SHOW AIRS SUNDAY JULY 19 AT 11PM
Steel Panther will be featured as the arch rivals in a Battle of the Bands on the Z ROCK comedy series that follows three friends leading a double life: by night they’re a hard-partying rock band and by day they’re a kids party band. Z ROCK is (kinda) based on the true story of the band Z02 (brothers Paulie Z and David Z, and lifelong friend Joey Cassata) and gives a satirical look at the dark underbelly of the rock n’ roll dream.
Z ROCK airs Sunday at 11pm EST on IFC with repeats Tuesday at 10pm and Saturday at 7pm! For more information on the show visit www.ifc.com/zrock and for the most up-to-date news on Steel Panther head over to www.SteelPantherRocks.com!
Frontiers Records proudly announces the release of the brand new HOUSE OF LORDS album entitled “Cartesian Dreams” on September 18th in Europe and October 13th in the USA.
Following the 2008’s release of “Come to My Kingdom”, a record equally hailed by critics and fans as one of the highlights of the season, HOUSE OF LORDS carved another masterpiece that sets in stone the legacy of one of the most productive and impressive bands of the scene. “This new CD was truly a labour of love” says singer James Christian. “I was so fortunate to be able to work once again with my writing partner and friend Mark Baker. The last time Mark and I worked together was to write and record “Demons Down”. We have a great chemistry when it comes to writing songs. Jimi Bell once again gave us smoking tracks and Tommy Denander also put his contribution on a few great tracks”.
The songs written for the new cd offer many different flavours. “The band as usual always strives to stay true to its sound but this time around we expanded our horizons a bit without compromising the trademark sound that so many people expect from us”, continues James “ We don’t want to keep making the same record over and over, so this time around you will hear a few things you did not hear on the previous CD’s”.
House of Lords debuted in 1989 with the release of the self-titled album, a record which is still regarded as one of the best Arena Rock releases of the 80’s. The colossal sound, the soaring vocals of James Christian and instrumental capabilities of the band (which featured ex Angel and Giuffria Gregg Giuffria, along with such luminaries as Lanny Cordola, Chuck Wright and Ken Mary), reminiscent of such frontrunners as Whitesnake, Deep Purple and Van Halen, immediately brought the band to the attention of the media and fans.
With their sophomore release entitled “Sahara”, House of Lords gained considerable chart success with their cover version of Blind Faith’s “Can’t Find My Way Home”. After a tour with Nelson in 1991, the group disbanded, eventually coming back with a new lineup (only featuring original members Giuffria and Christian) in 1992 with “Demon’s Down“. With the change of the musical climate, House of Lords went into hibernation, until the original lineup came back together in 2000, releasing of the controversial “Power and the Myth” an album which featured a sound leaning more towards Progressive Hard Rock with 70’s rock influences.
After a short European tour, singer James Christian decided to go back to the trademark Arena Rock sound of House Of Lords, putting together a new line-up with the blessing of founding member Gregg Giuffria, who opted out right before the release of “Power and the Myth”. New members Jimi Bell on guitars, B.J. Zampa on drums and Chris McCarvill on bass supplied a true powerhouse sound to the fifth studio album “World Upside Down”, a record which caused a real stir in the Hard Rock and Melodic Rock scene and was followed up by the equally impressive “Come to My Kingdom”.
The new album “Cartesian Dreams” includes the following songs:
“Cartesian Dreams” is a natural progression for a band that has such a long history and is just what you would expect and even more: superb hooks, majestic atmospheres that bring back the memories of the debut album, monumental guitar riffs and a production to die for. “The one common thread with the band is that we are always on the same page in terms of what want our records to sound like” concludes James. House Of Lords continues to grow with every record and everything in “Cartesian Dreams” shines from the first second to the last!
House of Lords will appear live in Europe with the following dates already finalized and many more in the works.

One of the bands performing at Rock Gone Wild this year, that I am really excited about is Hardcore Superstar. Their 2007 album, “Dreaming In A Casket” is great, and their follow up, “Beg For it” is a great disc as well.
Check out the clips from this awesome Swedish band below. Don’t miss your chance to catch the band perform live in their only scheduled U.S. performance! You can purchase tickets for Rock Gone Wild at this link.
When I found out Halestorm was opening up for a couple of bands that I saw earlier this year, I didn’t think they would be much. I still got to the show on time, because I wanted to check them out. Much to my surprise, the band made me an instant fan with their excellent live set, and they have impressed me more with their new self titled CD.
Lzzy Hale is easily one of the best new female rockers to come around in a long time. Not only can has Hale dished out some powerful vocals on this disc, but she has also added some tasty guitar licks as well.
The first two cuts “It’s Not You”, and “I Get Off” are two very rocking tracks. “It’s Not You” has some cool crunching guitars and is very catchy. Lzzy Hale really cuts loose with the screams on “I Get Off”. Both of these tunes are easily my favorites on this disc.
Not that it is a bad thing, but “Bet U Wish U Had Me Back” reminds me of a Kelly Clarkson song. Maybe that isn’t a fair comparison, but I could see this song having some crossover potential on to the pop/rock radio stations.
“What Were You Thinking” is a crunchy rocker with some cool guitar parts & great vocals (seeing a pattern here yet?). This is another hit worthy tune.
I really couldn’t find a bad song in the bunch on Halestorm. That is a credit to Lzzy Hale’s strong song writing, musicianship and awesome vocals. This band has a lot of talent, and I am sure I will be hearing a lot more from this Pennsylvania four piece in the near future. Give the band a chance, and I think you will be surprised this CD. You can check out some of the songs on this disc on the Halestorm myspace page .

Kick Ass Comeback Album, Wicked Wonderland, Soon to Follow With Lita’s highly anticipated first album in nearly fourteen years set to be unleashed on October 6th, Wicked Wonderland, the queen of metal has been wowing audiences all summer long with live dates – primarily in Europe. But come the fall, the U.S. will receive its first full-on set of live Lita dates. “They’ve been incredible!,” says Lita about the performances thus far. “Everyone has treated us so good. The energy is intense – the audience is a very important part of the show.” While some rockers are surrounded by assistants and hangers-on to take care of their daily duties, Lita has opted to take her home life on the road, where she is joined by her husband, former Nitro singer Jim Gillette, and their two sons, James and Rocco (age twelve and eight, respectively). Just what is at typical day for Lita, Jim, and the kids? “Bad food – it isn’t mom’s – plane rides, airport fun…isn’t security a blast now? Then there was the bomb threats in Sweden, but hey, the bomb sniffing dogs were cute!” Despite the audiences’ unfamiliarity with the Wicked Wonderland material beforehand, it’s been fitting in perfectly amongst all the classics. “There are a few songs that have to be played live, like ‘Close My Eyes,’ ‘Kiss Me Deadly,’ ‘Hungry,’ and ‘Back to the Cave.’ But the new stuff is so much fun to play – it’s so freakin’ heavy! We’re very excited for everyone to hear the new stuff. It rocks hard. We’ve been playing ‘Crave’ and ‘Betrayal’ [off of Wicked Wonderland]. The reaction has been overwhelming. By the second or third chorus, everyone’s singing along.”
And how does it feel for Lita to finally be hitting the concert trail once more? “It’s wonderful. I’ve been blessed in so many ways, and one of them is my fans. They’re so good to me. Some bands have what I call ‘fair weather fans’ – they’re there when there’s a hit, and gone when there isn’t. That’s never been the case for me. My fans have been there through all the good, the bad, and the ugly, and that’s what makes them so great. When we play ‘Close My Eyes’ it’s amazing – the crowd sings so loud I can’t hear them over my guitar! The energy I get from them is incredible. Recording is fun but playing live is the best. It’s always been my favorite part of all this. I’ve been on stage since I was 16 years old – it’s a big part of who I am. It feels like home to me.” Soon, Lita’s rabid stateside fans will get the chance to experience her royal metallic majesty on a concert stage nearby. “Our show is all about forgetting everything and just having fun. There’s enough bad news on TV. If you want to just let it all hang out and rock like there’s no tomorrow – come out to a show.”
