What’s Up Mother Fuckas…
Testament is about to embark on a KILLER North American tour and I am stoked!!! Formation of Damnation took us all over the world playing 126 gigs so far since the release of The Formation Of Damnation in April 2008. We even played rare shows in Eindhoven and London where we got to perform our first 2 Albums; it was incredible being on stage with our original line up performing songs from the early days of our career. It made us realize that we have a whole new generation of fans out there who love to thrash. Now we are coming home and there is nothing better than Headlining stages Coast to Coast. We are thrilled to be able to brutalize the nation and to be bringing some Class A Metal Acts: Unearth and Lazarus A.D. along for the ride.
Dudes, we have something SICK planned for you, we know times are tough and it is hard to get out there and spend the money on a ticket so we are making this tour YOURS. It is your choice what we play, check out the BRAND NEW contest live on our MySpace and VOTE on 3 set lists to determine our musical fate for the evening. We promise which ever set wins, we will get out on stage every night and kick your motha-fucking ass… Also, for the first time EVER we have VIP packages for sale. Pennsylvania Rock Outfit Continues to Tour Non-Stop, Joining Veer Union and Burn Halo on the Road in June; “HALESTORM” Now Available in Stores and Online
Atlantic Records has announced the release this week of the self-titled debut album from Halestorm. The set, which includes the first single, “I Get Off,” is now available in stores and through online retailers.
Produced by Howard Benson (Daughtry, My Chemical Romance, Flyleaf), “HALESTORM” is an explosive collection of infectious hard rock anthems, a fiery flurry of sexy hooks and rough and tumble grooves. Steering this runaway train is dynamic singer/guitarist Lzzy Hale, who brings a hypnotic intensity to such tracks as the sensual “I Get Off,” which is bulleting up the top 30 on the Active Rock radio chart.
Halestorm has begun garnering attention in the media, both in the U.S. and internationally. Mix magazine called Halestorm’s debut “rock ‘n’ roll at its finest.” UK music rag Kerrang! raved about Halestorm’s frenetic live performance, declaring: “…Halestorm’s delivery and songs are nothing short of note-perfect and instantly memorable, and if they don’t become incredibly massive immediately, there’s something very wrong with the world.” Revolver spotlights Lzzy Hale in the June issue’s “Hottest Chicks of Metal” feature, which is on newsstands now.
Halestorm has recruited new fans in droves on their non-stop nationwide tour. The band’s fierce live show wins over crowds city by city, every night. Over the last two months, the band has gathered nearly 10,000 in sales through pre-orders on their website and at their live shows. Currently, Halestorm is finishing up dates with Trapt, after which they’ll reunite with labelmates Shinedown for select shows. In June, the band will meet up with Veer Union and Burn Halo for a trek kicking off June 2 in Milwaukee.
Formed in 1998 by Lzzy and her brother, drummer Arejay Hale, Halestorm has made its bones as a major league hard rock outfit via countless North American gigs alongside such like-minded artists as Shinedown, Seether, Flyleaf, and Trapt. 2006 saw the release of Halestorm’s debut Atlantic EP, “ONE AND DONE,” which expertly captured the intensity and energy of the band’s live show.

Frontiers Records announces the return of the Italian Prog Metal hopes MIND KEY with the release of the band’s second studio album entitled “Pulse for a Graveheart” on July 3rd in Europe, August 11th in the USA with a Japanese release to follow on King Records.
Mind Key debuted in 2004 with Journey Of A Rough Diamond, an album that showed the excellent potential of the Neapolitan combo. With a colourful sound, akin to Prog Metal giants such as Dream Theater, Symphony X, Evergrey and Pain of Salvation Mind Key’s music also leaned towards a more mature and song oriented approach inspired by 80/90’s Hard Rock. Right before the release of the album the original singer Mark Basile left the group and in preparation of the tour dates, the guys met for the first time Aurelio Fierro Jr. a singer with a vast experience especially in theatres. He was able to give some splendid performances especially in the gigs that the band landed as support of Dream Theater for the Italian “Train Of Thought Tour 2004”. Mike Portnoy said: “These guys sound really excellent!”
Mind Key played then more live dates in support of Vision Divine and Pendragon and also appeared at the Progpower Europe Festival with shows in Poland, Switzerland, Holland, Germany and France. During the Polish dates, a Live DVD was recorded “Habemus Poland”, with Giorgio Adamo as frontman. However he soon left to make space for the return of Aurelio Fierro. Founding member and keyboardist Dario De Cicco explains: “We decided to go for Aurelio at the end of the songwriting sessions. Note after note, chord after chord we realized that the songs begged for Aurelio’s voice and it seemed almost a necessary decision to make. I think we did the right choice as only with his astonishing performances we were able to reach what we really wanted from the new material”.
The band began the recording of the second album “Pulse for a Graveheart”, simplifying their songwriting and giving the chance to Fierro to showcase his immense vocal potential which can be described as a powerful mix of Ronnie James Dio, David Coverdale and Jorn Lande. The album was later mixed and mastered by none other than Dennis Ward (Pink Cream 69, Angra, Krokus, Place Vendome etc.) to ensure the best sounding quality. According to guitarist Emanuele Colella “We knew from the beginning that Dennis was the right choice! Since the first communication together a perfect synergy was built. He could understand our need and desire to combine a modern melodic metal sound with our progressive roots and an heavier edge. He could totally deliver what we and the music needed, he’s just great”.
“Pulse for a Graveheart” also features some amazing guest musicians appearing such as Derek Sherinian (Dream Theater, Alice Cooper), who plays a keyboard solo on “Citizen of Greed”, Reb Beach (Whitesnake, Winger) on “Now Until Forever” and Tom Englund from Evergrey, dueting with Elio Fierro on “Graveheart”. Mind Key’s line-up now includes: Aurelio Fierro on vocals, Emanuele Colella on guitars, Dario De Cicco on keyboards and Andrea Stipa on drums.
“Pulse for a Graveheart” introduces to the fans a completely re-designed band, with a mature attitude and astonishing songwriting. “I hope the new record will give Mind Key the chance to get rid of the label of «prog metal band in the style of….» and bring us to a different status. We aim to be a Metal band – still staying true to our diverse influences ranging from progressive to hard and melodic rock – but with a personal and trademark sound” concludes Andrea Stipa. Get ready for one the Prog Metal revelations of 2009!
Final tracklisting includes: Sunset Highway; The Seventh Seal; Citizen of Greed; Crusted Memories; Dead Fame Hunter; Ventotene (The Island); Graveheart; Eye Of A Stranger; Now Until Forever; A New Generation.
With the world being flooded with Swedish sleaze and glam bands it should be no surprise that the legendary Nasty Idols are back with “Boys Town” their first release of new material since 1996’s “Heroes For Sale”. If you asked the new sleaze and glam bands coming out of Sweden about influences, it would be a safe bet to say the majority of them would list Nasty Idols somewhere on the list. Now Sweden’s Motley Crue, Andy Pierce (vocals), Dick Qwarfort (bass), Peter Espinoza (guitars), and newcomer Rikki Dahl (drums) are back to show all the upstarts how Swedish Sleaze is really done. With sirens wailing “Rock Out” gets us started, it is a good heavy song with some good gang vocals at the chorus. “Boys Town” follows the same formula as “Rock Out” a heavy song with a slow dirty groove to it. For me “Method To My Madness” is where “Boys Town” really kicks in and starts to take off, great song with a nice groove and solo from Espinoza, kind of has a Backyard Babies feel to it. “Scar For Life” is up next and if I didn’t know better it would be easy to think “Scar For Life” was a Shotgun Messiah B-Side from the “Second Coming” era with Pierce’s vocals sounding a lot like Tim Tim on this track.
“Nite Like This” is probably one of the best power ballads I have heard in quite a long time, great vocals, both lead and backup, and a really nice touch adding the acoustic guitar and organ to the song. Espinoza pulls off another good solo with a little bit of flash. The guys come back with guns blazing for “Crashlanding” and “48 Hours” both songs have a great sleazy groove which once again remind me of Backyard Babies. “7 Year Itch” along with “Nite Like This” and “Method To My Madness” is one of the best songs on the album, with a great groove, and some very cool guitar parts once again. “Evil One” is by far the heaviest song on the album with some Zakk Wylde style guitar parts but for the most part I wouldn’t have missed this song had it not be included on “Boys Town” “It’s Not Love” and “Need The Nite” are both decent songs. I have never understood why bands close albums out with a ballad instead of going out with guns blazing in a full throttle rocker, but closing with a mid tempo ballad is exactly what the Idols do with “It Ain’t Easy” which is a great song but just not the way I would finish an album.
All in all “Boys Town” is a good introduction or re-introduction to Nasty Idols and I am already looking forward to the band’s follow-up seeing if they can build off of what was started with this album.
