Loud & Proud/Roadrunner Records announced today the signing of a worldwide deal with Los Angeles hard rockers RATT. The band is set to begin recording its first new material since 1999’s self-titled album this spring.
One of the most popular rock acts of the past 20 years, RATT’s brand of hook-driven melodic rock helped shape the LA metal scene. The band boasts a deep catalog of hits including smashes like “Round and Round,” “Lay It Down,” “You’re In Love,” “Lack of Communication” and “Wanted Man” which are beloved by fans the world over. The band has gone on to sell millions of albums worldwide. With 1984’s mega-platinum debut Out of the Cellar celebrating its 25th anniversary this year, the band is looking forward to starting a new chapter with new music to complement the impressive legacy they have established over two-plus decades.
“This deal is a great opportunity for us to get our new music to RATT fans worldwide,” says frontman Stephen Pearcy.
“We are super excited about the new material!”
Over the past two years, RATT has toured the world in support of their releases Tell The World- The Very Best Of Ratt and their first ever DVD, Videos from the Cellar- The Atlantic Year. During this time, the current lineup of Stephen Pearcy, Warren DeMartini, Bobby Blotzer, Robbie Crane and Carlos Cavazo played shows in Australia, Colombia and Peru for the first time in their careers.
“The fans deserve the credit for making this happen. When we saw the band in concert and witnessed their passion and excitement, it was obvious that the time was right for RATT to make new music,” says Tom Lipsky, Loud & Proud President.
Guitarist Warren DeMartini adds, “we look forward to working with our friend and veteran record exec Tom Lipsky.
The new album is set for a fall release and will be supported by a world tour.

Frontiers Records is synonymous with quality melodic music in the rock, progressive, and metal genres. With over 400 records under its belt and chart success in all the core markets of Europe and Asia, Frontiers has become the European home of rock music greats such as Journey, Styx, Toto, Night Ranger, Winger, Dokken, White Lion, and many more. With the strategic move to open a US office and ink a direct distribution deal with Super D, Frontiers is now looking to increase the success story that started 12 years ago in a small room in Naples, Italy, under the initiative of the label’s President Serafino Perugino.
“We look forward to the fans’ reaction,” said Perugino. “We are releasing new music from some real rock music giants and we are convinced that US is the natural home to their music.” “I am excited to be working with artists whose bands I’ve been a fan of for so many, many years,” said US Label Manager Bryan Mechutan. Super D Independent Distribution (SDID) is the recipient of the NARM Small Distributor of The Year award.
Once upon a time I thought the band Black Tide had the market cornered as the youngest hard rock band out there. Suddenly there have been a few new entries to check out including Drive A, and Tulsa, OK rockers Crooked X.
The four members of Crooked X have an average age of……..wait for it……FOURTEEN. These young lads caught the watchful eye of Spencer Proffer and Doc McGhee when they submitted a video into the CBS “The Early Show” segment called “Living Room Live”. As they say, the rest is history.
Typically, I probably wouldn’t have given this CD a second look, but when I heard that former Motley Crue manager Doc McGhee was involved, I couldn’t resist checking out this band.
Even more surprising than than the band members’ ages is their debut CD that was recently released by MPM/EMI/Capitol. These four teenagers rock as hard as many of their modern rock counterparts.
The opening cut “Gone” is quite an addictive rocker that will have you singing/screaming along on the first listen. The good songs don’t end there. “Adrenaline” is a surprisingly good rocker with a lot of heavy, grungy guitar work. Singer Forrest French sings in a deep tone that I didn’t think was possible for a person his age.
“Rock and Roll Dream” is practically a hair metal song, and I love it. The falsetto in French’s voice on this tune reminds me a lot of Andrew Elt from the Sleeze Beez, which is pretty cool in my opinion.
“Nightmare” is the first song ever written by Crooked X. This tune was written by the band when they were a mere 11 years old! This is a pretty tasty number with some really cool guitar tones to start the song off. The song then morphs into a hard rocking number with some crunching guitar riffs. Good stuff!
Overall, I am pretty impressed with Crooked X. This CD is a pretty good start for these young Oklahoma rockers. It will be interesting to see how their career develops from here, but with Doc McGhee in their corner, they are in good hands.
