With CRASH LOVE, the forthcoming album from AFI, due out in just twenty days and “Medicate” climbing the radio charts, the band is giving fans a preview of another track off the new record as well as a behind-the-scenes look at the recording process. For the song “I Am Trying Very Hard To Be Here” AFI enlisted the help of their fans for the track’s gang vocals. Staying true to form AFI went to their fans, the backbone of the band, and asked them to submit short videos about themselves for a chance to win a trip to Los Angeles and to sing on one of the songs from CRASH LOVE. Fans heard the call, and they answered and thus the Begin Transmission series was born. Watch as AFI welcomes six fans into the studio to record “I Am Trying Very Hard To Be Here” from CRASH LOVE, in stores September 29.
AFI has also just launched their newly redesigned website, www.AFireInside.net, with gold artwork reflecting the forthcoming release. Fans can now connect with the band via Twitter from the site as well as get the latest news, photos, video, tour dates and more. For even more from AFI fans can also visit www.MySpace.com/AFI and www.facebook.com/AFireInside. Pre-order CRASH LOVE now on iTunes and receive AFI’s latest single, “Medicate.”
JANUS ADDS DATES WITH FRAMING HANLEY AND THE VEER UNION
TO THEIR ONGOING U.S. TOUR
AS THEY PREPARE TO RELEASE
‘RED RIGHT RETURN’ SEPTEMBER 22 ON REALID RECORDS
JANUS hit the road last month to get the buzz started about the September 22 release of their debut album, RED RIGHT RETURN (REALID Records, through Warner Music Group’s Independent Label Group), which will keep them on the road throughout the remainder of 2009. Now comes word that new dates for the Chicago band—with Framing Hanley and The Veer Union–have been added to their itinerary, which will last from October 8 through October 27.
The album’s first single, “Eyesore,” is currently spinning on over 20 Rock radio stations nationwide, including KBPI/Denver, KQRC/Kansas City, WJJO/Madison, KXFX/Santa Rosa and KISW/Seattle, and is most requested on Q101/Chicago, KPNT/St. Louis and WWBN/Flint. A video for the track—directed by Noah Shulman (Sleepless City Productions)–has over a half a million views this summer and can now be seen on the band’s Myspace page (www.myspace.com/janus).
In online news, JANUS has been selected as the “Rock Artist To Watch” on iheartradio.com for the month of September. The band’s page can be found at http://www.iheartradio.com/new2/featured/f/2288.
RED RIGHT RETURN is a collection of ten seamlessly flowing tracks that showcase the band’s ability to bring the Rock world an intelligent fresh sound. JANUS’ debut harkens back to the days when albums were written as a total piece of work, as opposed to a group of single songs. The Chicago natives recorded, produced, created all the themes, digital presence, and artwork on their own. Lyrically, the songs have very strong universal underpinnings to real life experiences. While they tell a particular story, the end result is left open to interpretation and the listener is free to draw their own conclusions.
In an early review of RED RIGHT RETURN, Absolutepunk.net raved: “There are a few bands, given the opportunity, could take the radio by storm. JANUS is a perfect example of this type of band. If they were given the chance, and played on some larger radio stations alongside all of our alternative ‘favorites’ (sound-alikes), they could earn themselves hordes of fans.” The Wildy’s World blog calls it “…a brilliant Rock-based soundscape…” and Blogcritics.org hails it as a “…diamond in the rough.”
Check out JANUS–David Scotney (vocals), Johnny Salazar (percussion), Alan Quitman (bass), Mike Tyranski (guitar/programming)–at any of the following stops:

Miller High Life Beer Presents “Living the High Life” Interview Segments in Each Episode
Special Guests This Season Include: Ratt, Alice Cooper, Sebastian Bach, Chickenfoot Chris Jericho, Rob Halford, Steve Vai, Blackie Lawless, Slayer and many more
VH1 Classic set trends and broke molds two seasons ago when it mixed the best of “The View” with “Headbangers’ Ball” to create “That Metal Show,” an outrageously funny weekly series airing every Saturday at 11PM* that discusses and debates everything in the world of heavy metal. Now, hard rock and metal’s most established talk show returns for a third round with more exclusive interviews and behind the scene footage from the top metal festivals of the year. The season kicks off on VH1 Classic on Saturday, October 3 first with the critically acclaimed documentary, “Anvil! The Story of Anvil” at 9PM* and then the Canadian heavy metal band gives an exclusive interview and performance for the one-hour season premiere with “That Metal Show: Anvil Special” at 11PM*.
Each week hosts Eddie Trunk, Jim Florentine, and Don Jamieson discuss the latest rock news, share stories and argue about their favorite bands. Joined by special guests who weigh in with their opinions and offer their own unique viewpoints, the show caters to some of the most opinionated heavy metal and hard rock fans across the country. This season’s scheduled guests include: Ratt, Alica Cooper, Sebastian Bach, Blackie Lawless, Chickenfoot, WWE’s Chris Jericho, Judas Priest’s Rob Halford, Steve Vai, Slayer and many more.
All this Fall, watch Don, Jim and Eddie as they talk about the latest news in classic hard rock and metal, as well as hit the road to connect with fans and pull some hysterical man-on-the-street pranks. “That Metal Show” is also proudly bringing back your favorite studio segments, like “WHATEVER HAPPENED TO”, our host’s “PICK OF THE WEEK” and, of course, their weekly battle to settle all metal battles and end all debates, once and for all, in “THE THROWDOWN”. This season also introduces interview and man-on-the-street segments sponsored by Miller High Life beer called “Living the High Life” where viewers will get a first-hand look at the guys pulling hysterical pranks on the road and connecting with fans. Whether it’s Eddie kissing Ace Frehley’s VH1 Rock Honors ring or Jim or Don getting into the action on stage, viewers can expect the unexpected.
Fans can catch all of season one and season two online at VH1Classic.com. New episodes will launch online every Monday morning following the show’s on-air premiere. Additionally, fans can also ask a “WHATEVER HAPPENED TO” question to the guys via the VH1 Blog. Select questions may end up on air.
“That Metal Show” is a hilarious 30 minutes of mayhem that fans of Hard Rock and Heavy Metal have grown to love! Past guests have included: Rush, AC/DC, Twisted Sister, Metallica’s Lars Ulrich, Lita Ford, Ace Frehley of KISS, and former baseball star Mike Piazza.
“That Metal Show” is a production of VH1 Classic. Adam Heydt serves as Director with Lee Rolontz and Keshia Williams as Executive Producers for VH1 and Jeff Baumgardner producer for the series.

Frankie Banali Presents L.A. Guns and the Bulletboys along with a special performance by Frankie Banali & Friends – The Led Zep Set paying tribute to legendary Led Zeppelin drummer John Bonham at the Canyon Club on September 25th, 2009!
I am happy to be able to present L.A. Guns and Bulletboys for a night of “old school” rock and roll at the Canyon Club. I’ve been friends with Steve Riley and Phil Lewis of L.A. Guns and Marq Torien of Bulletboys for more years than I can remember.
I am particularly excited about performing a set of Led Zeppelin music with a group of musicians that know how to deliver this music. Joining me for the set will be Chas West (The Jason Bonham Band) on vocals, Mitch Perry (Edgar Winter Group) on guitar, Sean McNabb (Great White) on bass and Edward Harris Roth (Glenn Hughes) on keyboards.
September 25, 2009 will be the 29th Anniversary of the passing of Led Zeppelin’s mighty John Henry Bonham (31 May 1948 – 25 September 1980) and the Led Zep Set will be performed in his memory and dedicated in his honor.
Please come by and enjoy a great evening of music with L.A. Guns, the Bulletboys and Frankie Banali & Friends!
