Henning is most widely known for his two ground breaking CD’s under the moniker “Frameshift”, the first with James LaBrie, the second with Sebastian Bach. He also released 2 albums with his band Chain and 3 solo albums, the last one “Babysteps” was the last time we heard from him in the summer of 2006, but now he’s back with vocalist Juan Roos who last worked with him on his solo album “Credit Where Credit is Due” the year before.
“Shadow’s Mignon” was born out of an idea Henning Pauly had one day. He heard some classic metal in the car and decided to try to write some music in this style on his own. He employed the help of singer Juan Roos to give the project the definite metal vocal sound. At some point Keyboard player Stephan Kernbach brought over his Roland D50 for the official 80′s keyboard sounds. He laid down some parts of his own, especially his signature Hammond B3 playing.
The music of the band is everything you would expect from the glory days of the 80′s when guitar solos still screamed and vocals soared just like the eagles and dragons they were singing about. The album also features a few of the “must-have” ballads with all the classic chorusy guitars and keyboard sounds. “We were able to do so many things and use so many sounds we are told we “can’t use anymore” today because they are out of date, so we went back to our roots and made music that cannot live without them.”, says Henning.
“Henning has been with me almost since the beginning of the label, I think of him as an insanely talented little brother and I always enjoy what he puts out and this CD really took me back to the days when Dio ruled my turntable.”, said Shawn Gordon, President of ProgRock Records.
“Midnight Sky Masquerade” is the latest project from Henning Pauly released on ProgRock Records and can be found at http://www.progrockrecords.com/artists/view.php?id=112. This is a great album for those that enjoy 80’s metal. The album is available for immediate order and will ship in late December and be available at your favorite brick and mortar retailer on February 10, 2009. Presales are discounted $2 on the ProgRock Records site until the album starts shipping.

According to Hits Daily Double, the companion web site of music industry tip sheet HITS, GUNS N’ ROSES‘ long-awaited new album, “Chinese Democracy”, will drop out of the Billboard Top 10 next week with second-week U.S. sales that are expected to fall below the 80,000 mark.
“Chinese Democracy” sold 261,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release (including a reported 25,000 downloads at iTunes on November 23 not counted towards the opening week) to debut at position No. 3 on The Billboard 200 chart — right behind TAYLOR SWIFT‘s“Fearless” at No. 2 (with 267,400 sold) and KANYE WEST‘s “808s & Heartbreak”, which opens at No. 1 with sales of 450,000 and change.
According to Billboard.biz, “Chinese Democracy” topped the European Top 100 Albums chart this past week after making a series of notable debuts in European markets. That includes only one No. 1 debut, in Switzerland, but the album secures a second week at the helm in Finland and debuts at No.2 in the United Kingdom (on 119,000 sales) and Germany, No. 3 in Italy, Austria and Ireland, No. 4 in Holland, Sweden and Hungary and No. 9 in Portugal. The comeback release also climbs 5-2 in Norway and 26-10 in France.
Only singer Axl Rose remains in the current GUNS roster, having taken some 15 years to complete “Chinese Democracy” with a revolving cast of musicians.
As previously reported, “Chinese Democracy” looks set to drop out of the UK Top 5 this Sunday (December 6) based on the midweek figures released by Music Week. The CD debuted at No. 2 in the UK after failing to outsell “Day & Age”, the latest album from Las Vegas rock group THE KILLERS.
