L.A. Guns vs. L.A. Guns

Sooner or later, it will be time for one of the two L.A. Guns bands to take a stand, and fight for their name.

As you may or may not know, there are two L.A. Guns. One with Phil Lewis and drummer Steve Riley.

The second is with guitarist Tracii Guns, and singer Marty Casey (from the CBS show, Rockstar).

Recent footage turned up online with Marty Casey singing the L.A. Guns hit, The Ballad of Jayne.

This version is with Phil Lewis singing from a show I attended in the summer of 2007.

Steve Riley and Tracii Guns have a 50% ownership in the name, but in my opinion, only one band sounds 100% like L.A. Guns.

Which band deserves the name? You decide!

Have to say Phil, he rocked at the Glendive, MT show Aug 9th.

I don’t have a problem with Traci, but the Lewis/Riley version is the “real” group. I can’t imagine their gimmick of a singer actually sticking with Traci for too long.

It’s a shame, Waking the Dead is a great album and I was hoping they’d really get on a roll after that. Tales from the Strip was fine, but the lack of Traci’s playing/songwriting was apparent.

The clubs don’t need 2 touring L.A. Guns groups. They’re going to exhaust the small circuit they do have, so it makes financial sense for Traci to rejoin with Lewis & Riley. And hopefully we could get another awesome album out of it.

I’ve seen them both, love Traci but as far as LA Guns goes, it’s Phil’s version that is Guns, would love to hear new Phil Guns material that was good also but would pay to see Phil’s Guns before Traci’s. It was a shame to see Brides fold up because that was Traci’s resurection forsure.

I don’t think anyone really cares at this point. These guys ceased being much of anything back in the early 90’s. They have been a joke since then as everyone and their brother have been in this band.

Hands down the Phil Lewis version is the true L.A. Guns.
Tracii is a cool guy but that Marty Casey dude singing is pure gimmick, and the guy is clearly a fish out of water there..a fish with a tiny voice while were at it..
