Halestorm on Rockline Tonight at 11:30 EST/ 8:30 PST

halestorm

We can’t tell you how refreshing Halestorm is to us. Maybe you noticed too. Hearing a woman, Lizzy Hale, sing with a legitimate, shot-through-the-heart Rock & Roll voice is a rare treat these days. Combine her powerful, compelling and soulful vocals with an honest to goodness, kick ass, real-deal band and the results are a welcome addition to the Rock pastiche. Literally, because of Lizzy, Halestorm doesn’t sound like anyone else; you’re definitely not going to confuse them with any other band on your favorite radio station. Of course, there’s a reason why they sound so finely honed and tuned, the band has roots dating back to 1998 when some of the members were still pre-teens. At once young and veteran. This eponymous collection of eleven songs grabs you from the first one,”It’s Not You”, storms into the first single, “I Get Off”, keeps the energy level up with sonic pyrotechnics as intricate as Irish lace, and demands you keep listening. You can tell this is an assemblage of talent which has played more than a few gigs and gotten plenty of studio tans, despite the fact this is their first major label outing. Surrounding the aforementioned Ms. Hale is her brother Arejay Hale bangin’ on the kit, Joe Hottinger rippin’ on guitar and Josh Smith thumping his bass. You can learn more about the band at HalestormRocks.com and their MySpace.

Halestorm is currently on the road taking their music to you; we’ll catch up with them the night before they perform at one of the most revered and legendary celebrations in America, Summerfest in Milwaukee. Mustard and kraut on the brat please. Then they latch onto a big summer tour with Staind, Shinedown and Chevelle, a jaunt where they can continue to cut their teeth and earn their own audiences by opening up for someone else’s. It’s the ultimate road test and one of the toughest things a group can do. So we’d like to help them cultivate their own fans in whatever way we can because we think there is something going on with this band, so we decided to invite them on, introduce them to you, play some of their music and see if you hear what we hear. Someone else believes in them too because they brought in a heavyweight producer and snagged the best mixer in the world to help put some thunder in Halestorm. The albums where you don’t want to skip a few songs are pretty rare, even rarer are the ones where you want to hear the songs again. Right then and there.

We are very pleased to welcome Halestorm to the next ROCKLINE and hope you have a few minutes to check them out, because we have a feeling you’re going to hear about them sooner or later and it might as well be sooner.
