Release Date: 17th November 2008
As is often the case, the most exciting and inspiring new music regularly comes from the most unexpected of sources. You see, Man Raze is not your average debut artist – they are a band whose members have already achieved multi-platinum sales worldwide in previous guises but are going back to their roots in the form of a straight up rock three piece.
Man Raze is:
Phil Collen (vocals/guitar) – Phil joined Def Leppard in 1982, and with band mate and best friend Steve Clark was able to create the bands highly influential and incredibly successful trademark dual guitar sound. Def Leppard have sold over 60 million albums world-wide to date. 20 years on from the release of their seminal “Hysteria” album, the band are fresh out of a sold out UK arena tour and critically acclaimed new album “Songs From the Sparkle Lounge”.
Paul Cook (drums) – Founder member and mainstay with one of the most influential bands of all time – the Sex Pistols. The band’s 1977 album “Never Mind The Bollocks…” has launched a thousand imitators and is constantly name checked by generation after generation of musicians. Paul Cook has also played with the likes of Johnny Thunders, Edwyn Collins and Greedy Bastards (alongside Phil Lynott and Scott Gorham) and is currently back touring with The Sex Pistols.
Simon Laffy (bass) – long time friend of Phil Collen and member of Collen’s pre Def Leppard outfit Girl. Simon handles the bulk of Man Raze’s production duties also.
“Surreal” is a band at its very best. From the punky punch to the face opener “This Is” to the dub tinged “Runnin’ Me Up”, from the pop fused “Every Second Of Every Day” to the angular guitar rock of “Skin Crawl” (originally a limited edition single in late 2005), from the dirty riffage of “Turn It Up” (already used extensively across ESPN sports channel) to the mid tempo ballsy chorus of album closer “Shadowman”, Man Raze is much more than a sum of its parts. Freed from the expectations of their former (or current) outfits, the band can play whatever they like. The sound is truly eclectic – a mix of the classic and contemporary influences that have shaped the individual members as musicians – From the Police and Trojan Records through to Bowie and Nirvana. All recordings are self recorded and produced.
Already given a critically acclaimed release in the USA, the UK album will come with a special European edition bonus disc. The bonus disc will feature 5 previously unreleased tracks – You’re So Wrong, Low live in Burbank 08, Turn It Up (Deep Dub), Runnin’ Me Up (Instrumental Dub) and Can’t Find My Own Way – Live Acoustic (Gary Crowley show).
Man Raze are set to tour the UK in late 2008

Melodic hard rockers Joetown have uploaded new tracks from their debut “Pills and Ammo” online at www.MySpace.com/Joetown. The album was released by Joetown frontman Joe Delaney’s own Joetown Records.
Hailing from Wallingford, Connecticut, Joetown has made a reputation as one most exciting live acts on the East Coast. The band’s explosive live show has allowed them to earn a cult-like following across the country, while frontman Joe Delaney’s accomplishments as a songwriter/producer have turned him into a rawk entrepreneur of the highest order. His grinding work ethic has seen him performing/recording with groups such as Kings of Reality and American Trash with Steve Broderick (Trans Siberian Orchestra), producing both albums for critically acclaimed aggressive hard rockers Gargantua Soul, while holding a prestigious position with Bugera Guitar Amplifiers that provide thundering amps to everyone from King’s X to hip-hop act N.E.R.D.
With the release of “Pills and Ammo”, Joetown is set to unleash a tidal wave of high-performance rock that has been missing since the ‘90s. The album’s unapologetic rock n’ roll takes shifts through a variety of styles effortlessly, invoking comparisons to group like Guns N’ Roses and Alice In Chains, yet appealing to fans of rock legend Ted Nugent.
The band has also announced they will be giving away merchandise, guitar gear and promotional items for fans that join the Joetown street-team at www.JoetownRocks.com. Fans are encouraged to join the street-team to qualify.
TOM MORELLO: THE NIGHTWATCHMAN RELEASES ANTICIPATED SOLO ALBUM, THE FABLED CITY; NATIONAL TOUR TO FEATURE BOTH ACOUSTIC AND FULL-BAND ELECTRIC SETS
APPEARANCE SET FOR THE NEW YORKER FESTIVAL IN NYC OCTOBER 4th
“The Rage Against The Machine guitarist’s remarkable transformation from purveyor of weapons-grade funk-metal riffs into introspective protest folkie yields even more impressive fruit on his second solo effort. A-” Entertainment Weekly
Tom Morello of Rage Against the Machine is set to release his anticipated solo album, The Fabled City, on September 30th. The 11-song album, produced by Brendan O’Brien (Bruce Springsteen, Pearl Jam), is the first release to bear the political and social activist’s birth name and features appearances by System of a Down’s Serj Tankian and Shooter Jennings. With more complex electric arrangements than displayed on the sparse solo debut One Man Revolution,The Fabled City is the synthesis of his groundbreaking work as an innovative rock guitarist and revolutionary acoustic troubadour. For the first time, this album bridges the gap between Tom Morello, the acoustic protest singer and Tom Morello, the guitar legend.
The tour in support of The Fabled City will display both sides of Morello’s guitar prowess with both an acoustic set and full-band electric set performed each night. In regards to the format of the performances, Morello stated “On The Fabled City Tour, I will be playing both acoustic and electric guitar. I want to start off with the darker acoustic songs and then build to some of the wildest electric guitar playing I have ever unleashed on stage in my career. The idea is half Dylan/Half Hendrix. I have been practicing my ass off and can’t wait to rock.”
In addition to the tour, Tom Morello has been confirmed to appear at the annual New Yorker Festival in New York City on Saturday, October 4th. Morello will be performing songs and talking with James Surowiecki, staff writer at The New Yorker since 2000. Blue collar. Black leather. Hard times. Three phrases that California-based Rhino Bucket use to describe their sound. Countless others have compared Rhino Bucket to AC/DC. Rhino Bucket will bring their down and dirty sound to Algona, Iowa for the inaugural Rock Gone Wild festival. The festival is slated for August 20-23, 2009. Rock Gone Wild will feature more than 50 bands on two stages over four days of hard rock and heavy metal.
Formed in 1988, Rhino Bucket took a slightly different turn from the Sunset Strip Glam craze. Instead of sleazing it up, Rhino Bucket went a little harder, a little grittier, a little more down home rock n’ roll.
Like many 80s bands, Rhino Bucket had their share of ups and downs, breakups and member changes. After a lengthy hiatus, the band reformed in 2001 eventually recording And Then It Got Ugly in 2006. Rhino Bucket have six albums in their discography – and are working on lucky number seven. The band plans to release a new disc in 2009. Rhino Bucket is Georg Dolivo (vocals, guitar), Brian Forsythe (guitar), Reeve Downes (bass) and Simon Wright (drums).
Rock Gone Wild’s exclusive ticket presale has ended. Tickets will be available to the general public in the coming weeks. To receive updates, please join www.fevertalk.net. Additionally, Rock Gone Wild fans can receive unprecedented “behind-the-scenes” updates by reading Anatomy of a Festival at www.anatomyofafestival.wordpress.com. This blog promises to chronicle the ups – and downs – of planning a major music event.
Rhino Bucket join Helix, Junkyard, Dangerous Toys and Saigon Kick to the ever-growing Rock Gone Wild roster.
Festival artists will chat online exclusively with ticket-holders. This exciting interactive experience kicks off in the coming weeks and will continue until August 2009. Brian Vollmer of Helix will participate in the first chat. Brian has performed with Helix for over 30 years and teaches vocal lessons to a wide array of students. Thanks to his musicianship, Helix has sold millions of albums worldwide. Only those fans with tickets will be able to chat with Brian. Ticketholders will receive an email with instructions on how to access the private chat. Visit www.rockgonewild.com for complete festival information.
Rock Gone Wild will take place at the Freedom Park festival grounds, located at 2507- 160th Avenue in Algona, Iowa. While Algona is a rural community, the area is close to many hotels and both the Des Moines and Minneapolis airports are easily accessible.
Rock fans from more than 30 states and five countries have already purchased tickets. Will you be wild in August 2009?
Rock now. Rock on. Rock wild.
New York sleaze merchants, The Erotics have returned with a new eight song EP, titled Rubbish. Their 2007 disc, 30 Seconds Over You, was one of my favorite new compact discs last year, so I couldn’t wait to get my hands on a copy of Rubbish.
Once again, Mike Trash and company delivers the goods! Singer Mike Trash has an Alice Cooper-like growl that is well tailored for The Erotics’ style of punk meets sleaze, rock and roll.
“Dead Last in The Rat Race” is an infectious tune that will immediately get you rocking. Some of the guitar riffs on this song, reminds me of Metallica’s cover of Queen’s Stone Cold Crazy.
The Erotics change up their sound a little bit with the addition of some cow bells, and use of the voice box in the tune “Push Comes To Death“. This is one of my favorites on Rubbish.
“Get Away From Me” has some really cool slide guitar by Rachel Toxic. The Yankees in the Erotics somehow pull off a catchy tune that sounds like it ought to be on a southern rock album.
Rubbish closes out with a really cool cover of the classic AC/DC tune, “Walk All Over You“. I never expected to hear The Erotics cover AC/DC, but they do a really good job on this tune.
The Erotics sound like they had a good time when they recorded these tunes, and the end result are eight very cool and very fun songs to listen to. Someone needs to get smart and put the Erotics on the Cruefest bill, and take this bands’ career to the next level. The Erotics have the talent, the look and the sound to make it on the big stage. Rubbish ought to open up some new doors for the Erotics. If you are a fan of sleazy good rock and roll, you need to pick this up.
01. Dead Last In The Rat Race
02. Terrorize You
03. Push Comes To Death
04. Get Away From Me (Mother F*cker)
05. Nobody Wants You Around
06. Born To Let You Down
08. Walk All Over You
The Erotics are:
Mike Trash – lead vocals and rhythm, lead guitar
Rachel Toxic – lead, rhythm, slide guitar and talk box
Billy Beer – bass
Johnny Riott – drums and percussion
This is the first time I have seen the video for Tesla’s song “Try So Hard”. This is off of their 1994 CD, Bust A Nut. Enjoy the video below!
Z are extremely proud to announce the signing of the Argentinean act WATCHMEN. Label boss Mark Alger had been chasing the band down for nearly a year with no luck, that was until he mentioned the band to Snow’s manager Ricardo Pugailli during a routine business call. Ricardo helped bridge the language barrier and started off communication between the band and Z which resulted in the deal being finally inked on September 27th.
Hailing from Buenos Aires WATCHMEN are ready to set Europe alight, featuring the amazing vocal performances of Ivan Sencion [who could take David Coverdales place in Whitesnake anyday], the amazing guitar work of Emmanuel Lopez plus the talents of Germain Leth, Leonardo Palmieri and Dukke. The bands 10 track debut will be released in Europe on October 27th.
Check out the Watchmen on Myspace at this link.
Multi-platinum rockers TESLA, Jeff Keith (vocals), Frank Hannon (guitars), Brian Wheat (bass), Troy Luccketta (drums) and Dave Rude (guitar) begin their “Forever More” tour this coming Wednesday, October 1at The Depot in Salt Lake City.
Tour is named for their seventh studio album, Forever More, set for release October 7 on Tesla Electric Company Recordings (in partnership with Ryko Distribution).
“I Wanna Live,” the new album’s first single, is accompanied by a video featured on the band’s site, aptly named, teslatheband.com where new updates are posted daily.
Tesla reunited with producer Terry Thomas and engineer Michael Rosen for Forever More. Thomas was behind the boards for the band’s 1994 Gold-certified Bust A Nut album, while Rosen worked with Tesla on Into The Now.
The band spent close to a year on a worldwide tour, between mid ’07 and ’08. During that time, the band recorded their Comin’ Atcha Live! DVD, was released July 15. It’s the band’s first DVD in 17 years (since 1991’s “Five Man Video Band”) and filled with over two hours of live music as well as special behind-the-scenes footage.
“After returning from Europe,” says guitarist Frank Hannon, “we jumped right back into the studio to work on Forever More with Terry while setting up a tour of American festival shows in July and August, playing alongside bands such as Matchbox Twenty, the Wallflowers, Queensrÿche, KISS and Judas Priest. It’s great that we can play with any band, of any music genre, because we’ve never been pigeon-holed into a style or label of music throughout our career.”
Hannon continues, “All the tracks on Forever More offer a variety of emotions where each song has its own twist, not sounding like another. Forever More was written and recorded during a period of high energy and bizarre life circumstances for each of Tesla’s band members, with those experiences coming full circle throughout the CD.”

Superdeluxe is the follow up effort to Dirty Looks 2007 CD, Gasoline. This disc features Henrik Ostergaard along with returning members Paul Lidel on guitar, and Jack Pyers on bass.
Henrik Ostergaard’s voice hasn’t changed one bit since the classic Dirty Looks CD, Cool From the Wire. I have always liked his razor sharp vocals, and he is definitely in fine form here. Paul Lidel is obviously influenced by Angus Young. His guitar work here is superb, and seems to be the perfect compliment to Ostergaard’s vocals.
The production issues that were present on Gasoline are all gone on Superdeluxe. This is a great sounding CD all the way through.
Some of the stand out tunes on this disc are ‘A Million MIles”, “Fast Ride”, and “Not Enough”. I must admit that I don’t think Superdeluxe is as strong as Cool From the Wire. This is however a very solid disc that seems to get better with multiple listens. If you are a fan of any of Dirty Looks’ previous releases, you ought to pick this disc up.
Superdeluxe, with the new updated album cover is available now through CDBaby.com. For more information on Dirty Looks, check out their website here.

TODAY ONLY, Nickelback is giving away a free download of their new song, “Gotta Be Somebody” For Free for the next 24 hours!
Gemini FIve has posted the following bulletin on their myspace page:
Lead guitarist Dee Dee has very rapidly decided to leave the band due to ilness and private/personal reasons. His decision is understandable and accepted by the other bandmembers.
- This is however something we could not predict and therefore some “last-minute-actions” need to be considered.
The show tonight Sept 27th
in Sundsvall [SWE] is forced to be postponed ’til later and the in-store acoustic appearance at Heron City in Stockholm is unfortunally cancelled!!! We are sincerely sorry for all the inconvenience this might have regarding not being able to perform as agreed to.
We’ll try our best to make it up to you in the future.
The Stockholm show at Tantogården on Wednesday October 1 is still on, thanks to Martin Sweet of CrashDïet, whom is filling in temporarily on lead guitar.
Stay tuned for more news and updates regarding the situation.
Cold Blooded Demon blasts out of its heavy metal cannon with the cool anthem “Head My Way“. This heavy rocker was a pretty good way to start off this disc. This tune immediately grabbed my attention, and left me wanting more.
“She’s My Drug” (see the video below) keeps the pace going well. This song has a cool sleazy bass line that really drives this tune.
The bass line on “Lie To Love Me” reminds me of Alice in Chains somewhat. This anthem seems to get better with every listen.
I love the Metallica influence that creeps its way into the song, “Finally“. On the title track “Cold Blooded Demon” I felt that the mixing on this song was a little off. The song is pretty good, but the bass and drums are mixed a little too loud, and it overpowers the vocals of Nathan Yetter. The guitar solos on this song rip!
“Such A Disease” is another cool track that sounds like it could have been a left over tune by Alice in Chains.
Cold Blooded Demon shows a ton of potential for Revmatic. Revmatic does a good job at blending 80′s metal and some 90′s grunge on this CD. Cold Blooded Demon is another nice surprise in 2008.
If a record label gives these guys a break, they could be the next big act to hit the scene. You can preview clips and order your own copy of Cold Blooded Demon at CDBaby.com. For more information on Revmatic, check them out on myspace.

As reported by BIllboard.com, Best Buy is set to be the exclusive retailer for Guns N’ Roses decade-plus-in-the-making new album “Chinese Democracy” before year’s end, sources close to the situation tell Billboard. Some details of the deal are still being worked out, including the release date.
The news brings a semblance of closure to the bizarre history of “Democracy,” which Guns N’ Roses has been working on since the mid-1990s. Since then, every original member of the once mighty group has left besides vocalist Axl Rose, and millions of dollars have been spent working on the new material.
“Democracy” was most recently on the Interscope release schedule in March 2007. The endless delays encountered by the project reached comic levels this spring, when soft drink manufacturer Dr Pepper offered to send a free can of the beverage to “everyone in America” (excluding ex-GNR members Slash and Buckethead) if “Chinese Democracy” were to arrive anytime during the calendar year 2008.
In June, nine purported “mastered, finished” tracks from the album were leaked online, prompting an FBI investigation into their source. A sign “Chinese Democracy” was perhaps finally nearing release came in July, when the band agreed to debut new track “Shackler’s Revenge” in the video game “Rock Band 2,” which hit stores earlier this month.
Guns N’ Roses is now managed by Irving Azoff’s Front Line Management, and Azoff is a well-known proponent of issuing albums exclusively through retailers. He released the Eagles’ “Long Road Out of Eden” through Wal-Mart in 2007, much to the chagrin of other merchants, but the album was a runaway hit, having sold 3.1 million copies in the United States, according to Nielsen SoundScan.

“Monster Philosophy” will be the title of the 10th studio album from one of Denmarks most popular and persistent rock bands. The songs were written in the past two years and producer on the album is Joshua, who has worked with Kent, Carpark North and many other bands. The basic tracks were recorded in Long Branch, New Jersey in April and the work has continued in the Mansion Studiet in Copenhagen.
Right now D-A-D is headlining the Grøn Koncert and the band reveals that a few of the new songs are on the setlist. If the green caravan doesn’t stop in your city you can listen to a pre-mix of the new and almost finished song “Revolution” on MySpace.
Release date for “Monster Philosophy” is November 10th.
Let’s Rumble is the their effort by L.A. Rockers Love/Hate. The band was dropped by Columbia, and this album was financed by Love/Hate’s bass player Skid, who sold his corvette for 20K, in order to put this album out.
This CD features the guitar playing of Darren Householder who joined Love/Hate after the bands’ original guitarist Jon E. Love quit the group.
I like Love/Hate’s debut album, Black Out in the Red Room, and sophomore effort Wasted America a lot, so I was really hoping for more of the same with Let’s Rumble.
After spinning this a few times, I can’t help but to thing something is missing from their initial releases. Love/Hate was able to write and record a bunch of sleazy good tunes on their first couple of albums, but Let’s Rumble is missing the groove that made their initial recordings so good. Jon E. Love played great on those discs, and his absence can be felt on this disc.
Love/Hate did have a minor hit on this disc with the tune “Spinning Wheel”, and I like that tune well enough. “If You Believe In Miracles” has a much more stripped back sound than the other tunes on this disc, and is definitely one of the highlights here. The other songs on this disc just don’t get much of a reaction from me. It is like the guitar work is better than the songs, or the songs don’t mesh with the guitar playing. Either way, it all sounds very average to me. I bet Skid wishes he could get his Corvette back after recording this. Love/Hate has done much better than this.
Let’s Rumble has been out of print for quite a while, but you can find copies of this disc through Amazon.com and Ebay. This is a disc for Love/Hate die hard fans only. If you prefer digital downloads, Love/Hate has made this album available for download on their website for free at this link.

Filmed in 2007 at a concert in Spokane, WA, the set features fan-favorites like “The Enemy,” “Bled for Days,” and the radio smash, “Push It.” Produced by frontman Wayne Static, the package also includes an additional audio CD which features the show in its entirety.
If that wasn’t already enough, the DVD also includes all of the band’s official music videos.
Cannibal Killers Live is out October 14th on Reprise Records.
