sounding record. Surreal is more of a pure rock record, and an eclectic mix of styles.
On Surreal, I hear a blend of punk, pop, hard rock, and reggae. It is a fusion of styles that make this one of the more interesting records as of late.
The song writing is somewhat simple, but it is catchy. The songs get in your head, and stay there.
Some of my favorite cuts are Turn It Up, Every Second of Every Day, Skin Crawl and Halo. These aren’t the only good songs by any means. There really isn’t a bad cut on this disc.
Not only is Phil Collen an outstanding guitarist, but he is pretty damn good in the vocal department. His vocal style is similar to Def Leppard’s Joe Elliott. The chemistry between Cook, Collen and Laffey is quite apparent, and it shows in the music. The songs are upbeat and fun to listen to. Not only do I hear Def Leppard’s influence, but I also hear a Police vibe in some songs.
The bottom line, I have been thoroughly enjoying this disc, and I think you will to. Surreal hits stores on June 3rd. Don’t miss picking this one up!

“I’m a little black girl who’ll rock your world, so keep your eye on me.”
When Daniela Cotton belts those lyrics in the song “Make U Move,” it’s an
understatement of her own vocal prowess and stage presence. This mind-blowing rocker puts every ounce of her petite frame into making sure the audience doesn’t miss a beat.
