The 69 Eyes are due to release their 9th studio album Back In Blood on September 15th, via The End Records. The first single is the tongue-in-cheek ‘Dead Girls Are Easy’ – a nasty power anthem for sleazy pin-ups complete with a sing-a-long chorus aimed at those online chicks with the looks that kill! The video will be directed by MTV superstar and close friend Bam Margera, who was also responsible for the Eyes’ rock homage to ‘80s cult movie ‘The Lost Boys’.

They’re still hungry. Twenty-five years after the band rocked the world with songs such as “I Wanna Rock” and “We’re Not Going To Take It,” Twisted Sister is back with a 25th Anniversary Edition with the remastered original Stay Hungry album, a bonus disc of unreleased demos and outtakes, and a brand new song recorded especially for the collection. To celebrate the impending release of this collection, vocalist Dee Snider will play Call of Duty®: World at War™ and guitarist Jay Jay French will play Gears of War® 2 with Xbox LIVE® Gold Members July 1.

The band has released seven studio albums, the most recent of which is A Twisted Christmas from 2006, and numerous live albums and compilations. Stay Hungry is their third album, released in 1984, and it quickly went triple platinum on the strength of two of the most iconic songs of the mid-80s, “I Wanna Rock” and “We’re Not Going To Take It.” Now, on June 30, Rhino will re-release the album with a number of bonuses, including a brand new song, “30,” written by Dee Snider, Marc Beeman, and Sharon Lawson.

Band to Perform Songs from The July 14 Release of LEAVE THIS TOWN, the Follow-Up to Its Quintuple-Platinum Debut
Tickets Go on Sale July 11; Daughtry Will Offer a Free Ticket to the First 50 Fans In Each Market Who Pre-Order LEAVE THIS TOWN at www.DaughtryOfficial.com
Daughtry will embark upon a short club tour this August, starting just weeks after the release of LEAVE THIS TOWN (19 Recordings/RCA Music Group), the follow-up to the band’s Grammy-nominated and quintuple-platinum debut.
Singer Chris Daughtry, bassist Josh Paul, drummer Joey Barnes, and guitarists Brian Craddock and Josh Steely will use the intimate shows to perform many of the songs from the new album on stage for the first time. The 13-date tour will kick off August 2 in Orlando, FL and end August 22 in Las Vegas, NV. Tickets go on sale July 11. Daughtry will offer limited VIP packages as a pre-sale July 8th – 10th. Additionally, the band will also give a free ticket to the first 50 fans in each market who pre-order LEAVE THIS TOWN from www.DaughtryOfficial.com.
“This club tour is a thank you to our loyal fans. Its a great way for them to see us up close and, more importantly, at a cheap price,” says singer Chris Daughtry.
More than a month before its official release, LEAVE THIS TOWN is already generating considerable buzz for its musical range.
Rolling Stone: “The surprisingly diverse results include everything from the clubby ‘Supernatural’ to the fiddle-driven Vince Gill duet ‘Tennessee Line.'” … “‘Call Your Name’ [is] an anthem reminiscent of ‘November Rain,’ complete with a stirring key change, falsetto vocal runs and an explosive Slash-style guitar climax.”
Billboard: “And while Daughtry’s voice and rock riffs still play center stage to most of the album’s tracks, several songs take some creative chances. Daughtry wrote ‘You Don’t Belong’ on his own; it’s a hard-driving song that wouldn’t sound out of place on an Alice in Chains album.”
Daughtry will begin an extensive North American tour this fall.

EONIAN Records latest release comes to us from Chicago, IL in the form of “Conversation Piece” by Pistol Dawn. Originally formed in 1988 this four-piece is made up of Freddy “Faster” Brecht – Lead Vocals and Guitars, Scotti Ryan – Lead Guitar, Backing Vocals, Rob Stratton – Bass, & Don Ferguson – Drums. The band has toured with such acts as Cheap Trick, Dangerous Toys, Enuff Z’Nuff and Lillian Axe. Chip Z’nuff produced the band’s “Shot in the Act” e.p. and along with a touch of sleaze you can definitely hear Enuff Z’nuff influences on tracks like “Stocks & Blonds” & “Gone Away”. Like with most retro-releases the sound quality isn’t the greatest but this is by far the best release I have heard from Eonian so far.
The album’s title track kicks everything off with a sleazy hard driving beat from Stratton and Ferguson and some very nice playing from Ryan. Freddy Brecht’s vocals are also great on this song very hard to find anyone to compare his singing style too. “Dreams Come True” is a great catchy summer song, why this song did not get airplay back in the day is beyond me as it is custom built for radio and the same could be said for both “Be My Girl”, “Message In A Bottle”, and “HArd Way” as all three are filled with catchy hooks, great rhythm, and sing a long choruses. Scotti Ryan can definitely hold his own on guitar with just about anyone on stage today. “Gone Away” is a mid-tempo/ballad with a great guitar intro and playing throughout “Still Running Wild” and “Talk of the Town” get the band back into sleaze territory, with “Talk of the Town” being one of the best songs on the album. Fortunately Pistol Dawn saved the weakest track on the record for last with “Wish Upon A Star” because it would have definitely been a record killer if it was placed somewhere in the middle of the record.
If you’re looking an 80’s band that didn’t get a fair shake the first time around “Conversation Piece” and Pistol Dawn is a good place to start.

We can’t tell you how refreshing Halestorm is to us. Maybe you noticed too. Hearing a woman, Lizzy Hale, sing with a legitimate, shot-through-the-heart Rock & Roll voice is a rare treat these days. Combine her powerful, compelling and soulful vocals with an honest to goodness, kick ass, real-deal band and the results are a welcome addition to the Rock pastiche. Literally, because of Lizzy, Halestorm doesn’t sound like anyone else; you’re definitely not going to confuse them with any other band on your favorite radio station. Of course, there’s a reason why they sound so finely honed and tuned, the band has roots dating back to 1998 when some of the members were still pre-teens. At once young and veteran. This eponymous collection of eleven songs grabs you from the first one,”It’s Not You”, storms into the first single, “I Get Off”, keeps the energy level up with sonic pyrotechnics as intricate as Irish lace, and demands you keep listening. You can tell this is an assemblage of talent which has played more than a few gigs and gotten plenty of studio tans, despite the fact this is their first major label outing. Surrounding the aforementioned Ms. Hale is her brother Arejay Hale bangin’ on the kit, Joe Hottinger rippin’ on guitar and Josh Smith thumping his bass. You can learn more about the band at HalestormRocks.com and their MySpace.
Halestorm is currently on the road taking their music to you; we’ll catch up with them the night before they perform at one of the most revered and legendary celebrations in America, Summerfest in Milwaukee. Mustard and kraut on the brat please. Then they latch onto a big summer tour with Staind, Shinedown and Chevelle, a jaunt where they can continue to cut their teeth and earn their own audiences by opening up for someone else’s. It’s the ultimate road test and one of the toughest things a group can do. So we’d like to help them cultivate their own fans in whatever way we can because we think there is something going on with this band, so we decided to invite them on, introduce them to you, play some of their music and see if you hear what we hear. Someone else believes in them too because they brought in a heavyweight producer and snagged the best mixer in the world to help put some thunder in Halestorm. The albums where you don’t want to skip a few songs are pretty rare, even rarer are the ones where you want to hear the songs again. Right then and there.
We are very pleased to welcome Halestorm to the next ROCKLINE and hope you have a few minutes to check them out, because we have a feeling you’re going to hear about them sooner or later and it might as well be sooner.

Velvet Revolver/ex-Guns N’ Roses bassist Duff McKagan’s current project, Duff McKagan’s Loaded, has reportedly been confirmed as one of the second-stage performers at Crüe Fest 2 tour, Mötley Crüe’s version of Ozzfest which features additional support from Godsmack, Theory Of A Deadman, Drowning Pool and Charm City Devils. As a result, Duff McKagan’s Loaded’s previously announced short run of U.S. club dates, which was scheduled for later this week, has been canceled.
“Sick”, the new full-length album from Duff McKagan’s Loaded, sold around 1,400 copies in the United States in its first week of release, according to Nielsen SoundScan. The CD landed at position No. 43 on the Top New Artist Albums (Heatseekers) chart, which lists the best-selling albums by new and developing artists, defined as those who have never appeared in the Top 100 of The Billboard 200.
“Sick” was released in North America on April 7th via Century Media Records.
“Street punk with a greater melodic sense!!” – ALTERNATIVE PRESS
SUICIDE CITY was first conceived when Biohazard vocalist/guitarist Billy Graziadei met Karl Bernholtz, vocalist of the south Florida band The Groovenics. The pair was joined by drummer Danny Lamagna, who had been recommended by members of Sworn Enemy. Soon after, Groovenics guitarist AJ Marchetta was added to the fold, and the lineup was finally rounded out by former Kittie bassist Jennifer Arroyo.
Not the type of band to just wait around for things to happen, SUICIDE CITY self-released an EP, ‘Not My Year,’ in 2005 and has since managed to sell over 7,000 copies sans label support. That year they also saw success in the form of a “Best Unsigned Band” award from East Coast Romper. In 2006 Kerrang! called them “a mesmerizing presence” and said that they had “manic wide eyed energy.” They have also self-produced and released a live DVD, entitled ‘Live From CBGB.’
The band has reputation for consistent and energetic touring, having spent time on the road with the likes of Otep, Taking Back Sunday, Gwar, Danzig, Life of Agony, Birthday Massacre, Mindless Self Indulgence, Despairs Ray, MXPX, Mushroomhead, and others.
Although the individual band members come from wildly different backgrounds, they all share a common passion for music and an unfaltering loyalty to SUICIDE CITY. As Arroyo says, “Suicide City inspires to me to reach new levels of sound and emotion.” Graziadei describes SUICIDE CITY’s sound as “punk rock, dirty rock ‘n roll with some big balls of metal and a touch of manic depression thrown in.” Lamagna’s precise percussion fury adds to the speed and aggression of the band’s sound, but is reigned in when a more melodic sound is required. The layers of Marchetta’s and Graziadei’s guitars succeed in laying down an aggressive onslaught as well as some impressive and unexpected melody while Arroyo’s bass holds down the low end of the party. Bernholtz vocalizes emotional poetry masterfully, and more than matches the music’s energy.
On August 4th, SUICIDE CITY releases their debut full-length effort, entitled ‘Frenzy,’ via Brooklyn label THE END RECORDS. “‘Frenzy’ is such an eclectic blend of music,” says Marchetta. “This band is unafraid and unapologetic about what we create, and because of that we have an album with a really wide musical landscape.” Graziadei points out, “In our short time together, Suicide City has achieved more on our own than most bands do in their whole career with the help of a label.” Perhaps Bernholtz sums it up best: “Suicide City thrives on making people happy and smile through our music without having to candy coat anything. Life does not ‘suck and then you die.’ Life is great, dangerous, exciting, strange, and then you die. I guess that’s what we’re trying to portray with our music.”
SUICIDE CITY is:
Kalle Bernholtz – Vocals
Jennifer “Ms.JennCity” Arroyo – Bass, Vocals
Billy Graziadei – Guitar, Keyboard, Vocals
A.J. Marchetta – Guitar
Dan Lamagna – Drums

I must admit that I am not a die hard Marilyn Manson fan. I own a few of his CD’s, but his songs have always been hit or miss with me. I get his whole shock rock routine. It is certainly nothing new, but Manson does a good job keeping his name out there.
When Manson’s seventh album, “The High End of Low” hit last month I wanted to spend some quality time with his latest work before I posted a review. There is over seventy minutes of music to consume on Manson’s latest opus.
“The High End of Low” sees the return of Marilyn Manson’s long time guitarist Twiggy Ramirez. I don’t know if Twiggy’s return has anything to do with it, but Manson sounds a little more inspired on this disc.
The opening cut “Devour” is a moody rocker that leaves me guessing where this album is going. The only thing I didn’t like about this song is how it comes to an abrupt halt at the end.
“Leave A Scar” is a mid tempo number that is kind of catchy. This song has become an early favorite of mine.
The first single and video off of this album, “Arma-Goddamn-Motherfuckin-Geddon” is a creepy but cool rocker.
I can hear the song “WOW” getting play in some dance clubs. This song kind of reminds me of the industrial pop that Nine Inch Nails was doing back in late eighties.
The only thing stopping “Unkillable Monster” from getting some radio play are a couple of “F” bombs in the lyrics. They ought to do a radio edit on this tune.
“We’re From America” is a catchy tune with more big beats and an industrial edge that will find its way to quite a few turntables.
“The High End of Low” has a little bit of something for everyone, assuming that you won’t be offended by the sometimes harsh lyrics. Long time Manson fans will be happy to with this disc. There are a few songs on “The High End of Low” that are just on the o.k. side, but this disc seems to have grown on me after multiple listens. Recommended to all Manson fans.

Earlier this year, I saw Saving Abel, Seether and Nickelback live. My wife is a Nickelback fan, and I honestly thought I was taking one for the team by going to see this show. My wife goes to see quite a few bands that she doesn’t care for, so I definitely owe her a bunch.
I like Saving Abel and Seether well enough. In fact, I saw Seether just a few days prior to this show. This was my first time to see Nickelback live, and I must say, I was pretty surprised by their show. It was like an old school 80’s rock concert. This band often takes a bad rap, but I enjoyed their show, and wouldn’t hesitate to go see them again.
I was able to capture a few clips from the show, including Nickelback’s performance of the Filter song,”Hey Man Nice Shot” with Seethers, Shaun Morgan.
Enjoy the clips below!
Yesterday, I posted a review on the debut CD from SKIN. Check out the two bands that the members of SKIN came from, Kooga and Jagged Edge.
The Kooga video below, “Across the Water” is a fan made clip, but the song is pretty cool. Kooga is the band that featured Neville MacDonald on vocals.
Jagged Edge once featured Myke Gray and Andy Robbins. I detect a Paul Gilbert like style in Mike Gray’s playing in this video. Check it out.

E1 Music announces the addition of Canada’s KITTIE to its heavy metal roster. Under this worldwide deal, KITTIE will release three albums for the label.
KITTIE (Morgan Lander — vocals and guitar, Mercedes Lander — drums, Tara McLeod — guitar, and Ivy Vujic — bass guitar) has released four studio albums during its career which have sold collectively over 1,250,000 copies. The band’s new album, “IN THE BLACK,” is slated for release on September 15, 2009. Some new songs on the album are “Cut Throat,” “Sorrow I Know” and “My Plague.”
KITTIE vocalist Morgan Lander says, “We are totally thrilled and honored to be working with Scott Givens and to now be part of the E1 family. We have been hard at work for the past few months perfecting our latest musical offering and are pleased with the final result of ‘IN THE BLACK.’ It is everything that Kittie is supposed to be: heavy, fast, brash and nasty, yet at times introspective, feminine and emotional. One thing it is not, however, is compromising of the sound and style that we have come to be known for. This s*** is HEAVY! Our new label pairing with E1 will actualize the vision that we have held constant over the years for the band.”
E1 Music VP of Metal Scott Givens adds, “As a band, KITTIE truly is a one of a kind powerhouse. I know I speak for everyone at E1 Music when I say how excited we are to be working with them and launching ‘IN THE BLACK’ to the masses.”
Currently the band is working on Fall tour plans and will be shooting two videos during the month of July.
A band that I recently discovered through the live streaming of the Download Festival a couple of weeks ago is the band SKIN. I enjoyed their live set, and had to learn more about this band.
Who is SKIN? Myke Gray and Andy Robbins are former members of the bands, Tokyo Blade and Jagged Edge. Neville MacDonald is the former singer from the band Kooga. When these guys got together to form SKIN, there was no market for this type of music. This is probably why I missed them the first time around. Nonetheless, I am glad to hear them for this first time in 2009. This is a really cool band that has a sound that reminds me of a cross between Thunder and possibly Extreme. Neville MacDonald has an awesome voice that truly powers the songs on this disc.It blows my mind that I have not heard him sing before now. Myke Gray’s guitar work is a pleasure to listen to as well. If you listen closely, you can even hear current Warrant front man, Robert Mason signing back up vocals on this CD.
The Bottom Line: You won’t find a bad song on SKIN’s debut. If you like the videos below, you need to seek out a copy of this disc. You wont be disappointed. There are several great songs including “Colourblind”, “Look But Don’t Touch”, “Tower of Strength” and “Raised on Radio”.
For more information on SKIN, check them out on myspace at this link or at the band’s website here. The only place I could find a copy of this CD at a semi reasonable price was through Amazon France. It is well worth the import price! Highly Recommended!

Sharpen your fangs, The Helsinki Vampires are back. And this time, they’re “Back In Blood”
THE 69 EYES return with their ninth studio album, which has been hailed a latter-day “Appetite For Destruction”. With blood on their hands and AC/DC on their stereo, the bloodsuckers have combined their past to focus on the future. Turning their back on the comic book glam of “Angels”, The Eyes have opened a heavier chapter in their musical career. For the first time this decade, honorary sixth vampire Johnny Lee Michaels has been granted temporary leave from the batcave and Matt Hyde (Slayer/Monster Magnet) has been invited over the threshold to produce the record.
“He’s cleaned the table and dusted the skeletons!” singer Jyrki 69 laughs. “It’s like when Rick Rubin helped The Cult discover them on “Electric” – we made a similar spiritual journey with Matt.”
Once again THE 69 EYES have their finger on the pulse of darkness with 12 goth ‘n’ roll anthems guaranteed to rock the crypt. “Unsurprisingly, the main inspiration for the album came from the vampire realm,” Jyrki explains. “We haven’t made a concept album but nearly all the songs have something to do with the undead or at least horror as a genre.” Delving into his movie collection, the singer focused on Jean Rollin’s erotic French flick “Lips Of Blood”, “The Hunger” and the modern-day opus “Night Watch”. “It’s almost like vampires are taking over the world!” he muses referring to the current “Twilight” mania.
The album opens with title track “Back In Blood”, which is a fast-paced wake-up call to the vampire king who’s been asleep for centuries and is now ready to rock. Blood is the new black and it’s never tasted this good: “2000 years now, baby I’m back!” he sings, licking his lips. Jyrki describes the song as: “More Mötley than Mercy but with a Crüe made of Sisters.” The bloodthirsty swansong is an intimate piano and acoustic guitar-driven ballad called “Eternal”, performed as only a half-rotten Vampire Lestat could on a sultry southern night…
The first single will be the tongue-in-cheek “Dead Girls Are Easy”, a nasty power anthem for sleazy pin-ups complete with a sing-a-long chorus aimed at those online chicks with the looks that kill! The video will be directed by MTV superstar and close friend Bam Margera, who was also responsible for the Eyes, rock homage to 80s cult movie “The Lost Boys”.
Matt Hyde’s ultra-tight production has brought the danger back to THE 69 EYES’ sound. The producer reveals: “I’ve tried to feature the guitars, drums and vocals – the core sound of the band. I wanted them to rock and I wanted less emphasis on outside orchestration and keyboards with more real power and emotion through the performance itself.”
But it’s not just danger that Matt’s unleashed, he shares the same passion for horror and comics as Jyrki and the results of their marathon viewing sessions have seeped through onto disc. “We watched at least three movies every night while recording the vocals,” the front man reveals. “We soon exhausted Matt’s DVD collection so we started renting everything we hadn’t seen from his local rental store. Once we’d got through everything they had there, we bought more and more and he’s now got a nice collection classic British Hammer films, cool 60s biker movies and vampire classics. Afterall, we couldn’t have made a record like this without Bela Lugosi or Christopher Lee watching over our shoulder!”
The artwork has been designed by Estevan Oriol, whose work has graced countless covers from Cypress Hill to The Transplants and Snoop Dogg. “I’ve been a fan of his iconic images for years, he’s like a present-day Andy Warhol. I’m so happy that he agreed to work with us because it’s given this record a real “made in LA” stamp.”
Recording “Back in Blood” in Hollywood also put THE 69 EYES in a prime location for well-known visitors. Brides Of Destruction’s London LeGrand and Care Failure from Die Mannequin are among the familiar names listed on the credits. But this isn’t just a party album; it’s a great rock record, and if you’re into vampires, you’ll enjoy it even more!
We’ve worked so hard over the last two years since “Angels” was released, says Jyrki. “We played around 125 shows worldwide but all our sacrifices paved the way for the birth of this baby. “Back In Blood” is a culmination of 20 years worth of hard work.”
If you want blood, you’ve got it!

Atlantic recording group Skillet has announced the forthcoming release of their eagerly awaited new album. “AWAKE” — which features the tracks “Hero” and “Monster” — arrives in stores and at all online retailers on August 25th.
Produced by Howard Benson (Three Days Grace, Daughtry, Flyleaf), “AWAKE” is available now for pre-order via the rock outfit’s official website, located at http://skillet.com. A variety of packages are being offered, pairing the album with such bonuses as an exclusive Skillet t-shirt, an autographed VIP pass, and membership in Skillet’s official fan club. All pre-orders of “AWAKE” come with an immediate download of “Hero.”
The release of “AWAKE” will be preceded by the electrifying new single, “Monster.” The track is slated to impact at Active Rock and Mainstream Rock outlets nationwide on July 14th, while a companion video is currently in pre-production.
One of America’s hardest working live acts, Skillet will herald “AWAKE” with an exhaustive tour schedule, kicking off a full-scale headlining tour at Fort Wayne, Indiana’s Embassy Theater on September 24th.
In other news, Skillet frontman John Cooper and producer Brian Howes recently collected two BMI Music Awards for “The Last Night” and “The Older I Get,” both featured on 2006’s Grammy Award-nominated “COMATOSE.”
“COMATOSE” proved Skillet’s most popular work to date, with sales now approaching RIAA gold certification. The album followed the band’s 2003 label debut, “COLLIDE,” which launched Skillet into the mainstream while also garnering their first Grammy Award nomination.
Founded in 1996, Skillet has earned ecstatic praise for their inspirational and intense approach to hard-edged alternative rock. Hit Parader celebrated Skillet for “(bringing) to mind the kind of slick, studio-savvy work that made vintage Aerosmith and Bon Jovi so much fun to listen to.” “Skillet… continually push their musical muscle with soaring guitar work interspersed with their take on 80’s hair-metal ballads,” declared Mix.

Last night my wife and I celebrated our third wedding anniversary by going to go
see Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, on its opening night.
The night before, I read some pretty heinous reviews of the movie, but I still wanted to to see it. What amazes me is when the paid film critics go to see a movie like this, do they expect to see a movie like Slumdog Millionaire? Those of you interested in this film, probably aren’t going to this film to see oscar winning acting (you wont find it here) anyway.
Transformers:Revenge of the Fallen is nothing more than an action movie with a sci-fi twist to it. Is it the best movie I have ever seen? No. Is it entertaining? Absolutely. The action and effects are all top notch stuff.
There are plenty of returning characters from the first Transformers film, and the story picks up where the last movie left off.
Shia Lebouf is back as Sam Witwicky, and Megan Fox heats up the big screen with her role as Sam’s girlfriend, Mikaela Barnes. Both of them do a solid job in their roles, but the true stars of this film are the Transformers.
Returning autobots and decepticons from Robots in Disguise are Optiumus Prime, Bumblebee, Ratchet, Ironhide, Megatron, Starscream, Scorponok. There are a slew of new characters
including Arcee, the annoying but sometimes funny twins Mudflap and Skids, Jetfire, Wheelie, Devastator, Ravage, Soundwave, and the Fallen.
The new characters are cool, but much like the first film I often have a hard time recognizing one character over another. I am not a big fan of the bionicle look of the Transformers, and the big screen version of the characters often lack the primary colors of their animated counter parts. When the battles heat up, I some times had a hard time figuring out who was who.
The story is once again centered around Sam Witwicky. The plot of the movie seems to be Save Optimus, Save the World. Once the story kicks into gear, the nearly two and half hours of this movie seems to go pretty quick.
The bottom line, if you enjoyed the first Transformers movie, you are going to enjoy this one too. The massive sights and sounds needs to be experienced on the big screen. My wife an I had a happy anniversary, as we both enjoyed this movie.
Frontiers Records is excited to announce the release of the newest addition to its roster of Artists. Ladies and Gentlemen, from Finland, please welcome CAIN’S OFFERING debut album “Gather the Faithful” to be released on August 28th in Europe and September 11th in the USA.
The band is the new artistic creation of Jani Liimatainen, the guitarist/songwriter formerly of Sonata Arctica and Altaria. In 2007 Jani parted ways with Finnish Power Metal act Sonata Arctica, a band he has contributed to found in 1996 and to which he devoted his full time and energy for more than 10 years.
Following his departure from one of Finland’s biggest music exports in recent years, all eyes were set upon his newest creation: Cain’s Offering. “After parting ways with Sonata Arctica, I took “a leave of absence” from the metal circles, feeling that I had not much to offer at the time and that I needed a break to charge my batteries” states Liimatainen. “After a year or so the hunger to play metal returned with a vengeance, and so I decided to put together a new group of my own. I gave a call to a few friends, and voila: Cain’s Offering! Cain’s Offering is a collaboration of a world-class musicians and one of the best singers in the world of Heavy Metal. All of these guys are handpicked from the very best the Finnish metal scene has to offer and I’m very proud to have them join me in this band”.
Joining Jani in his quest for world domination – or rapid success, whichever comes first – are vocalist Timo Kotipelto (Stratovarius, Kotipelto), keyboardist Mikko Harkin (Solution.45, Mehida, ex-Sonata Arctica, ex-Wingdom, ex-Kenziner), bassist Jukka Koskinen (Norther, Wintersun) and drummer Jani “Hurtsi” Hurula (Paul Di’Anno).
Drawing its musical influence from both the classic Hard Rock scene, the fast-paced European Power Metal and a very modern Heavy Metal sound, Cain’s Offering is, just as expected, a perfect example of today’s living and breathing Finnish music scene. “To me Cain’s Offering is a perfect combination of the things I value in music: beautiful melodies, emotions, top-notch musicianship and some kick-ass Metal! Basically it represents music as I like to hear it; every element is in its rightful place. I feel that what we came up with has all the traditional values, that so many metal-heads, myself included, hold so dear, but with a fresh new twist to it” says Jani. “Lyrically the songs deal with very basic, almost primal emotions and subjects most people will be able to relate to … and … there are absolutely no dragons allowed :)”
So, this is a tour-de-force of who’s-who in the Finnish heavy metal scene, and yes, this does sound like a wet dream come through for all fans of melodic metal. And guess what – the product exceeds all expectations! With the debut album, “Gather The Faithful”, ready for a summer 2009 release, Cain’s Offering waste no time, and backed up by such a strong record label as Frontiers Records and their management Intromental, there’s no doubt that 2009 will be the year where the Finnish metal scene finds a new hot exponent.
“Gather The Faithful” includes the following songs:
LINKIN PARK have premiered the video for “New Divide,” their song off the soundtrack to Transformers 2: Revenge of the Fallen.Transformers 2: Revenge of the Fallen is in theaters today!!

Have you ever heard a thrash metal band sing about signs of the apocalypse, God being the only one that matters, Microsoft controlling the masses, or the need for an environmental cleansing? If not, you probably haven’t listened to Grave Forsaken’s This Day Forth, eight heavy songs that revolve around making the world a better place and how humans are destroying it with their greed and lustful desire for more.
Hailing from Perth, Australia, Grave Forsaken has been rocking and rolling since their formation in 2004. This Day Forth is the bands third album and the first for their new label, Soundmass. They are definitely a thrash metal band with a Megadeth influence, but traces of Suicidal Tendencies and a pinch of Manowar are apparent throughout.
This Day Forth kicks off with “No News…Ain’t Good News” and the message is made clear early on: the world needs to change. The lyrics in this song (and throughout the album) speak of melting polar ice caps, environmental disaster, and political agendas, the collapse of the global economy and the absence of free will. Combined with the heavy, thrashing rhythm of crashing drums and amazing guitar work, the message is delivered like a kick in the groin.
The lyrics to the music are what really make this record stand out. Deep, meaningful prose that forces the listener think about the world and their situation in it is captured here. Themes such as selling yourself on a daily basis, giving all of your energy to the job and having none left for a personal life, as well as re-examining your relationship with the Earth and the Lord are all poignant and effective in their mission to make one think and reconsider what is being done on a daily basis.
The guitar work from Vaughan Gregory and Elias Salmela is absolutely incredible and adds depth and power to the record. Their twin guitar attack is crisp, clean, and clear, and their outstanding ability to shred the axe shines through on this album. While Vaughan’s vocals leave a little to be desired, they blend well enough for this thrashing metal attack on the senses.
The title track is the best song on the record, hands down. The heavy laden guitar intro leading right into the drums kick starting the song into high gear is an immediate announcement…pay attention! The drum beats and chord changes blending with the heavy chants of “This Day Forth!” are what make this song so appealing and likable. A fist pounding, rage filled anthem if ever there was one.
While there is a lot of originality in the lyrics to the record, there isn’t much in the way of the music itself. A few of the songs sound eerily similar with different lyrics and that takes away from what could have been an extremely strong album. Too many tracks have the same format with similar bass and drum beats, and the vocal range does not change much (if at all) from song to song.
The similarity to Suicidal Tendencies on “Celebrity Judge” and The Sinners Part III” sounds so close to that band, you would almost think they recorded it. Once again though, the guitar work stands out on this track and forces the ear to take notice. Cookie Monster makes an appearance at the end of the song (and again for “Death Undone”) in the form of the grunt and growl vocal styles noticeable in a lot of death/doom metal bands.
“This Day Forth” is thrash metal done right, but it could have been done just a little bit better. While not an awful record by any stretch of the imagination, it’s an album that would benefit from some polishing.

FORTHCOMING ALBUM, “ON WITH THE SHOW,” FEATURES 11 RECENT TRACKS, 8 CO-WRITTEN BY LAMBERT
The much-discussed new single, “Want” by Adam Lambert will be available on iTunes beginning June 23rd, 2009. The song comes from a full album entitled On With The Show, which will be released by Hi Fi Recordings/Wilshire Records this summer. The vast majority of songs on the album were co-written by Lambert, in fact; eight tracks of the forthcoming eleven song album were co-written by the artist. “Want” was produced by Malcolm Welsford with additional production by Mark Endert (Maroon 5, The Fray, Fiona Apple).
On With The Show is drenched in Lambert’s signature sound and style. It is part of the more than two albums’ worth of material he recorded with production and publishing company Wilshire Records over the course of their three year relationship. Before any other major entity, producer Malcolm Welsford and his independent label, Wilshire, recognized Lambert’s musical gift and nurtured and supported his development. Both in the studio and as a writer, Adam honed his craft with the help of the producers, who also wholeheartedly encouraged Lambert to pursue his Idol opportunity.
Adam’s success on the show allowed America to see what Wilshire Records always believed – his meteoric rise to prominence was no fluke, it came from years of hard work and talent.
Partner label, Hi Fi Recordings, also an independent label and home to Idol alumn Melinda Doolittle, Smashmouth, Todd Rundgren. Dionne Warwick, and Donny & Marie (Osmond), is known for their unconventional and artist-friendly partnerships and profit splits. On With The Show is the first release in an overall deal between Wilshire and Hi Fi to develop other Wilshire artists and collaborate on new releases.
The decision to release On With The Show was made after the Hi Fi team heard and was blown away by the quality of the material.
Hi Fi Recordings CEO John Hecker, who in addition to artists listed above previously signed Avril Lavigne, Spacehog and Marvelous 3, states, “As fans of Adam’s work ourselves, it is a top priority to us that Adam shares in the success of this music. Hands down, “Want” is one of the biggest radio smashes I have heard in a long time and the album will contain more of the same. We’re thrilled to see that fans on message boards across the internet overwhelmingly agree that the song is a hit with them. As a prelude to Adam’s Fall album, we’re thrilled to be able to share the music of “ON WITH THE SHOW,” which Wilshire Records put so much time into developing with the artist.”
Hi Fi President and music publishing veteran, John Titta will also be heavily involved in all aspects of the album, from all creative decisions concerning the repertoire to the licensing of the masters and copyrights.
