Rock band Saving Abel will join Seether as openers for Nickelback on their North American tour beginning this week on February 25th in Nashville, TN Saving Abel’s largest outing to date will hit arenas in over 30 cities across the continent. Tickets are currently on sale through Live Nation (www.livenation.com).
“We’re thrilled to be opening for Nickelback. It’s crazy, a year ago we were playing small bars and clubs around Memphis and now we’re touring the country in a bus and will be playing with one of the biggest touring rock bands in arenas,” said Saving Abel frontman Jared Weeks.
Saving Abel have been on the road non-stop since the March, 2008 release of their self titled debut from Virgin records and have played with rock heavy weights such as Buckcherry, Avenged Sevenfold, Puddle of Mudd and Shinedown. The band has enjoyed impressive success with their chart-topping, multi-format smash debut single “Addicted,” which hit #1 at mainstream rock radio, spent 11 consecutive weeks at #2 on the active rock chart and reached #7 at alternative radio. At press time, the track is the most played song of 2008 at the active rock format. “Addicted” found a whole new life in July when it impacted Top 40 radio. The run away hit is now sitting in the top 10 at the format and is top 15 at Hot AC. While “Addicted” is topping the pop charts, Saving Abel’s second single “18 Days,” a huge rock ballad dedicated to the troops, is heating up at rock radio where it is already top 10 at active rock and top 20 at alternative radio. Videos for both tracks have witnessed major play across all video channels including MTV2, VH1, Fuse and Music Choice where “Addicted” is currently the #1 played video an their “Hit List” channel. Saving Abel continues to reach new heights on the sales charts as well. The album spent 3 consecutive weeks at #1 on Billboard’s Heatseekers chart before debuting on the Billboard 200 in July. It has sold over 240,000 copies to date. ”Addicted” hit #20 on the digital singles chart and is approaching platinum success with over 800,000 singles sold thus far.
Saving Abel – named after the Biblical sibling of Cain – was formed by Jared Weeks and guitarist Jason Null in 2004 in their hometown of Corinth, Mississippi. Now based in Memphis, Tennessee, the band’s lineup includes guitarist Scott Bartlett, bassist Eric Taylor and drummer Blake Dixon. Combining influences of southern rock, hard rock and alternative music, the band was first heard on a 2005 EP, produced by Skidd Mills (12 Stones, Saliva, Submersed).

Lynam posted the following update tonight:
The Operation Rock Tour is off and kicking! So far the shows have been going great. We’ve met a lot of new friends on this tour including the other bands (Joan Red and Ashes Of Soma). Unfortunately 4 shows into the tour, the lead singer of Ashes Of Soma broke his ankle jumping off the stage (thanks to encouragement from David:). We received word that he is doing great and will be finishing out the tour. We’ll be in Michigan at the end of the week and are looking forward to seeing all of our friends from the surrounding areas.
We’re trying to decide on our next single. “Save My Soul” did amazing reaching #5 on the Active Rock Independent chart. We would love to hear from you what your favorite song on “Tragic City Symphony” is. Send us a message on Myspace with “Favorite Song” in the subject line.

Global Music is proud to announce the release of Therapy?’s upcoming album, Crooked Timber, on limited edition white vinyl, available from March 30th 2009.
In the 90’s Therapy? released a number of vinyl recordings themselves until they were told by various companies that ‘there wasn’t a market for it anymore’.
As avid music buyers themselves, Therapy? reminisce: “We still remember the thrill of buying vinyl, coloured punk singles, metal picture discs, noise bands on splattered vinyl. DR2 were prepared to release a vinyl version of ‘Crooked Timber’, so we jumped at the chance to give our fans something special to remember too.”
A final word of advice from front man, Andy: “Just don’t leave your copy in front of a radiator!”
Therapy? album, Crooked Timber is due out March 23rd 2009 and the limited edition white vinyl will be available from March 30th 2009.
Both are available to pre-order and receive on day of release via the Global Music Online Store: HERE!
The first video from the upcoming STATIC-X album, Cult of Static, has just premiered on the Headbanger’s Ball website. “Stingwray” features Tera Wray Static, the wife of frontman Wayne Static. Some of you might know Tera from her adult film days.
Cult of Static is Static-X’s sixth studio album and was produced by Static and John Travis (Social Distortion, Suicide Silence, Buckcherry). The album also features Megadeth’s Dave Mustaine who adorns “Lunatic” with legendary guitar work. Fans who pick up the album on Amazon.com will be treated with Static-X’s version of the Mötley Crüe classic, “Looks That Kill” which was recorded during the same sessions.
I am not ashamed to admit that I have been a U2 fan over the years. The band has been chugging out quality rock since 1980.
The music and production on this CD is exactly what you would expect it to be, awesome as always. The Edge plays with this perfect guitar tone that is easily recognizable as U2 as soon as you hear it.
With that being said, I don’t think this is U2’s best effort. I wasn’t overly impressed with their first single, “Get On Your Boots”. The have done a lot better stuff that this. To me, this feels like a leftover track, from one of their past releases. As a whole, it seems that there are more filler tunes than hit worthy cuts on this disc.
There are however some stand out tracks. “Stand Up Comedy” has a Zeppelinish guitar riff, and is one of the more rocking cuts on the record. “Breathe” out to be the second single off of the record. This song screams hit, and probably will be before it is all said and done.
After a few more passes, this CD may grow on me more. Overall, I feel that this is a good but not great album from U2.

The reunited original lineup of the Swedish hard rock band ELECTRIC BOYS has been confirmed for the Sweden Rock Festival, set to take place June 3-6, 2009 in Sölvesborg, Sweden.
The event’s organizers write in a press release: “ELECTRIC BOYS’ debut,’Funk-O-Metal Carpet Ride’, was an unprecedented thing on the Swedish hard rock scene in 1989. The blend of heavy rock and funk, influenced by AEROSMITH as well as THE BEATLES , was quite different from both dominant subgenres at the time, hair metal and thrash. The following year, a somewhat different version of the album saw an international release, and the song ‘All Lips n’ Hips’ got noticed — well, internationally. After one more album, ‘Groovus Maximus’ (1992), guitarist Franco Santunione and drummer Niclas Sigewall jumped ship, but singer/guitarist Conny Bloom and bassist Andy Christell re-completed the band for the release of a third album, ‘Freewheelin”(1994). Sadly, the story ended there, and Conny and Andy rose to even greater fame with Finns HANOI ROCKS (RIP). Now, however, the long-anticipated ELECTRIC BOYS reunion is finally a reality — and with all the original members, no less. For the first time in fifteen years, classics like’All Lips n Hips’, ‘Mary in the Mystery World’ and ‘Get Nasty’ will make us succumb to involuntary outbursts of dancing!”
