Shinedown Unveil Headline Tour; U.S. Trek Kicks Off September 10th in Baltimore; Platinum Certified “Second Chance” Remains #1 at Hot AC for Eighth Straight Week; Band Set to Appear on “The Today Show”; New Single, “If You Only Knew,” Ships to Multi-Format Radio Outlets Everywhere

Atlantic recording group Shinedown has announced details of its upcoming headline tour. The much-anticipated dates will kick off on September 10th at Baltimore’s Powerplant Live, and then traverse the United States though an October 24th finale at Charlotte, North Carolina’s Uptown Amphitheater (see below itinerary).
The tour carries on the sensational success of Shinedown’s RIAA gold certified third album, “THE SOUND OF MADNESS.” The acclaimed collection is highlighted by the #1 smash, “Second Chance,” currently standing atop the Hot AC airplay ranking for the eighth consecutive week. The Jacksonville, Florida-based quartet’s biggest crossover hit to date, “Second Chance” has also topped the charts at both Active Rock and Mainstream, while reaching the top 5 at CHR/Top 40 outlets nationwide. After dominating the rock charts, the track’s mainstream success has seen the band’s profile raised dramatically — People magazine recently featured the band while Entertainment Weekly highlighted “Second Chance” in its “10 Songs of Summer” playlist by noting, “Every summer needs its shamelessly histrionic big-blast-chorus crossover from the modern-rock charts. Shinedown win this year’s prize.” The band will be performing “Second Chance” on NBC’s “The Today Show,” airing Friday, September 4.
In addition, the RIAA platinum certified single’s companion video has proven equally popular. The clip — directed by Ryan Smith (Eminem, Breaking Benjamin) — is presently in “Heavy” rotation at MTV and MTV Hits, “Elite 8″ rotation at MTV2, and “X-Large” rotation at VH1, where it has gone to #1 on the network’s Top 20 Countdown numerous times.
As if all that weren’t enough, Shinedown’s most recent single, “The Sound of Madness,” continues to ring out at radio outlets across the country. The track currently stands at #2 at Mainstream, Alternative, and Active Rock, where it previously reached the #1 position. With the album’s lead-off single, “Devour,” also going to the top of the charts, Shinedown has earned the distinction of having all three singles from “THE SOUND OF MADNESS” become #1 Active Rock smashes. What’s more, the success of “The Sound Of Madness” marks Shinedown’s tenth consecutive top 10 showing at the format.
The next single from “THE SOUND OF MADNESS” will be “If You Only Knew,” slated to ship to Active Rock, Alternative Rock, and Hot AC radio outlets in late August. A companion video clip is currently in pre-production.
Shinedown — who recently performed “Second Chance” on CBS’ “The Early Show Saturday Edition” and NBC’s “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno” — is currently traveling the country as part of the “Stimulate This!” tour, set to run through late August. The four-band bill — also featuring fellow Atlantic artists Staind and Halestorm, along with Chevelle — was designed to offer hard rock fans maximum value at a minimal price. In a show of solidarity for their fans, Shinedown and their tourmates have worked closely with the concert promoters to create a package of exceptional value for ticket buyers. Through their collective efforts, base ticket prices for “Stimulate This!” remain mostly under $40 each — half the cost of comparable multi-band summer tour packages — with some venues offering lawn seats for less than $10.
Produced by multiple Grammy award winner Rob Cavallo (Kid Rock, Green Day), “THE SOUND OF MADNESS” debuted at #8 on the Billboard 200 upon its release last summer. In addition to enjoying their biggest domestic cross-over success, the album also marks the dynamic hard rock band’s first foray into the international marketplace, where it has been met with incredible enthusiasm, particularly in the UK: “Shinedown deliver monster ballads Bon Jovi would be proud of,” decreed Metal Hammer, “and there’s an angsty crunch that can comfortably kick Disturbed’s arse.” “There’s little doubt that Shinedown are among the most exciting new bands around,” declared Classic Rock, while Kerrang! praised singer Brent Smith as “simply a masterful entertainer and frontman, a star.”
Fueled by the ecstatic popular and critical response, Shinedown recently crossed the Atlantic for a major European tour, including performances at such world famous festivals as England’s Download Festival, Germany’s Rock am Ring and Rock im Park, and the Netherlands’ Pinkpop. Following the tour, Kerrang! again waxed ecstatic: “The Florida quintet receive a headliners welcome for a set that combines pummeling metal riffery with suitable hooky choruses and a sense of showmanship straight out of the Aerosmith/Guns N’ Roses school of rock.”
“THE SOUND OF MADNESS” follows the band’s RIAA platinum certified 2003 debut “LEAVE A WHISPER” and its gold certified 2005 follow-up, “US AND THEM.” Both albums have yielded a staggering seven consecutive top 5 radio hits, including “Fly From the Inside,” “45,” and the chart-topping “Save Me.”
Shinedown is Brent Smith (vocals), Barry Kerch (drums), Zach Myers (guitars), and Eric Bass (bass).
