10,000 B.C. – Movie Review

I was lured into watching the DVD, 10,000 B.C., mainly by its creative trailer (below), which led me to believe this would be a movie with massive special effects and a good story to follow.

10,000 B.C. is one part action flick, one part love story that is rolled into a time that most people (self included) are unfamiliar with.

The cast does not employ any A-List actors.  Stephen Straight plays the warrior, D’Leh, and Camilla Belle plays his kidnapped love interest, Evolet. Even without big name actors and actresses, the cast makes this story work.

The movie starts off a little show, but picks up pace quickly and has a few cool surprises along the way.  I thought 10,000 B.C. would have a lot more special effects than it did.  It is not not loaded with  effects, but when they are used, they are used well.

The scenes with the Sabretooth, Wooly Mammoths, and the Velociraptor like Terror Birds were pretty cool, although short.

There are a ton of factual errors in this movie, but I doubt most movie watchers will care about those.

10,000 B.C. has a good story, good effects and overall is an entertaining film.  This is definitely a flick, worthy of a rental.

Rating: Out of 5
