Hinder – Love Them or Hate Them? Tell Me Why!
Back in December, I caught Rev Theory, Trapt and Hinder live at Bogart’s in Cincinnati, Ohio. I decided to hit this show at the last minute. I haven’t seen Rev Theory or Hinder before, and I definitely wanted to check them out.
I will talk about Rev Theory and Trapt at a later time. The band that I was on the fence about was Hinder until I saw this show.
Hinder put on an arena sized show inside of Bogart’s, which is a capable of holding 1500 people or so.
Hinder’s stage was complete with ramps, a drum riser and a pretty awesome light show. This is nothing new if you have been to concerts before, but their stage set up reminded me quite a bit of those used by a few 80′s hard rock acts two decades before Hinder got their start.
I thought Hinder put on one hell of a show, in my opinion. I think most of the folks in the packed house at Bogart’s would have to agree. They did quite a few songs from their debut CD, “Extreme Behavior”, and their newer disc, “Take It To The Limit”. I enjoyed their set, and as a result of this show, I would definitely go see Hinder again.
After seeing them live, it made me ask this question, that I hope some of Hard Rock Hideout’s readers can answer. Why do people hate Hinder so much? I am sure there are a ton of bands out there, that immediately generate the anti-fan. Talk to any 80′s hard rock fan about music, and mention Nirvana, Hinder or Nickelback in the same sentence and see what kind of reaction you get. Usually, it won’t be a positive one.
So, I ask you, what is it about Hinder that you hate so much? I see a lot of Hinder bashing online, and I always wonder why. They may not be the best band in the world. I think they are good, but they could certainly continue to grow and get better in the future. I wouldn’t expect everyone to like them, but the vile hatred towards these guys is uncanny, in my opinion.

I dislike Hinder because they force the image that they want to have onto people. Their website talks about how they have the alcohol-drugs-sex sound. In reality, the bands that they are trying to emulate didn’t build their music upon a base of alcohol, drugs, and sex. Those things came as a result of being incredibly famous. There are many documentaries on bands like Ratt, Def Leopard, White Snack, AC DC, etc that tell about how the bands became hooked on drugs (or specific members did) and when they are alive today to interview about it, they tell about how they wish they never went down that path. The self-acclaimed “Blower” (the lead singer, I believe) and his band write their songs and build themselves on the persona of these other bands. If you look at most of the songs of the bands after which they are trying to follow, they aren’t really even about things like sex and alcohol and drugs. They are mostly based on being yourself and rebelling against anything that oppresses you. They weren’t out to get hammered, laid, and high and then make songs about it. It happened, but they didn’t do it on purpose just fit a particular image. The gist of what I’m trying to say is this: Hinder tries to fabricate a specific image for themselves to be cool. It’s just not natural.
Completely unoriginal. If i wanna listen to crappy hair metal ill put on a Winger or Def Leppard CD. Its one thing to be a suck ass band, its another thing to suck, not realize it, and start bashing bands who actually had an impact on the music industry. By the 3rd album these guys will be used up, how many time can you listen to a song talking about getting laid or drinking? Jesus….
You people are idiots. Hinder is not bringing back nothing but crappy music. They are just doing whats popular to do and that’s buttrock music. Hinder, Saving Able, Buck Cherry, Nickleback, Papa Roach, etc. are all doing the same thing and you people buy into it because its popular. Take a few minutes and find good music thats ORIGINAL!!!
Ok, here’s the deal. I actually like Hinders music, mostly, and I think they are helping bring back the old school rock, which is great too. Here’s what I hate about them:

Let me explain, everytime I hear an interview with anyone of them, all they can talk about is how much they drank the night before on the bus (THE BUS!) and that they like to get their dicks sticky. Well HOLY SHIT BATMAN! Looks like we’ve got some real trailblazers here. They are trying to do the Motley Crue thing but they can’t pull it off nearly as well and they just wind up looking retarded and lame. Get back on your shitty little bus, make one of your shitty free Jagermeisters, stick your stinky pencil dick back in the fat whore you picked up at the gas station and quit telling everyone about your second rate hedonistic excess. THAT’S why people hate Hinder, all bark and no bite.
