Back in the early 90’s, there were so many hair metal bands that released music, there were a few that never made a whole lot of impact. One such band is Canada’s Dirty Rhythm.

This is band is often referred to online as a Skid Row clone.  I greatly disagree with that statement. Singer Jeffrey Michael Bonds is no Sebastian Bach.  There are some guitar parts that might be a little Skid Row like, but as a whole, I don’t think they sound even close to the same. If fact, Dirty Rhythm sounds a lot more like another early 90’s band, Cry Wolf.  With that being said, “Hard as a Rock” is still a very solid hard rock disc.

“Hard As A Rock” was produced by Loverboy’s Paul Dean. As a result the production quality is top notch, and the songs shine as a result.  The music styling is typical pop metal.  This is the sound that was quite common for hard rock acts in the early 90’s.  Some of my favorite tracks are “Feel the Fire“, the awesome power ballad “I Can’t Wait“, the Warrant like “Hard As A Rock“, “Backside of Love” and “Bad Girls“.

This CD is very out of print.  I finally scored a copy of the CD, after months of unsuccessful bidding on EBay.  If you are a hair metal fan, it is worth checking out (if you can find it).
