Basic Tracks For CHICKENFOOT Album Complete
Former VAN HALEN bassist Michael Anthony has issued the following update:
“Whew, is it Holiday season again already?? I hope all of you had a great year, and are ready to finish it off in grand style!! First, I want to wish everyone out there Happy Holidays, and a Happy New Year!! Party hard, but party safe. Second, I want to update you on the status of CHICKENFOOT. Chad (Smith – RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS drummer) and I just got back this week from recording in the San Francisco area, and I am pleased to say that the basic tracks are finished and smokin’!! Right now Joe is sprinkling some guitar magic on everything, and next week Sam will be doing vocals. Then I’ll be back up there to slather some backround vocals on everything. I can’t wait for all of you to check it out!! Look out 2009!!!!”
Chickenfoot also features guitarist JOE SATRIANI and former Van Halen singer SAMMY HAGAR.

I really liked your blog post . Good read. I am surely going to bookmark your blog right now.
Who cares what any of you think, It is only YOUR opinion. I think the facts speak for themselves. All of these guys have been on top of the music industry for a few years now. The reason? Talent, pure and simple. You may or may not like all of what they have done, but I do not see any of you in their position in life. Have any of you had a top 10 song?, Any number ones? Any gold or platinum records? I did not think so, Now as for YOUR opinions they are the only ones that matter, after all we are the ones who buy their music. It is incredibly difficult to do what they do, creatively, physicly, and finacially, not to mention the pressure and deadlines. But remember if it was as easy as everyone thinks we would be writing about each other instead of these guys. The main thing I am trying to get across is just give the MUSIC a listen, If you like it play it again and enjoy. If you don’t like it trade it in for something else and move on.
I think it’s gonna be a no surprise rock thing, but powerfull.
Everybody seems to forget that Satriani was like a Lukather type of guy before being famous alone, playing good guitars for bands, as a real talented guitar player.
Hagar and Anthony made one a the most powerfull and creative record at that time with VH F.U.C.K in 1990, so I believe in a good rock records with Chickenfoot, and that’s enough for me today when I listen to all these shits around in the music industry.
If some tracks could be as good as Judgement day, Right now or Dream is over in FUCK, so that’s perfect for me.
Yeah,…I couldn’t give a rat’s ass about this “ChickenShit” album, band or Satriani’s bullshit playing.
M.Anthony did & does play a role in the VH history. Hagar IS a good singer & The Chili Peppers drummer is probably hiding a bald spot, wearing a cap everyday for the past 20 yrs. lol !!
But seriously, guitar-wise, Angus Young has Satriani beat..hands down.
I like your argument about Michael Anthony even though I don’t buy it. It is at least compelling and worth thinking about.
Hagar is a fine singer, but Ronnie Montrose was the creative force behind Montrose (whose debut was a fine album and released several years after I was an itch in my daddy’s pants). HSAS was just terrible. Yeah, I have the album and it’s an AOR snore fest. Hagar’s contribution to VH was simply that he fit their status quo approach rather than the excitement and creativity of the Roth era. Cosmic Universal Fashion was typical Hagar: consistent, a little bit fun and absolutely nothing new. Calling it “good” (as I did in my review) is generous. It’s certainly not interesting.
Satriani is just a wanker. Sure, he does it better than anyone, but that doesn’t change the fact that it’s still wanking. If he’s stop just doing exercises and really play, he might be able to make some good music instead of just showing off. Thanks for the links, but they do a better job illustrating my points than yours.
Chicketfoot = crap.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rBsbkzqxHVg&feature=channel_page – Listen to Michael Anthony singing lead and playing on “Somebody Get Me A Doctor”. He’s more talented than you know. MA – no talent”” you say. Next to who? MA is the reason for the following number one singles and I’ll tell you why for each. “Jump” was MADE by the bass – which the keyboard follows. It’s not the other way around. “When It’s Love” sounds complete by Mikey’s vocals and his bass is – again – the driving force behind a keyboard laden tune. Flipping the other direction “Poundcake” and “Hot For Teacher,” two singles that were without the keys, MA carries each tune completely. Eddie has a way of redirecting your attention on all four of these I’ve mentioned by seemingly overtaking the limelight. Musicians love MA. ‘Another reason you’re wrong. If musicians themselves love someone, it’s for good reason and talent is a big part of the equation. The background vocals were MA. MA can play a mean bass and he’s vocally impossible to replicate.
Watch Hagar and Anthony with VH on another song which MA shines: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c1d-c12Z5Ig&feature=channel
Sammy Hagar – you say “no creativity”. Jack, who are you? Do you realize he was making award winning music, selling millions in 1973, before you were an itch in your daddy’s pants? Montrose, solo, with another group of HSAS – Hagar, Schon, Aaronson, Shrieve, (just as Chickenfoot is HSAS: Hagar, Satriani, Anthony, Smith; uncanny similarity) and of course Van Halen, then the Waboritas today as well as Chickenfoot / HSAS II.
Hear Hagar and Anthony on this video where they play “Cosmic Universal Fashion” together. This is the most recent validation of their talent: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-74Zux7xJfA&feature=channel_page
Joe Satriani you said “no soul (or creativity for that matter)” and sound insane. He’s all about soul. Get and listen to Joe Satriani “Strange Beautiful Music” as well as “Super Colossal” and “Professor Satchafunkalicious and the Musterion of Rock” and talk to me about “soul”. Geez. You probably knock pro football players and say they suck too. Stupid. If someone makes it through all the also rans and talented people to the top you knock them. Satriani is one of the most respected names in music today and again, musicians LOVE him too. If musicians love someone there’s a good reason. Go to YouTube and watch anything of Joe Satriani. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=icdnKydffZQ is the studio version and video of “Summer Song” and http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jGNgcRwKW4Q&feature=related is the recent, of the same song, live, extended, by Joe, in 2006. No creativity ” ” you said?
Chad Smith I only know a few Chili Peppers songs of, but his rep is heavy so I’m trusting it’s all true. I can’t say I know at all about this guy.
‘Like keep the negativity going on the hip hop and death metal sites – how’s that grab you?
Anybody ever heard o jimpaul? No? I guess we’re even. Seriously, what does being known have to do with anything? If you disagree with me, say something meaningful.
Anybody ever heard of bob vinyl? I thought not and probably never will. What clueless angry fool. Go back to your cave.
Michael Anthony = no talent
Sammy Hagar = no creativity
Joe Satriani = no soul (or creativity for that matter)
Chad Smith = not enough of any of these things to save this train wreck.
