ARTIST SERVICE is proud to announce new releases in September 2008
We are very proud to announce the signing of NEONDAZE from Sweden and TRAGEDIAN from Germany.
NEONDAZE, hard rockers from Sweden, led by outstanding guitarist Lars Boquist, will release their self-titled debut album through Artist Service / MBM. Just turn up to eleven and let yourself be impressed by their melodic hard rock power!
TRAGEDIAN are following their metal roots with their debut release “Dreamscape”. By combining the metal sounds of yesterday and today TRAGEDIAN delivers 11 tight and atmospheric tracks many fans of the classic metal genres surely will go for!
NEONDAZE “s/t” – release: 9/12/08 (Artist Service / MBM)
Many are convinced by the opposite but sometimes you just have to watch TV to change your live. So did guitarist Lars Boquist when he watched the Swedish version of `Star Search´ one evening. Marcus Lundgren, a so far unknown singer had his appearance there performing Bon Scott of AC/DC, didn´t win the competition but was able to convince Lars with his vocal performance. Lars invited him to do an audition with his band and shortly after Marcus happened to be the new vocalist of NEONDAZE.
Guitarist Lars (ex-REPTILIAN, ex- POLE POSITION), who previously was featured in several music mags (among them Guitar Player) due to his outstanding guitar work already played with drummer Hampus Landin and bassist Jesper Lahn for several months. Hampus already gained some notable
reputation regarding his work with MISS BEHAVIOUR.
Already having loads of good songs at his disposal Lars introduced them to Marcus, Jesper and Hampus who instantly were excited about the quality of Lars songwriting talents and immediately began working out song structures, changing vocal lines and perfecting the drum basics. The result is 12 highly melodic and catchy hard rock songs able to bare comparison with many other respected bands from this genre.
The album was recorded in Lars home recording studio. The mix and mastering was done by Stefan Pettersson at Realtime Recording Studio in Norrköping.
The first song of the album “Intoxicated” was featured on Perris Records compilation `Hollywood Hairspray 7´ in September 2007.
TRAGEDIAN “Dreamscape” – release: 9/12/2008 (Artist Service / MBM)
Main man behind TRAGEDIAN is Gabriele Palermo, a gifted guitarist/bassist and songwriter, inspired by many classic metal/rock bands such as DIO, FIFTH ANGEL and 80´s era HOUSE OF LORDS. Originally formed in 2002 TRAGEDIAN went through several line-up changes, released 2 demos and contributed songs to 2 tribute samplers.
TRAGEDIAN now is ready to present its first full-length album which is titled “Dreamscape”. Along with vocalist Timo Behrens, drummer Lennart Medebach and keyboarder Ingo Salzmann Gabriele Palermo has created 10 original compositions able to impress many metal fans of different genres.
Heavy riffs, blistering keyboard/guitar solos, a tight rhythm section and the powerful and melodic voice of recently discovered vocal talent Timo Behrens are the trademarks to TRAGEDIAN´s sound.
By combining traditional metal with modern and progressive influences TRAGEDIAN is successful in delivering the perfect metal album, a distinctive collection of melodic yet powerful songs, both catchy and thoughtful.
TRAGEDIAN recently contributed its outstanding metal hymn “Conquerors” to AFM´s compilation “Power & Glory – The Best Of Power Metal Hymns Vol. 1” and thus stand in line with bands such as PRIMAL FEAR, SONATA ARCTICA, AXXIS and MYSTIC PROPHECY, just to name a few.
All albums are available in physical and digital format at http://www.musicbuymail.eu and at many shops around the world.

In 2007, West Midlands based rockers Angel House released their debut album, World On Fire. I must admit that I was not aware that Angel House was a trio until after I listened to the CD a couple of time. With that in mind, I gained some new respect for the tunes on World on Fire.
The opening cut “Mask” will grab your attention with its cool guitar solos, and overall heavy sound. This is the way you lead off an album! The song “Dying At Your Door” has a guitar sound that brings Michael Schenker to mind. “Victim 13” is a heavy tune that will make you break out the air guitar. “Superstitious Woman” has a cool 70’s hard rock vibe to it. It is a short tune, but it really jumps out of your speakers.
Peter Easthope proves to be a talented guitar player, and his vocals are pretty good too. He reminds me a lot of former Rough Cutt/Quiet Riot singer Paul Shortino.
I wouldn’t call World On Fire an amazing record, but it is a pretty solid start for Angel House. There are some tunes on this disc that makes think about classic Scorpions and UFO tunes, and that is a good thing.
With a little luck on their side, Angel House could be headed for success. This album shows the awesome potential of this group.

Sound And Fury is about to embark on a tour with Airbourne. Their new self titled CD, came out in June. Check out their new video, “18”.
When I first heard the song, “Ready to Roll” I thought I might have found a stellar new rock act to hit the scene. Canadian Rockers Jet Black Stare sure seemed to start on the right foot with this good, rocking track. This was the first song that I heard by the band. This cool new tune and the ultra cheap purchase price factored into me buying this CD.
I was hoping that more songs would follow the hard rock style of “Ready to Roll” on this disc. For this listener, In This Life starts off on a high note, and continues to taper off as the songs progress.
Jet Black Stare seemingly tried to follow the modern rock style of Nickelback, in fact, Nickelback’s drummer Daniel Adair plays on several tracks on this CD.
I totally understand a young band trying to create a sound similar to Nickelback. Whether you like them or not, Nickelback is one of the most successful rock bands in this decade, so with that in mind, it makes sense that Jack Black Stare tries to follow in their footsteps. I am not a big fan of this style of modern rock, so it has a minimal amount of appeal to me. I prefer to hear rock music, where the lead guitarists aren’t afraid to play solos. Too much of the guitar work on In This Life is drowned out by the bass and rhythm guitar.
The songs on In This Life aren’t unlistenable by means. There are a few cuts that are worth checking out on this disc including “Ready to Roll”, “I’m Breathing”, “It’s Over” and “The River”.
I believe that Jet Black Stare has a lot of potential, but they need to try to find their own sound and quit trying to be a copycat act. In This Life wont get a lot of repeat plays by me, but fans of Nickelback ought to give them a chance.

Frontiers Records is excited to announce the European release of the brand new HONEYMOON SUITE album entitled “Clifton Hill” on October 10th 2008.
Formed in 1982 by Derry Grehan (guitar) and Johnnie Dee (vocals and guitar), HONEYMOON SUITE have achieved well over a million album sales worldwide earning them multiple gold and platinum awards, thus becoming one of the most successful Canadian acts on the international markets. Albums such as the self-titled debut, “The Big Prize”, “Racing After Midnight” and “Monsters Under the Bed” are considered by press and fans like real classics of the Melodic Rock genre.
During the last 20 years the band had been touring with the likes of Heart, Journey, ZZ Top, Bryan Adams, Saga, Status Quo, Aerosmith, Jethro Tull, Night Ranger and other successful classic Rock and Hard Rock bands.
Honeymoon Suite’s original line-up reformed in 2007 and after a very successful year of touring, is now on the road again for the summer of 2008. The band will continue their non-stop touring schedule with summer shows alongside Loverboy, April Wine, Kim Mitchell and other classic rock acts.
In the meanwhile Derry and Johnnie started working on a new album together with the collaboration of original debut album producer Tom Treumuth and deciding to call it “Clifton Hill,” after the Niagara Falls, ON location where the band was formed 25 years ago. Derry Grehan explains “Clifton Hill is a famous landmark right dead centre of all the tourist activity in Niagara Falls. The picture on the album cover was taken there back around the mid-eighties when it was still a kind of cheesy tourist trap, and we wanted to show that side of it. We of course see the whole thing differently than the millions of tourists who visit there every year. The picture is also cool because we shot our “Burning in Love” video there in the early 80’s, and that’s just what it looked like then”.
On the music included on the new album, Derry has to say that “Every time Johnnie and I sit down to write a record, the sound does progress because we have lived a lot more of life than when we were all kids. We never say “the new songs are going to sound like this or that”, but this whole new album has really been somewhat of a return musically to the sound that we had in the 80’s. It’s produced by Tom Treumuth who did our first record, so it seems we’ve all come full circle, hence the title “Clifton Hill”.
The result is a incredibly mature and inspired album with all the trademarks of the classic Honeymoon Suite sound, chock full or great rock songs and fascinating mid tempos and ballads.
Final tracklisting of “Clifton Hill” includes:
An amazing return of a truly great band, don’t miss it !
Quite honestly, after listening to the Judas Priest debacle called Nostradamus, I was not looking forward to hearing another concept album in 2008. Nonetheless, Alice Cooper has unleashed his latest batch of hard rock horror in the form of a concept album. The difference between this and Nostradamus is quite simple, this album has good songs, and a whole bunch of them to boot.
The songs on Along Came A Spider follow the story of the serial killer named Spider. I wont give up all of the secrets of the story of Spider, but this is pretty good song material. In fact, I can’t remember the last time I enjoyed an Alice Cooper CD this much.
The sounds on Along Came A Spider is a pretty good balance of 70’s era Alice Cooper mixed with 80’s and 90’s style rock. Kerri Kelli and Jason Hook handle the guitar work, and they do an excellent job. The production quality on this disc is fantastic. Alice also enlists the help of a couple of friends on this disc. Slash cuts loose playing guitar on the track “Vengeance is Mine“. Ozzy Osbourne helped Alice write the tune “Wake The Dead“. Ozzy handles the harmonica solo on this song. There is no mention of Ozzy singing on this album, but If you listen closely enough, you can hear what appears to be his background vocals on this tune.
I must admit that some of Alice Cooper’s releases have always been a bit hit or miss with me. I had low expectations for Along Came A Spider. With that being said, this disc is one of the nice surprises of 2008. This is one of my favorite discs so far this year. I had a lot of fun listening to this, and I think you will too.

POISON drummer Rikki Rockett has threatened DEF LEPPARD singer Joe Elliott with a beatdown following Elliott’s recent onstage outburst in which Joe reportedly called Rockett a “fucking idiot [who has] never seen a good band before.”
In a brand new posting in the blog section of his MySpace page, Rockett writes, “For fuck’s sake, Joe Elliott! Joe, king of the power mullet, at this point you need to shut the fuck up! No more talkin’ shit. I’ll give you a choice on how you go down. Arm bar, leg lock, shoulder lock, triangle, back choke or knock out. You pick! Let’s get it on!”
Let me start off by saying that I am not a fan of the WWE. A couple of decades ago, I used to watch the WWF, when some of the classic wrestlers like Andre the Giant, The Junkyard Dog, Rowdy Piper, and Hulk Hogan were still wrestling.
I haven’t followed the WWE, and I know very few of today’s wrestlers. I typically wouldn’t give a disc like this a second look.
Whoever produced this CD, forgot to give credit to the bands performing the songs. You wont find the band names on this disc. You wil only find the name of the wrestler for who the theme was recorded for.
So why pick up the CD? Three reasons, Endeverafter, Theory of A Deadman, and Airbourne. If you are a completist, and you like to own every song, but a certain band, there may be a couple of songs on here that will interest you.
Endeverafter’s tune, No More Words was recorded for Jeff Hardy. No Chance in Hell by Theory of A Deadman was recorded as a them song for Vince McMahon, and Airbourne’s tune, Turn Up The Trouble was recorded for Mr. Kennedy.
There is also a song, Don’t Question My Heart that was performed by Saliva, with Shinedown’s Brent Smith).
The rest of the disc is mostly pop and rap music (shudder). I don’t care for either of those styles of music, so the other songs had no appeal to me. As a diehard Airbourne fan, I had to have the song, Turn Up The Trouble, and this is the only place you are going to find it.
You can find cheap copies of this disc at Amazon.com.

METALLICA has officially set Friday, September 12 as the “worldwide” release date for its new album, “Death Magnetic”. Assuming that the band has yet to announce separate release dates for the different parts of the world (since physical CDs are virtually never released on the same day “worldwide”), the September 12 date in Germany, Austria and Switzerland (where albums are traditionally issued on Fridays) would indicate that the album would arrive in the U.S. on Tuesday, September 16, with most of continental Europe getting the CD one day earlier on September 15.
Tuesdays are when almost all CDs are issued in the U.S.
METALLICA’s new CD will be available to download for Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock on the same day the album arrives in stores.
The band is offering the record for sale in numerous configurations, ranging from a digital-only release to a deluxe “coffin box” that will come with a bonus CD, a DVD, a T-shirt, guitar picks and other goodies.
“Death Magnetic” official track listing:
01. That Was Just Your Life
02. The End Of The Line

04. The Day That Never Comes
05. All Nightmare Long

SPV Records is proud to announce the U.S.A. release of Secret Voyage by Blackmore’s Night, the award winning band fronted by singer/songwriter/multi-instrumentalist Candice Night with legendary lead guitarist Ritchie Blackmore. Other members of the band include Bard David of Larchmont (keyboards/vocals), Earl Grey of Chimay (bass/rhythm guitar/vocals), Squire Malcolm of Lumley (percussionist), and Gypsy Rose (violin/vocals).
This kaleidoscopic musical journey through time and space incorporates traditional folk music from around the world. The album blends haunting ancient melodies with newly-written Night lyrics inspired by nature and fantasy, partially recorded on renaissance-period instruments, and arranged with a contemporary dramatic flair that features the brilliant acoustic and electric guitar stylings of Blackmore. This cd is sure to transport you to a simpler, more magical time, away from the stresses of modern day life.
“With Blackmore’s Night,” says Blackmore, “we have the creative freedom to play any style of music we want. We can play folk, rock, ballads, instrumentals, or tavern songs. I couldn’t do that in Deep Purple. Now I feel as if I’m not in a box anymore. ”
Inspired by their international performances, and assimilating the various melodies from the continents they’ve traversed, many of the 12 new tracks on Secret Voyage have been adapted from the folk traditions of numerous countries including France (“Gilded Cage”), Russia (“Toast To Tomorrow”), Germany (“Prince Waldeck’s Galliard”) and England (“Peasant’s Promise”). Add to that two stunning covers done distinctively in Blackmore’s Nights strongly identifiable style—the 1961 Elvis Presley hit “Can’t Help Falling In Love” and Rainbow’s “Rainbow Eyes”—and some entrancingly poignant originals.
In addition to creating the kind of haunting sonic soundscapes that captivate your mind like your fondest memories, Night and Blackmore also continue to work for the many causes they espouse. Together with World Wildlife Fund (WWF) they’ve helped plant 6,000 fruit trees in Borneo, donated time and money to help Siberian tigers, bats in Berlin, badgers in Great Britain and, at many of their concerts around the world, have established fund drives for “No Kill” animal shelters. When not touring they continue to sponsor shelter animals and even hold a private show at holiday time every year to raise funds for local animal charities. They have also banded together with C020L to help the environment by planting trees in Panama to reduce the toxins brought on by the bands touring.
Night stars as Princess Candice at the interactive theme park Magiquest, and Princess Amora at throughout U.S. and Japan. She has also been the reigning “Faerie Queen”, nominated by Faerie Magazine, at the Faerie Festivals throughout the USA and is much beloved by the children who travel miles to meet her in this role. Her film debut, House Of Eternity, is scheduled for release this fall.

Hard rock / metal band Fury UK have been confirmed to play the Bloodstock Open Air Metal festival 2008 on Saturday 16th August, at Catton Hall, Derby, on the Lava Stage. This will be the band’s Bloodstock debut & is a thrill not least due to the international artists also playing the event e.g. Nightwish, Opeth, Iced Earth, Evile & many more. The festival, which is justifiably right at the top of the gig calendar, takes place over 3 days in-all on 15th, 16th & 17th August.
This is an excellent addition to Fury UK’s exciting times currently as the band has a full gig schedule & have recently announced a September tour of the UK, including two dates with Greek power metallers Firewind, & several dates with the Swedish metal band Core Of Nation. The tour takes in London (two dates), Manchester, Bury, Leeds, Shrewsbury, Liverpool, Doncaster & Oswestry.
This year has seen things really take off for Fury UK, following the release of their “Salvation” EP. Clive Leighton, Head of Marketing for Bloodstock Festival says “Bands like Fury UK are exactly what we want at Bloodstock, representing the real future of hard rock & metal for many years to come”. The band can be contacted via their record label Rocksector Records at http://www.rocksector.com, the band website at http://www.furyuk.com & also refer to the website at http://www.bloodstock.uk.com for full details about the festival.
I stumbled on this video by Billy Idol by accident the other day. The video for Shock to the System was released in support of the Cyberpunk album. Check it out!
In 1990, Baltimore rockers, Child’s Play released their debut album on Chrysalis Records.
Strangely enough, I originally owned this on cassette tape when it first came out. I didn’t recall liking this album very much. I finally tracked down a copy of this CD, a few of months ago, and was pretty amazed with the tunes on Rat Race. It has been years since I have listened to this, and in 2008, I found this much more to my liking.
Child’s Play has a sound that I would say is a cross between Skid Row, L.A. Guns, and maybe a dash of Spread Eagle. This is very good sleaze metal with a good mix of late 80’s glam. The first four songs on Rat Race absolutely rip. This is the way to start off an album.
The band slows it down somewhat with the tune Wind, which is a mid-tempo, acoustic based rocker.
Evicted picks the pace back up, this time with drummer John Allen on vocals. Allen’s vocals sound quite a bit like L.A. Guns front man, Phil Lewis. The album rocks out all the way until the last song.
Rat Race is out of print, and is become increasingly harder to find. If you are a fan of the late 80’s and early 90’s hard rock sound, you need to find this disc. I am enjoying Rat Race, and I think you will too.
If you are curious to find out what the guys in Child’s Play have been up to, check out this website.
