From Rolling Stone.com:
Bon Jovi told Rolling Stone that they’ll be going “back to rock & roll” on their next album, and today we learned when their return to their roots will go down: Bon Jovi announced today that their next album The Circle will be released on November 10th. First single “We Weren’t Born To Follow” debuted on radio yesterday, featuring an anthemic chorus of “We weren’t born to follow, come on and get up off your knees, when life is a bitter pill to swallow, you got to hold on to what you believe.” Have a listen at the Island Def Jam site.
The Circle follows the band’s platinum-selling, country-tinged LP Lost Highway. “I think what happened is the fact that we made the kind of Nashville-influenced record, and it created this vacuum now for a big rock record from us. There’s a continued evolution,” guitarist Richie Sambora told Rolling Stone. “[The Circle] doesn’t sound like any other previous record. Everybody that we’ve been playing it for has been real turned on by it, and we’re certainly happy with how it turned out.”
The Circle find Bon Jovi reteaming with producer John Shanks, who also worked with the band on 2005’s Have A Nice Day and 2007’s Lost Highway. Sambora also told RS that Bon Jovi would set out on tour to promote the album sometime in the Spring of 2010, promising that the ensuing trek is “going to be a big one.”

Three Days Grace have premiered the album art for Life Starts Now! The album is set to hit stores September 22nd via Jive Records, with the first single off the record titled “Break.” Visit their official page for more information as the band has been blogging throughout their recording process.
“Everest” may be the best release of Swiss rockers Shakra’s career, but shortly after its release the band announced vocalist Mark Fox would be leaving the band due to conflicts with Shakra’s business partners. What a shame because Fox’s vocals on “Everest” are his best performance in the six years he has been with Shakra.
“Ashes To Ashes” gets “Everest” started off, this heavy melodic rocker has a great intro with a tight groove from the rhythm section of Dominik Pfister (bass) and Roger Tanner (drums). Lead guitarist Thom Blunier puts on a great solo as well, very hard not to do the ol’ head bang with this song. “Love & Pain” is up next heavier and slower than “Ashes To Ashes” but just as melodic the band as a whole sounds great on this song but Pfister & Tanner may well be on their way to becoming my favorite rhythm section. “Let Me Lie My Life To You” is one of my favorite tracks on the album, a great melodic rocker with some great sing along verses and choruses guitarists Blunier and Thomas Muster absolutely smoke this song. “the Illusion of Reality” is a slow, moody rocker that picks up at the chorus, I just can’t get over how tight the band sounds on this album. “Why?” is power ballad with a nice acoustic intro and some nice piano pieces throughout kind of sounds like a mix of Gotthard/Scorpions. “the Journey” starts out a slow, thumping rocker that kicks in before the first verse then slows down and speeds up throughout at 4 minutes this song would be awesome but at 8 minutes long I am ready to get to the next track. Blunier pulls of a nice solo but does it really need to be 3 minutes long? As soon as “Regressive Evolution” starts so does the foot tapping great song and Pfister’s bass sounds great as well. “Anybody Out There” is another song I would consider a favorite on “Everest” a mid tempo rocker that sounds like it would get over big in a live setting. “Right Between The Eyes” and “Dirty Money” are solid rockers that should go over well live. “Insanity” has stadium written all over it, another favorite of mine. Blunier once again pulls off a great solo. “Hopeless” is the album closer with some nice piano and strings included but I just never understand it when a band closes an album with a ballad.
The remaining members of Shakra are going to continue without Fox, in fact if you think you’re their man send a demo-song or just an e-mail to firstname.lastname@example.org . Whoever they decide on as the next singer are going to have some big shoes to fill, especially after Fox’s performance on “Everest” . Otherwise you can check out Shakra at http://www.myspace.com/shakrarock or www.shakra.ch.

KISS and Walmart announced today that SONIC BOOM—the bands highly anticipated CD, and its first new material in 11 years—will be sold in the U.S. and Canada exclusively at Walmart and Sams Club retail locations beginning October 6. SONIC BOOM, produced by the bands Paul Stanley in Los Angeles, is the centerpiece of a three-disc set that also features a completely re-recorded greatest hits CD as well as a live DVD shot in Argentina during the bands recent, record-breaking KISS ALIVE 35 South American tour. The CD set will retail for $12, with pre-orders starting in September on Walmart.com.
KISS’ Gene Simmons says, “SONIC BOOM” may be the best new record we’ve done since Destroyer! It is Rock And Roll Over meets Love Gun. The worlds biggest retailer had better get ready for the hottest band in the world and hire more cashiers before October 6th!
Stanley continues, “Through all of the albums that are considered our classics, we tried to always find ways to give our fans extras that went beyond just the music. Besides our making the best KISS album in decades, Walmart has made it possible for us to include a bonus CD with 15 of our most famous songs and an additional live DVD, shot during our recent concert in Buenos Aires. So in every sense, SONIC BOOM is the ultimate return to classic KISS form. You wanted the best, you got the best!”
In celebration of the albums release, KISS announced today a special KISS ALIVE 35 show at Detroit Rock City’s legendary concert venue, Cobo Arena, on September 25. This historic structure, which is slated for closure, has hosted KISS concerts on numerous occasions, not the least of which was the series of shows that were recorded to become the KISS ALIVE! album. Tracks made famous on KISS ALIVE!—including “Rock and Roll All Nite”, “Deuce”, “Black Diamond”, and “Hotter Than Hell”—are well represented on the greatest hits disc included with SONIC BOOM. The Detroit show, which will live another 35 years in KISStory, features opening act Buckcherry and goes on sale to the public at 5 pm EDT on August 21 at Ticketmaster.com.
Walmart, one of Americas largest music retailers, is finalizing its exciting plans now for its in-store and online destinations for KISS fans surrounding the launch of the new album and tour, and will host various KISS products in addition to their music in its stores this fall. More details on Walmart KISS activity, announcements regarding album pre-sales, sweepstakes and KISS appearances will be shared shortly.
U.D.O is back with their twelfth studio album, Dominator. This new disc might just be their best one yet.
While I agree that Udo Dirkschneider’s vocals might be an acquired taste, I have loved his voice ever since his early days with Accept. It is hard for me to believe at 57 years old, Udo can still manage to sing at such a high level. On Dominator, he is on top of his game, and vocals are razor sharp.
There are a couple of songs on Dominator that I didn’t care for. “Heavy Metal Heaven” and “Devil’s Rendezvous” just didn’t do it for me. “Devil’s Rendezvous” is a little more poppy than I would expect from U.D.O. The rest of the disc is pretty damn good.
“The Bogeyman” has a slow intro, that led me to believe that this song would plod along, and be a fairly boring track to start off this CD. That is not the case at all. “The Bogeyman” kicks into gear quickly and instantly got me headbanging and singing “He is the Bogeyman”.
“Dominator” is an absolutely killer title cut. This is one of my favorite metal songs of 2009! The guitars of Kaufmann and Gianola are pretty awesome on this tune.
“Black and White” and “Infected” are two more heavy rocking cuts back to back. I was already familiar with “Infected” from the U.D.O. EP that came out earlier this year. If you didn’t grab that EP, this is your second chance to grab the tune “Infected”. Both “Black and White” and “Infected” are awesome cuts on this disc.
“Doom Ride” is a pretty catchy number that seems to get better with each listen. You will find yourself singing Doooooooooom Ride in no time.
“Stillness of Time” is a mid tempo cut that does a good job breaking up the pace of Dominator. At times, I think this song leans more towards Whitesnake than Accept. This song adds in keyboards with some über cool riffing from Kaufman. About midway through the song has some awesome Spanish guitar, before moving back to the classic style riffing. This song is probably as radio friendly as you will ever hear U.D.O. get, and I am ok with that. This is a great tune!
DO NOT drive while listening to the song “Speed Demon”. You will get a speeding ticket. This high octane rocker will have you putting your foot to the floor. If you foot isn’t slammed down on the accelerator, it will be tapping to keep up with the high speed beats of this tune. This is another great head banger!
“Whispers In The Dark” is one of the slower tunes on this CD, but the music is great. This is a piano based number with a moody feel to it. Udo pulls this one off, and it is a really cool closer for Dominator.
For you U.S. fans, you are going to have to wait until October 6th, to purchase a copy of Dominator, but I think it will be worth the wait! This is a disc will appeal to both Accept and U.D.O. fans. I like it a lot, and I think you will too!
If you can’t wait until October, you can score a copy of the import CD, from CD Inzane at this link.

Europe, Sweden’s biggest selling hard rock band, are pleased to announce the 14th September release of their eighth studio album “Last Look At Eden” – the first studio album since 2006’s critically acclaimed “Secret Society”. The album will be released by Edel Germany’s international rock music label earMUSIC.

To coincide with the band’s headline appearance at the Bloodstock Festival on August 16th (www.bloodstock.uk.com), Europe will release the ‘Last Look at Eden’ 5-track mini album on Monday August 10th, featuring the album’s title track as well as a previously never-before-released live version of the Led Zeppelin classic ‘Since I’ve Been Loving You’.
After shooting to fame in 1986 with the hugely successful single ‘The Final Countdown’, Europe spent the next 10 years touring the world and released two further albums ‘Out of this World’ and ‘Prisoners in Paradise’. After taking a break from the limelight for most of the 1990’s, a break which many fans thought would be the end of the band, Europe got back together for a one-off new year’s eve performance in Stockholm in 1999 and announced their official reunion in 2003 by welcoming back original guitarist and founding member John Norum. Since then, Europe has released two studio albums – ‘Start From The Dark’ (2004) and ‘Secret Society’ (2006).
Now back and stronger than ever before, Europe gear up to release ‘Last Look at Eden’ – a monumental hard rock album packed with undeniably skilled song writing and musicianship. The album features John Norum’s signature guitar tones and proves that Joey Tempest still has one of the most powerful and gifted voices in rock music today.
From the epic title track to the melodic ballad ‘New Love in Town’ this album is on another level, less extreme than previous offering ‘Secret Society’ and with matured sound, ‘Last Look at Eden’ is a mix of all the elements that have made Europe famous the world over.
“This time we’re taking a new direction with out songs, and we’re exploring different styles,” says Tempest. “There is a definite classic rock vibe on several tracks on this album – a tip of the hat to groovin’, funkin’ 70’s rock songs, with a modern twist.”
Adds Tempest – “We’ve got a couple of great ballads, plus some thundering rock tracks that will put you flat on your ass! We’ve taken the best bits from our recent albums and taken it to a new level ‘Last Look at Eden’ is more of a Europe album than ‘Secret Society’ or ‘Start From The Dark’. We had to make those albums in order to do this.”
Nikki Sixx posted the following on his blog yesterday:
adjective ( motlier, motliest)….
incongruously varied in appearance or character; disparate : a motley crew of discontents and zealots.….
1 [usu. in sing. ] an incongruous mixture : a motley of interacting interest groups.….
Motley has always been an interesting animal. The Magic is somewhat unstoppable because it is what it is, it’s Motley.” An incongruous mixture” to quote my digital dictionary. Even when accidents happen, we pull it together, even if only by pulling a horseshoe outta our Motley ass.:)…..
So to get to the point, Yes Tommy messed up his hand pretty bad, and yes accidents do happen and yes frustration does happen to everybody including Tommy who would rather play drums (even with a damaged hand) than just about anything in the whole world. But following doctor’s orders for a few shows is what we have to right now.( or cancel shows ) We all wanna say were sorry Tommy has to sit out a couple shows, But we hope to have him back up on the drums ASAP. Until then, he is at all the shows, jumping around, helping out with vocals and playing piano ever so lightly on Home Sweet Home…..
Now to the hero of the day…Mr. Morgan Rose, the monstrous drummer from Sevendust.Morgan flew out with only minutes to go before there were no flights left from Atlanta. He came charging in like a knight in shining armor, drum pedals and sticks in hand, stepping onstage and pretty much nailing the show top to bottom first time out. I think Morgan needs a Standing ovation for his dedication to kicking ass and helping not only Motley crue out, but the road crew and everybody else out here whose life’s would been effected. …Thank you bro…….
As for now, Motley Crue is a five-piece band… making history, one injury at a time…hahhaha….
Ps.Thank you Viggy for putting this together …………
Cruefest returned to Cincinnati on August 14th. This concert took place on a hot and sunny Friday evening, and as a result the seats and lawn of Riverbend Music Center were packed.
Charm City Devils took the stage early. Their set started at 4:45. I thought this was kind of crappy for the folks that got there at five and didn’t get to see their full set. The Cruefest tickets said start time 5:00 P.M. Those that got there really early saw local band and contest winner Calloused play on the second stage in the PNC Pavillion. I didn’t make it in time to catch their set,and got to Riverbend just as Charm City Devils was starting.
Charm City Devils were pretty good, and their songs sounded just like their CD. Some of the songs played were “Burn Baby Burn”, “Pour Me” and “Lets Rock-N-Roll”. Their set was way too short (only thirty minutes). I ran into John Allen after the set out by the merchandise counter. He is one cool guy. If you check out one new band this year, give Charm City Devils a chance.
Check out “Pour Me” below.
A quick thirty minutes later, Drowning Pool took the stage, and blasted out a cool set of tunes including”Enemy”, “Step Up”, “37 Stitches”, and the crowd pleasing closer, “Bodies”. Drowning Pool brought a lot of energy to the stage, and I enjoyed their short set. I must admit that Drowing Pool is one of the bands at Cruefest I wasn’t very excited about, but I can’t deny that they were one of the better bands at the festival.
Check out “Bodies” below.
I skipped the Theory of a Deadman set, and caught a few minutes of Cavo’s set over on stage two. I saw them perform their new single “Champagne”. The band would like you to call your radio station every day for the rest of your life to request this song. At least this is what Cavo’s lead singer, Casey Walker announced to the audience. I don’t know why, but that struck me as funny.
Back on the main stage, Godsmack performed a tight set including the songs “Voodoo” and “I Stand Alone”. Unfortunately, I missed a lot of their set, but I liked the few songs that I did see. There was a really cool drum solo that had both Shannon Larkin and Sully Ena playing on two separate drum kits. Godsmack had the crowd revved up and ready for Motley Crue.
Motley Crue opened up their show with “Dr. Feelgood”, and their set opened with the band playing in a padded cell. This was a pretty cool opening, but I quickly noticed that Tommy Lee was missing. I wasn’t surprised by this, as a friend told me prior to the show, that Tommy Lee would not be performing with Motley Crue tonight. I was pretty
disappointed by this news, and the visions of Samantha Maloney haunted my mind. Tommy Lee burned his hand and was unable to perform.
The band called in Morgan Rose from Sevendust to fill in for Tommy, and much to my surprise, he didn’t miss a beat. In fact, Morgan Rose was the least of Motley Crue’s problems for this show. It almost seemed as if Mick Mars guitar was out of tune in Dr. Feelgood. His guitar intro, just sounded a little off to me. He got better as the night went on, but Dr. Feelgood was a little rough, to kick things off.
After “Dr. Feelgood”, Vince brought Tommy Lee out to explain the situation why he wasn’t playing. Tommy basically admitted to being a bonehead for burning his had, and was quite thankful for Morgan Rose coming in to save the day.
It wouldn’t be a Motley Crue show if Vince Neil didn’t skip a lyric or two. He has been notorious for this, the last few times I have seen Motley, and tonight was no exception. It sounded like he mumbled his way through “Dr. Feelgood”. (See the clip below.) I was laugh when Vince breaks out his guitar. It seems more like a shoulder ornament, than an instrument when he has it. He definitely doesn’t play it very much. Later in Motley’s set, the band played the song “Wildside”, and the backup singers totally messed the songs up. Vince looked at the crowd in disbelief.
Aside from a few botched lyrics, and miscues, Motley Crue pulled off another great show. This show had everything you would expect including a massive light show, plenty of Pyro, and some great rock and roll to go along with it. Motley played Dr. Feelgood in its entirety, and with the exception of a song or two, I liked seeing these songs played in a live setting.
Motley’s set included: “Dr. Feelgood”, “Slice of Your Pie”, “Rattlesnake Shake”, “Kickstart My Heart”, “Without You”, “Same Ol’ Situation (S.O.S.)”, “Sticky Sweet”, “She Goes Down”, “Don’t Go Away Mad (Just Go Away)”, “Time for a Change”, “Saints of Los Angeles, “Shout at the Devil”, “Wildside”, “Home Sweet Home” and “Girls, Girls Girls”.
Even though Tommy Lee didn’t play the drums, he did his best to make his presence felt with a couple of appearances during the show. The most important of which was his playing the piano of one of the closing songs, “Home Sweet Home”.
Overall, I thought Cruefest 2 was pretty good. Sure there were some bands I would have changed for this festival, but Motley Crue delivered the goods, and they were the reason that I came to Cruefest 2. I enjoyed this night of great rock and good friends at Cruefest 2. I am looking forward to the next one in 2011!
Check out the clips of “Dr. Feelgood”, “Same Ol’ Situation” and “Don’t Go Away Mad” below:

BLACK ‘N BLUE’s long awaited reunion album, “Hell Yeah!”, will not be released in Europe through Z Records in Europe as previously reported. The Label and band both reached a amicable agreement concerning the remuneration for Z’s interests and a deal was signed.during mid July. “There are no hard feelings on the split”, says vocalist, Jaime St. James. “A lot of things have changed with this record since our signing with Z back in 2003. Z originally signed me, and now the record has four original members”. . Z Records head Mark Alger stated “When Jaime approached us re the involvement of the other original members contractually we listened and his suggestions where agreeable. Z has been repaid in full and we wish the band every success” More announcements by the band on the release of “Hell Yeah!” will be forthcoming in the very near future.

What is it about Columbus, OH and the music scene there that keeps us coming back for more? Fresh Blood makes its third trip to Columbus in 2009, this time it is to unleash the five piece known as Razorbliss onto the masses.
Comprised of Randy Razor (vocals), Tommy “T-Bone” Caradonna (Bass/Programming), the twin guitar attack of Mark Nye & Drake Tulloh, and last but not least Matt Mees (Drums) Razorbliss is a modern hard rock band with just enough industrial thrown in to give you one of the most enjoyable ass kickings you will ever receive and leave you begging for more. Imagine if you can Alice Cooper with some Dope thrown in and you can get a picture of what I’m talking about.
Razorbliss recently released their second album “American Gomorrah”, which is the follow-up to their 2006 debut “Comedy of Errors” and one listen to pounding but catchy “The Mark That You Leave” is all it will take to make you a Razorbliss addict, but when you add such tracks as the driving rhythm of “Brand New Creature” or the haunting “Melt” you will find yourself becoming a full blown junkie.
Razorbliss will definitely appeal to fans of such acts as Dope, Marilyn Manson, and even Nine Inch Nails, but the melodic side of the band will appeal to hard rock fans as well. Keep your eyes and ears open because I think you will be hearing big things about Razorbliss in the very near future.
Check out the Razorbliss video clip, “Love Me” below.
Check out the new video”Community Property” from those hair metal comedians, Steel Panther.
