Whoever said first impressions make lasting impressions couldn’t have been more wrong when it comes to my opinion of Lordi. When I first saw the video for “Hard Rock Hallelujah” I changed the channel without ever listening to the song brushing this Finnish band off as a Gwar wannabe and since I am not a Gwar fan I didn’t give the band a second thought. It wasn’t until a few weeks later that I heard “Hard Rock Hallelujah” and realized Lordi had a lot more to offer.
Now just in time for Halloween Lordi gives the world their latest offering “Deadache”. For fans of Lordi you will be pleased to know the band has not changed their sound at all since their last album “the Arockalypse”, if you haven’t heard Lordi before get ready for some of the best monster rock this side of Alice Cooper.
After a short opening track titled “SCG IV” everything gets kicked off with “Girls Go Chopping” , which has a great groove, some cool keyboard from Awa and a pretty cool solo from guitarist Amen. The first single “Bite It Like A Bulldog” is up next and it pretty much follows the same recipe with great hooks, a sing along chorus that will have you tapping your feet along with the song.
“My Monsters Keep Me Company” is the fourth track on the album, it is a slower and heavier song with some haunting keyboards. Mr. Lordi sings in a hushed tone until it comes to the chorus when his familiar growl comes back. I can definitely see this song being released as a single and opening a few more eyes to Lordi.
“Man Skin Boots” gets my vote for the best song on “Deadache”. It has hooks galore, great gang vocals, and a pretty cool solo from Amen. It has a Rob Zombie feel to it but the one thing I think separates Lordi from Rob Zombie is Zombie uses a lot more machines where Lordi sticks to letting their instruments do the talking.
“The Ghosts Of Heceta Head” and “Evilyn” are two more cool songs. Heceta probably has the best keyboards of any of the songs on the album and Evilyn has the best solo on the album. Just like the title suggest “Raise Hell In Heaven” is a burner from start to finish and can get you motivated to do just about anything.
The rhythm section of bassist OX and drummer Kita don’t get a lot of chances to shine on this album but their playing is solid and steady throughout the album.
The only real dissappointment on “Deadache” is “Beast Loose In Paradise” from Lordi’s movie “Dark Floors”(which I highly recommend you watch) is not included. Other than that “Deadache” is a solid album from start to finish loaded with some great songs and a great follow-up to “the Arockalypse”.

In a blog posted on Blind Melon’s myspace page titled Heartbreak Hotel: Room 667 the band announced they had parted ways with vocalist Travis Warren. According to the band, they had to cancel two weeks worth of dates because Warren was having throat problems but instead of following his doctor’s advice and resting his throat Warren continued chain smoking, here is a quote from the band “God dropped a Stradivarius down Travis’s throat, but the reality is that he treats it like a broken pawnshop fiddle. It is very difficult to maintain a rigorous touring schedule while chain smoking. “
The band tried to set Warren up with a specialist to make sure everything was OK with his throat before starting the tour back up. Warren apparently blew off his scheduled appointment, then stopped communicating with the band altogether. Finally after two weeks of trying to make contact with him, Warren contacted the band’s manager and according to the band Warren said the following during a 20 minute conversation “Travis stated that if we couldn’t understand that he needed this time to himself, then he didn’t want to be in a band with us anymore. He complained about being underpaid and overworked (we all make the same thing and we all work as hard as he does). He said that he didn’t want to play the US anymore and that he was under-appreciated. He complained about playing the same songs in the same towns.”
Blind Melon tried to keep their tour on schedule by getting Chris Shinn, lead singer for Unified Theory, to fill in for Warren, but it proved to be an impossible task for Shinn to learn the band’s song in a mere two days. According to the band “We are canceling the tour outright and will now start to shovel our way out of this enormous mess. We will have more news about what our plans are concerning the future this week. We’re sorry for the confusion, the bad vibes, the drama and the letdowns. We understand the disappointment and anger that you feel towards us. We are angry and disappointed too. We aim to make it up to you soon…..We’re going on a journey and we’ll bring you back something great…….”
As always there are two sides to every story and this is the band’s version. There is no word as yet if Travis Warren will be making a statement sharing his side of the story. You can read the entire blog by checking out Blind Melon’s myspace page.
In front of a capacity crowd at the world-famous Whisky A-Go-Go, complete with music industry tastemakers, Guitar Center and MÖTLEY CRÜE selected THE LAST VEGAS from Chicago, Illinois as the winner of Guitar Center On-Stage last night.
Over the past eight weeks, bands across the United States submitted their music at makerockhistory.com. From close to 8,000 submissions, 30 semi-finalists were selected, which were then narrowed down to the six top undiscovered bands in the country, with THE LAST VEGAS prevailing as the one band chosen for the ultimate, career altering opportunity — the chance to open on tour for rock icons MÖTLEY CRÜE.
In addition to the slot on MÖTLEY CRÜE‘s 2009 “Saints Of Los Angeles” U.S. tour (dates to be announced on Friday, November 14), THE LAST VEGAS also takes home $25,000 cash, $20,000 in exclusive new gear from Gibson Guitars, management from Tenth Street Entertainment, and a recording deal from Eleven Seven Music. In true CRÜE fashion, THE LAST VEGAS also found out that their career is literally going from “0” to “60” overnight and will be opening for the notorious rockers at the Hollywood Palladium in Los Angeles this Friday, November 14. The band will record its first single immediately. It will be available as a stream on AOL on November 24 and as a download on iTunes by November 25.
Guitar Center On-Stage is a revolutionary platform for organically scouting and launching upcoming, unsigned artists in the music industry. The six final bands each performed three songs live for their potential tour mates and mentors, MÖTLEY CRÜE. However, it was THE LAST VEGAS that truly stole the night.
“The overall talent and energy of THE LAST VEGAS surpassed our expectations,” said MÖTLEY CRÜE‘s Vince Neil. “MÖTLEY CRÜE is excited to pass the torch on to these amazing musicians, just as Ozzy did for us over 25 years ago.”
Norman Hajjar, EVP and Chief Marketing Officer for Guitar Center noted, “We are thrilled with the outcome of the debut of the Guitar Center On-Stage initiative. The proof is in the amount of fans and bands that showed their support on the makerockhistory.com site — with over 500,000 unique visitors per month. Not only was this our most ambitious program to date, but also so fulfilling to provide a platform that discovers up and coming bands from across the nation, and now for THE LAST VEGAS. On-Stage marks a major milestone in Guitar Center‘s history for supporting aspiring artists.”
“From the label and management perspective,” said Allen Kovac, CEO and Founder of Tenth Street Entertainment and Eleven Seven Music, “We are looking forward to supporting THE LAST VEGAS, and taking the next steps to further launch their career and support them with innovative marketing, radio promotion, public relations and of course preparing them for the tour of their lives — with MÖTLEY CRÜE!”
Chad Cherry, lead singer of THE LAST VEGAS, said, “Guitar Center On-Stage has been an amazing journey so far and we are just getting started. It is hard to grasp right now, but we know our lives are going to completely change. Now we are ready to put on a killer live show and are ready to rock at the Hollywood Palladium.”

Last night, Eddie Trunk announced that XM41 The Boneyard is going to be removed off of the XM Radio Dial. Last night was the last show of Eddie Trunk Live of 2008. Sometime before the end of the week, The Boneyard will disappear off of XM41 forever.
Before you start screaming………………this is a temporary move as Sirius XM are juggling stations. Starting January 15th, The Boneyard will return to the XM dial, on channel 53, the station that currently holds the 24 Hour AC/DC channel. For you Sirius listeners, you will also get The Boneyard on channel 19.
While I hate to see my favorite station disappearing off of the dial, and as much as I think this is a boneheaded move by XM, I am glad to see that the station will return bigger and stronger, broadcasting over both satellite networks. Eddie Trunk Live is scheduled to return on January 19th.

In the beginning, there were five guys that set out to make a name in the music world. It didn’t take long for said boys to become men among an already crowded 80s Metal scene. Former Darkness bass player Richie Edwards took over the lead vocals and Toby MacFarlaine joined the band on bass. The Darkness name was jettisoned, and band carried on under the new name, Stone Gods.
The Darkness got a fair amount of airplay on XM Radio’s The Boneyard over the last couple of years, but they were never a band that I could get into very much. Justin Hawkins vocals were a little over the top, in my opinion. I wasn’t sure what to expect with The Stone Gods, and much to my surprise, I found this new band much more to my liking.
“Silver Spoons & Broken Bones” starts off with a heavy metal rocker, “Burn the Witch.” This song sounds like it is left over from the NWOBHM era.
“Don’t Drink the Water” fuses together a catchy mesh of classic hard rock sounds and that brings bands like The Who to mind. The song fuses together classic rock guitar riffs with a punk rock vibe, and even sprinkles in a dash of reggae. It sounds like a band combination, but this is a really good song.
There are some Black Sabbath like jams on the rocking tune “Defend or Die“. Richie Edwards vocals keep this song from sounding to sludgy, but the metal riffs are well appreciated by this listener. This is one of those songs that you may not get into on the first listen. My recommendation is to play it again a few times. You may grow to appreciate this one as I have.
The Stone Gods show their sense of humor with the tune “You Brought A Knife To A Gun Fight“. This is another catchy upbeat rocker that would not sound out of place on the radio today. The guitar riffs could have been taken right off of any Buckcherry CD, but that is OK. I like this style of rock.
“Magdalen Street” is a mid tempo number that has a mix of southern rock styling and some guitar sounds that would more at home on a Chris Isaak album. It is a good song, but the sound here is completely different from the rest of tunes on this disc up to this point.
“Where You Coming From” is a modern rock tune with a southern rock flair. This is another song that grows on you.
Is is just me, or does “Lazy Bones” sound like a lost Soul Asylum track? I haven’t listened to Soul Asylum for a long time, but this song reminded me of them quite a bit.
“I’m With the Band” and “Wasting Time” both have infectious sing along choruses that will get in your head.
The album closes out with a tongue in cheek rocker “Oh Where ‘O My Beero“. This song sounds like a lost cut from Def Leppard.
It took me several listens to figure out who I thought Richie Edwards sounded like, and I finally figured it out. Remember Tommy Paris from Britny Fox? Edwards has that same raspy vocal style as Paris. The style of music may be different, but the similarities are there.
“Silver Spoons & Broken Bones” mixes together a variety of genres including hard rock, classic rock, heavy metal and alternative. For me, the harder tunes are definitely the best ones on this disc, but less heavy tracks are solid as well. From the songs I have heard from the Darkness, this album does have a different style, and the name change to Stone Gods is quite appropriate. This album joins a crowded list of solid albums in 2008.

MULTI talented vocalist/guitarist DANNY VAUGHN is having a very busy few months at the moment. Not only has he recently headlined Firefest V fronting Tyketto but he is also currently out on the road with the Illegal Eagles throughout October & November performing over twenty shows with one of UK’s top tribute bands. Mind you if all of that wasn’t enough Vaughn will round out 2008 with a pair of solo acoustic show in December at The Cluny in Newcastle & Dudley JB’s.
As Vaughn himself says “I’ve always loved playing these acoustic shows, the audience really appreciate what we do but this time around I wanted to do things just a touch differently for them, turning the show into a kind of story teller’s night. Instead of it being just myself I’ll be bringing along a four piece band and of course the set list will include several of the Tyketto and Vaughn regulars but the plan is also to present a decent amount of the songs that don’t often get played live. It’s basically going to be a gathering of friends at Christmas with the added benefit of some great music.
In addition to the show itself it is also planned to record the gigs for a live release early in 2009.The plan will be to issue two versions of the album, a very special limited edition version that will only be available to those who actually attend the gig which will feature a different track listing to the second version which will go on general sale.
Danny Vaughn – Live & Acoustic @ Christmas
Friday December 12th – Dudley JB’s
Saturday December 13th – Newcastle The Cluny
You could call Linkin Park a lot of things, but you could never accuse them of being lazy.
Frontman Chester Bennington’s back injury forced them to sit out their October tour through China, but it looks like the band is not slowing down anytime soon. It’s been just a few short months since the conclusion of this summer’s Projekt Revolution tour — featuring Busta Rhymes, Chris Cornell and the Bravery, among others — and already, Linkin Park’s members are planning their return to the studio. Even as their latest release, 2007’s Minutes to Midnight, inches toward the 2.6 million-sold mark, the band has been writing new material for months, Bennington said. Just don’t ask him what that material sounds like.
“Asking someone to describe what something sounds like is like telling a blind person to guess what I look like,” Bennington told MTV News over the weekend. “It’s almost impossible. I can tell you that it’s our first stab — and perhaps our only stab, depending on how good we do — at creating a concept record, so there are a lot of things that are going to either free us up in a lot of ways or restrict us in a lot of ways. In terms of describing what it sounds like … it sounds like peanut butter and jelly. It’s sounding delicious.”
According to Bennington, it was a friend’s idea to write a concept piece. Though he wouldn’t discuss the concept in detail, he said he was looking forward to the challenge.
“For me, you say the words ‘concept record,’ and the first thing I think of is theater or the opera or something,” he said. “There’s a story, and everything has to relate to that story. It sounds a little daunting to me, so, I think my confidence level will drop, but when it was presented to us by this friend of ours, we liked the idea. It was an inspiring idea, and it was something we could relate a lot of the things we like to write about to. It couldn’t have come strictly from us — an outside source brought it to us in a way that was exciting.”
Linkin Park plan to enter a recording studio before December to track the as-yet-untitled effort, at about the same time the band’s Road to Revolution: Live at Milton Keynes live CD/DVD is set hits stores on November 25. Bennington estimates that it will take six weeks to record the new album. He said the band would be open to working with Rick Rubin (who produced Minutes to Midnight) again on the project. They just haven’t yet decided in whose hands they’d like to put their first conceptual album.
Bennington has been working with producer Howard Benson (My Chemical Romance, Daughtry) on the debut disc of his side project Dead by Sunrise. He said he wrote all of the material for the band’s inaugural offering with a very specific mission in mind.
“I wanted to make sure the record was different from the Linkin Park record,” he said. “It’s not as hard as it sounds. If you take Mike [Shinoda] out of the equation — because I personally feel he’s created our signature sound — it automatically sounds different. It’s more of a standard rock record. There are elements to it where you can tell where the inspiration comes from, but it’s pure rock with melody.”
Dead by Sunrise — also featuring Orgy’s Amir Derakh and Ryan Shuck — have been working on the LP over the last couple of years and should be finished tracking the disc sometime in early 2009, with plans to release the set in spring.
“I would say that, in terms of working with the band, it all works very similar to the way Linkin Park works,” he said. “I’ve written all of the songs personally, on an acoustic guitar, and we take it from its acoustic guitar level and build it. Whether it’s a heavy rock track or a ballad, or taking all the rock elements out and creating primarily an electronic-driven track, we do it together.”
A few days prior to the release of their latest album “Black Butterfly” I had an opportunity to talk to Buckcherry guitarist and co-founder Keith Nelson. Now almost two months since the release of the album I had the opportunity to talk to front-man Josh Todd not only about the new album and tour but also about his acting career and his opinion about President elect Barack Obama. I went into this interview with an idea Josh was a wild and crazy front-man but when the interview was over I was left with a completely different impression, in a good way.
HRH: Josh, thank you for taking the time to talk to us today.
Josh Todd: Sure, no problem
HRH: You guys are currently on the road with Avenged Sevenfold, Shinedown, and Saving Abel, how is the tour going so far?
Josh Todd: It was going great until we ran into a blizzard and couldn’t make it to our show tonight.
HRH: You played Billings, MT last night and were supposed to play Fargo tonight?
Josh Todd: Yeah last night was awesome.
HRH: Buckcherry.com has this line up of bands together till December. Who are some of the bands you are looking at taking out on the next leg?
Josh Todd: We are trying to figure that out right now as far as what we are going to do after the new year. But when we find out we’ll let everybody know.
HRH: What are the plans going into the new year for the band?
Josh Todd: Well we have this new album “Black Butterfly” and it has a lot of great songs so we are going to be putting in alot of time and effort to make sure everyone gets to hear the depth of this record like we did with “15” we toured two years and over 300 shows and we have already done 65 shows and the album hasn’t been out for two months yet. So we are just going to be touring and getting these songs out on the radio so everyone will know what’s going on here.
HRH: How many songs off of “Black Butterfly” are you able to include in the set?
Josh Todd: Let’s see, we play Rescue Me, Don’t Go Away, Too Drunk, and Cream so about four.
HRH: You have been covering “the Stroke” by Billy Squier live. Is that something we may see you guys releasing for maybe a soundtrack or a b-side?
Josh Todd: We don’t play the whole song, we do it as part of a medley with “Crazy Bitch” and the fans seem to like it.
HRH: Do you get to play any of the songs off of “You Made Me”?
Josh Todd: No
HRH: Are there any plans for another solo album?
Josh Todd: Not at the moment.
HRH: After 4 albums “Black Butterfly” is the first one to hit the Top 10. How big is that for the band?
Josh Todd: It is huge for us you know. We have been after this for a long time and that is something you dream about hitting milestones like that. We always want to elevate our game from record to record and that is what we try to do.
HRH: Buckcherry is on the third single and video with “Rescue Me” Are there plans to release more singles or videos from the album?
Josh Todd: Yeah everybody really loves “Rose” but right now we are focused on what we got going on with “Rescue Me” and “Don’t Go Away”. We’ll probably do something with “Rose” sometime after the new year.
HRH: When you release a new album is there a set number of singles that you plan on releasing or is it more of a wait and see approach?
Josh Todd: Sometimes we are clear on it, sometimes the singles change over the course of the album’s cycle. Songs we thought were going to be the one change because more people are hearing the music and we find out what everybody is really gravitating towards.
HRH: How much say does the band have in what songs are released as singles?
Josh Todd: Oh we have final say.
HRH: What other songs do you think might have been overlooked or didn’t get as much attention as they deserve?
Josh Todd: I personally like “All of Me” I think it is a masterpiece. Hopefully that will be a song, I mean there are already a lot of people that love that song but I think it is different for everybody.
HRH: I talked to Keith a few days before “Black Butterfly” release and he mentioned “Imminent Bailout” and “Cream” as two songs that were special on the album. What was the inspiration behind the lyrics of “Cream”?
Josh Todd: Cream is just about my love for music and being a music man and all the sacrifices you have to make to do this for a living. It’s my deepest love that is what it’s about.
HRH: You and Keith started Buckcherry because of a mutual love of AC/DC. Have you had a chance to hear “Black Ice”?
Josh Todd: I did I have the record, but I thought Stiff Upper Lip was a better record. But there are a couple of songs I really like, I like the first single “Rock-n-Roll Train” and there is another song called “Anything Goes” where Brian is singing with a lot more meoldy and I thought that was cool. As a whole I didn’t think the record was a great record but it is a good rock-n-roll record.
HRH: You are 37 now, can you see Buckcherry still together and performing when you are in your late 50’s early 60’s?
Josh Todd: No I don’t know why anyone would want to see that.
HRH: You were in a band called Slamhound prior to Buckcherry and I found a demo a few years ago at a record store in San Francisco. Will there ever be an “official” release of Slamhound’s music?
Josh Todd: No probably not that band hasn’t been together for years. I really enjoyed that band when I was in it but I doubt I’ll be putting anything out.
HRH: I want to change gears here a little bit if you don’t mind. Are you a political person?
Josh Todd: Nope
HRH: Do you have an opinion about President elect Barack Obama?
Josh Todd: I really like his energy plan that is something I really like but i’m not too excited about the taxes. But as far as what this guy is made of I just don’t think we know yet you know. As a whole as far as both candidates were concerned I just wish we had more choices, because I think a lot of people were on the fence with both parties. I think it is really to soon to see what is going to happen with Obama I mean we’ll see. He has to back all of his words I mean he’s got a very difficult job. I definitely wouldn’t want to be handling it. I congratulate him for his courage to take on this incredible task and hopefully he will do it with grace and really bring something to the office.
HRH: You recently had a part in the movie Eagle Eye and you have had parts in the New Guy and Salton Sea along with a couple of t.v. shows. Do you see acting as something you would like to get more serious about as far as pursuing some bigger roles or is it more of something to do when you have down time from Buckcherry?
Josh Todd: I would love to get a bigger role because I love challenges but we are never home. We tour so much that it is really hard for me to get gigs. When I’m home I get to do stuff here and there but I would love to be challenged with acting bigger than what I’ve done.
HRH: What was it like working with Val Kilmer on Salton Sea?
Josh Todd: Wow Val is like, he is an incredible guy to watch, he is a great great actor and he really taught me a lot. He was very nice to me at that point in time, he understood my situation that it was the first movie I had ever done. He was very instrumental and kind of pushing me along and I am very grateful to him for that. I just thought he was a joy to work with.
HRH: Is there anything else you would like to tell our readers before I let you go?
Josh Todd: I would just encourage them to go out and pick up a copy of “Black Butterfly” if they haven’t already and to check out Buckcherry.com to see where we are at and come out to the show and have a blast.
I don’t know what is happening in Sweden, but good music must be busting out the country’s seams. It seems like every time I turn around I stumble on another really good band from Sweden. Danger is another band that caught my attention with their new six song EP “First Touch”.
So what does Danger sound like? To me their sound is a cross between Crash Diet and older Motley Crue. The first song on the EP “First Touch” sounds like it could have been on the excellent “Rest In Sleaze” from Crash Diet. This is the first song that I have heard from Danger, and it made me a fan instantly.
“Miss Money” and “California Red” are pretty fun rockers that remind me more of Poison songs, than a Motley Crue ones but I like them nonetheless.
There are days where I would like to crank “Shove It” at maximum value over the speakers in my office. This should be my new theme song. My wife likes this one too. :)
“On The Run” is a upbeat hair metal anthem, that is as solid of a closing tune as I have heard all year long.
The six songs on First Touch is like getting an awesome appetizer and having the kitchen close before you could order your main course. It will whet your appetite and leave you hungry to hear more. This is Swedish sleaze metal at its finest. Hair metal fans should not hesitate to buy this!
1. First Touch
2. Miss Money
3. Hey You
4. California Red
5. Shove It
6. On The Run (Bonus Track)

Fresh on the heels of Julie Walter’s accepting the offer of a star (date to be confirmed), the Broad Street Business Improvement District is delighted to announce that Heaven and Hell guitarist, founding member of Black Sabbath, Grammy Award winner and king of heavy metal Tony Iommi will be honoured on the Broad Street Walk of Star’s on Sunday 23rd November 2008.
Following an afternoon of live music from local bands on the stage in Centenary Square ‘Kerrang Radio’ presenter Johnny Doom will host the evening, with the presentation of the star taking place at 6.30pm.
Born in Aston , Birmingham , guitarist and songwriter Tony is best known as the founding member of pioneering heavy metal band Black Sabbath, and more of less single-handedly inventing the heavy rock music genre. Iommi is widely recognized as one of the most important and influential guitarists in rock music and is widely considered to be the man who invented the heavy metal riff.
Iommi has released over 30 albums with Black Sabbath, 2 solo albums, has sold over 80 million copies and is the recipient of 20 platinum and 14 gold albums. Black Sabbath were inducted into the UK Music Hall of Fame in November 2005, and in March 2006 into New York’s Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
Currently working on a new studio album with Heaven and Hell in America Tony is thrilled to return home to accept his Walk of Star honour; “It’s great – it’s really an honour – I’m really proud of it … I was shocked! It’s so nice to have things like that! I’ve got one out in LA but I’m not from LA – It’s so nice being recognised in your home town”.
Mike Olley, Broad Street Manager, said “We are delighted to be welcoming Tony onto the Broad Street Walk of Star’s. The contribution he has made to rock music deserves to be honoured and we are excited he has agreed to give us the opportunity to do so”.
Armed with scarfs, make-up, hairspray, black and bleached hair they were the most outrageous sleaze rock band coming out of Scandinavia in the late 80’s and early 90’s. Nasty Idols released four original albums and was considered as the next groundbreaking Swedish rock act after ABBA, Europe and Roxette. Nasty Idols spectacular on stage antics and their private world of Sex, Drugs and Rock n’ Roll revealed – they sold albums all over the world including U.S.A and Japan. After the break-up 1995 and being apart for more than 10 years the band was re-united with the original members 2006. They did the successful “Rejects On The Road” tour and started to write songs for a new album.
The new Nasty Idols album “Boys Town” was produced by Matti Engdahl and Andy Pierce and will be out in March 2009 on Metal Heaven and contain 12 new original songs.
Singer Andy Pierce comments: “We wanted to write really good tracks for the new album. Right after our last show in Copenhagen 2007 we jumped into the studio. We actually used the whole year of 2008 to write and record. Just like in the old days we just played the songs live and then added stuff. The whole spectrum of Nasty Idols is represented on the new album. The firestarter “Rock Out” is quickly followed by the groovy title track “Boys Town”. We also do real glam antics as the “New York Dolls” smelling “7 Year Itch”. We wanna use the old cliche – that this is our best album ever…but we don’t. We just say; if you’re into our kind of music…you’ll love this one!”
MÖTLEY CRÜE frontman Vince Neil was interviewed for tonight’s edition of CBS-TV’s “48 Hours Mystery”. The program, which airs at 10 p.m. ET/PT, focuses on the professional bodybuilder Craig Titus — who helped Neil lose 20 pounds as part of VH1’s “Remaking: Vince Neil” special — and Craig’s wife, Kelly Ryan.
A desription of the show reads as follows:
“Craig Titus and his wife Kelly Ryan were two of the biggest stars of the bodybuilding world. The duo — he, a Mr. Olympia competitor and she, a fitness champion — won numerous competitions and graced magazine covers. Titus even trained MÖTLEY CRÜE lead singer, Vince Neil, who admits to ’48 Hours Mystery’ that Titus used steroids and injected him with them. And steroids were not Titus’ only drug of choice. These Las Vegas hard bodies were also hard partiers, known for using illegal drugs and painkillers.
“But all that changed on Dec. 14, 2005, when the charred corpse of a young woman was discovered in Ryan’s burned out car on a Las Vegas desert road. The unrecognizable body was initially thought to be Ryan, but authorities were stunned when they arrived to the couple’s house only to be greeted by her at the door. The body was that of their live-in assistant Melissa James. And soon police pieced together the web of fame, sex, drugs and jealousy that ended in this brutal murder, a gruesome cover up and the downfall of a fitness powerhouse.
“Now, in a ’48 Hours Mystery’ exclusive, family, friends, detectives and witnesses each shed light on this shocking story. And, for the first time, shamed bodybuilder Craig Titus tells his side of what happened the night James died, insisting to ’48 Hours Mystery’ that is wasn’t murder. ‘She OD’d. She’d been shooting drugs for days…I never intended to kill Melissa James, murder Melissa James.'”
Watch a trailer for the program below.
“Remaking: Vince Neil” originally premiered in January 2005. Throughout the hour-long special Neil underwent a facelift, worked out with a personal trainer and most importantly, kicked his drinking habit. Following his physical transformation, Neil teamed up with some of the music industry’s top producers to record a new single, “Promise Me”, which was expected to surface on Neil’s new solo album (which, at the time of this writing, has yet to be recorded).

The film is set around Eddie Van Helsing hunting down a band of rockstar wannabe vampires. Also set to star along side the rock n’ roll legends are Jessica Pare and Malcolm McDowell, of Halloween and Heroes fame, and Stefaniuk himself who is no stranger to working with rock stars as he was the voice of Bobby “Buzz” Sawchuck on Gene Simmon’s “My Dad The Rockstar” which ran from 2004 to 2006 on Nicktoons. No release date has been set for the film.
Singer/guitarist/songwriter Terry Glaze (PANTERA) is joined by bassist Kinley “Barney” Wolfe (THE CULT, AMERICAN FUSE), drummer Chris Craig and guitarist Brian Harris (QUEEN FOR A DAY).

Back in August, Sebastian Bach opened up for Dokken and Poison on the Cincinnati, Ohio stop of Poison’s Live, Raw and Uncut Tour.
This was the second time that I have seen “Metal” Mike Chlasciak and Bobby Jarzombek live. The first time I seen them (in Cleveland, Oh) they were part of Halford (Rob Halford’s solo band). I already new after seeing that show how good these guys were. I was expecting a hell of a show out of these guys, and I was not disappointed.
Sebastian Bach came out and he immediately delivered. He quickly proved that he can still sing and scream with the best of them. “Metal” Mike is one of the better axe slingers playing today. I thought he sounded awesome.
Sebastian Bach’s set included a few new songs off of Angel Down, as well as some Skid Row classics. The set list included the following songs: “Back In The Saddle”, “Slave To The Grind”, “18 & Life”, “American Metalhead”, “Love Is A Bitch Slap”, “Monkey Business”, “I Remember You” and “Youth Gone Wild”.
I thought it was odd that Sebastian Bach was opening for Dokken. I thought they should have had the option for the better sound and lights, but that is just my opinion. Bach’s set was short, but the band made the best of it, and put on a good show.
On the clips below, Sebastian Bach’s voice sounds odd, but we our seats were not the greatest for this show and I don’t think the audio is a fair representation of how he sounded. The clips were still worth sharing. Check them out!

After November 15, all heavy metal and hard rock fans are going to be talking about “That Metal Show.” VH1 Classic has mixed the best of “The View” with “Headbangers’ Ball” to create “That Metal Show,” an outrageously funny weekly series that discusses and debates everything in the world of metal.
Heavy Metal and Hard Rock bands undoubtedly have some of the most intense and dedicated fans in the music scene. Many debate and disagree over which bands stand the test of time, and which are easily forgotten. “That Metal Show,” premiering on VH1 Classic on Saturday, November 15 at 11:00 PM*, settles all arguments and even debates new ones. From Sabbath to Slayer to Dokken to Dio, “That Metal Show” covers all of the fist pumping, head banging, hard rock acts of the past 40 years.
Hosts Eddie Trunk, Jim Florentine (Crank Yankers, Inside the NFL, Meet The Creeps) and Don Jamieson (Inside The NFL, Dice Undisputed, Meet The Creeps) discuss the latest rock news, share stories and argue about their favorite bands. Each week they will be joined by special guests who will weigh in with their opinions and offer their own unique viewpoints to each episode.
Scheduled to appear the first season are rock legends Rush, Twisted Sister, Lita Ford, Ace Frehley of KISS and a very special appearance by former baseball star Mike Piazza. Whether they’re arguing over the best British Metal Band of all time in “The Throwdown” or tracking down one of your favorite metal artists who disappeared in a “Whatever Happened To” segment, no topic is too small and no metal band is left behind.
But “That Metal Show” isn’t just a roundtable discussion; it’s about comedy too. Jim Florentine and Don Jamieson will hit the streets to connect and hang out with the fans….and by “connect” we mean pull pranks on them. In one episode, they pull a fast one on fans outside a Van Halen concert by telling them that they have a direct line to the band backstage. The comedy continues in studio, as host Eddie Trunk takes on the metal maniacs in the studio audience in the “Stump the Trunk ” metal trivia contest. If the audience can stump Eddie, they win a metal-worthy prize.
“That Metal Show” is a hilarious 30 minutes of mayhem that all fans of Hard Rock and Heavy Metal are bound to love! It is the perfect combination of music and comedy in one show. Tune in to VH1 Classic on November 15 at 11PM* to join the debate, and rock on!
“That Metal Show” is a production of VH1 Classic. David Diomedi serves as director with Lee Rolontz and Keshia Williams as executive producers for VH1 and Jeff Baumgardner producer for the series.

It is with deep sadness and regret that we announce the passing of Shadow Gallery vocalist, Michael A. Baker. Mike suffered a heart attack, Wednesday afternoon, October 29th, 2008. He was 45 years old. Mike was a founding member of Shadow Gallery and for the past 16 years, helped shape the sound of the band with his magical voice. Additionally, he made many appearances on rock records around the world. Those who knew him best were moved by his gentle spirit, sincere kindness , fun nature and passion for both music and sports. He was a warrior in the studio, a true professional. Mike was our friend, our singer and our brother. We loved him and will miss him enormously, but he will always be remembered in our hearts and through his music.
