Aussie rockers Mammal sent out the following message tonight:
Due to long standing personal, political, musical and business differences, Mammal has decided it cannot continue and is no more.
Ezekiel Ox will be releasing the debut album for his folk/rock outfit THE OX AND THE FURY early 2010, as well as continuing to work with super-producer and long time friend Forrester Savell on their new incarnation SMASH NOVA. He will also continue his activist work with Musicians Against Police Violence (MAPV) and Melbourne Copwatch.
Pete, Nick and Zane will continue to work together with a new project scheduled for 2010.
We would like to thank all of our families and friends for all their love and support over these last 4 years. We would also like to give thanks and love to all the great bands we have had the pleasure of sharing the stage with, in particular Cog – a big thank you for giving us our start.
But most importantly we wish to thank the fans for their unbelievably loyal and heartfelt support which gave us the opportunity to play some amazing shows, to release our records and travel the world. We will never forget these times.
Peace, Love and Music.

When I recently found Vamp’s debut CD, The Rich Don’t Rock, I had to buy it. I could only vaguely remember this hair metal act from the late 80’s. I use to own this on cassette ages ago, but I couldn’t recall anything about the music. Judging from the CD cover, I was pretty sure that the music on this disc was going to be pure cheese. My incessant need to find the rarest rock on the planet wasn’t going to stop me from picking this up.
Oddly enough, this band is far better than I expected them to be. Vamp is not a Sunset Strip, Van Halen wanna be. They are a German hard rock act whose musical roots seem to stem deeper than the rock coming out of Los Angeles in the 80’s. Ricolf Cross dishes out some wicked six string work on this CD. I am extremely impressed with his playing. Where is this guy now?
Singer Tom Bellini’s voice takes a little bit to get used to, but it grows on you. He kind of reminds me of a higher pitched Kevin DuBrow. Drummer Dicki Fliszar gets some moments to shine too. He has a pretty cool drum solo in the tune “All Nite”. I thought that was unusual, and cool all at the same time.
The best songs on this CD are “Like I Want” (my personal favorite), “Rich Don’t Rock”, “All Nite” and “Stand By Me”.
Very little information is available on the guys in Vamp. The Rich Don’t Rock is their only CD. Drummer Dicki Fliszar went on to play drums in the band SKIN. The rest of the gents in the band are at large in the musical world. If you know what these guys are up to today, let us know.
Is The Rich Don’t Rock worth picking up? If you can find it, absolutely. This CD has been out of print for a long time and is very hard to find. There are a bunch of quality rockers on this disc, and I am definitely getting a kick out of them. I am glad I rediscovered this band in 2009. Everyone needs a little Vamp before Halloween right?!
You can listen to the song, “Heartbreak, Heartache” and “Renegade” at the band’s myspace page.

A new five-minute trailer for the upcoming documentary on British rock legends SAXON, “Heavy Metal Thunder – The Movie”, can be viewed below.
U.K.’s Coolhead Productions is putting the finishing touches on “Heavy Metal Thunder – The Movie”. The film, which is expected to be released in December, celebrates the group’s 30th anniversary. Produced by the makers of the critically acclaimed “Ian Gillan: Highway Star” (Universal, 2007), it not only has contributions from members of SAXON, past and present, but also from the likes of Lars Ulrich (METALLICA); Lemmy, “Fast” Eddie Clarke, Phil Campbell, Mikkey Dee (MOTÖRHEAD); Harvey Goldsmith, Danko Jones, Doro Pesch and many, many others. It will also feature plenty of rare archive material and previously unseen concert footage, from the classic 1980s lineup to the brilliant St. George’s Day show in 2008 and Wacken Open Air in 2009. A special limited edition of “Heavy Metal Thunder – The Movie” will contain a feature-length documentary, at least two never-before-seen concert films and plenty of revealing extra content.
“It looks good,” singer Biff Byford tells News & Star. “But it has been put back because they have just got a load of new stuff from an interview with an old manager which is quite good. I’m sure I will learn things about me that I did not know…
“I’m looking forward to seeing it,” he says. “I have a right to veto things, but I don’t think I will. I have seen the ANVIL [documentary]; it is funny. I like them, they’re not in my top five bands of all time, but they try hard.”
Once the tour and the DVD launch are out of the way, there’s more work for Biff.
“We’re working on a soundtrack for an American horror film based around snakes, then we start writing a new album in December.”
Meanwhile, he and the family have just moved back to his native Yorkshire after living in Normandy for the past eight years.
“We are renting at the moment, but if you know anyone looking to buy a small chateau in northern France, let me know…” he says.
If you pre-buy a plush special limited edition of “Heavy Metal Thunder – The Movie” containing a feature-length documentary, at least TWO never-seen-before concert films and plenty of revealing extra content, you will get your name on the credits and become an associate producer, allowing you to influence the content of the film by sending your suggestions to the filmmakers. You will also have the chance of winning one of five pairs of VIP passes to next year’s Wacken Open Air festival AND the chance to meet SAXON singer Biff Byford and the rest of the band on their next tour.
“We’re relying on our fans here and I know you’ll do us proud,” said Byford. “SAXON have a great story to tell and some bloody fantastic songs to celebrate. I think you’ll agree it needs to be done properly, so get your orders in now. This will be one of the best rock docs you’ll ever see.”
The special limited edition of “Heavy Metal Thunder – The Movie” will cost £25 (GBP). It will be shipped out as soon as it’s complete.

Dilana’s debut album, Inside Out debuts 11/17 via Kabunk! Records.
Inside Out features Adrian Young (No Doubt) on drums and Mick Mars (Motley Crue) on guitar. This album was produced by Dave Bassett (Sparta, Schuyler Fisk).

Lead single “Holiday” kicks off the album, showcasing Dilana’s commanding voice and rock star presence. Some cool track worth investigating are “Still Wanting” with it’s brooding intro and dark, tasteful cello, and the 7 minute “The Question,” a song that starts with a classic blues-rock acoustic guitar riff and deviates into a hazy, psychedelic meltdown.

Frontiers Records is pleased to announce the release of LOS ANGELES second album entitled “Neverland” on December 4th 2009 in Europe and January 12th 2010 in the USA.
LOS ANGELES debut album revealed to the unsuspecting international Melodic Rock audience, the talents of the awesome Italian singer Michele Luppi. He cut his teeth at the VIT Los Angeles, with Robin Randall (co-writer of hits for FM, Mark Free, James Christian etc) as one of his musical coaches. He teamed up in 2007 with bass player and producer Fabrizio Grossi (Glenn Hughes, From the Inside, Vertigo etc.) to give birth to a project that could make him express his Melodic Rock artistic roots.
Michele’s name became known during the years in the Hard Rock and Metal scene, when he became the singer of the Italian Progressive Metal band Vision Divine, on 3 studio albums and one live DVD. More recently he became the leader and frontman of a new Melodic Metal band named Killing Touch.
LOS ANGELES concept is to tribute the AOR greats that shaped Luppi’s singing and songwriting abilities. Contrary to the first record that relied heavily on external songwriters, this new album sees the songwriting collaboration between Luppi and Grossi blossomed in full, with more contributions from Eric Ragno (China Blue), Joey Sykes (Hugo), Roberto Priori and ex Dokken axeman George Lynch (on “Nowhere to Run”). There is also a stunning new version of Richard Marx’s “Nothing to Hide”: another fitting tribute to one of AOR music giants and two songs offered (“Wait for You” and “Tonight Tonight”) by Tom and James Martin (Khymera, Sunstorm, House of Lords).
Musicians include Tommy Denander, Joey Sykes, Roberto Priori on guitars, Eric Ragno on keyboards, Tony “AJ” Morra on drums and of course Fabrizio Grossi on bass. While Luppi’s astounding vocals can be described as Mark Free meets Eric Martin, LOS ANGELES “Neverland” is a true AOR beauty which is truly a must-buy for all the Melodic Rock fans.
“Neverland” track listing includes:
Conny Bloom, frontman and founding member of the Electric Boys who has also served as guitarist for Hanoi Rocks, will be the special guest October 30-November 5 on Hard Rock Nights, the weekly syndicated radio program.
Bloom will talk with JT about the history of the Electric Boys, their rise to fame and subsequent decline, and the 2009 reformation of the classic funk metal band and their plans for the coming year.
In addition to the chat with Bloom, JT will spin some of the best hard rock from the past four decades.
Hard Rock Nights can be heard on several rock and metal radio stations throughout the week. Click http://hardrocknights.wordpress.com/affiliates for a full list of times and stations.
On one lovely 4th of July in 2007, my husband’s band, Snowblynd, was playing a show at a local bar. Some band from Atlanta that no one had ever heard of was headlining and none of us really cared. When the band showed up, a bunch of long-haired, bearded dudes in good jeans rolled out of the van. My first thought? Wow…these guys look interesting. Then they started rolling all of their gear out of the trailer. My husband’s first thought? Wow…they have good gear; there’s a possibility they could be decent at least. After Snowblynd played, we went outside to hang out. Then all a sudden we heard the headlining band start playing and we stopped what we were doing. We all looked at each other and just hauled ass back inside the bar to see what the hell was going on. The headlining band was blowing our minds and it was Blackberry Smoke. It’s not very often that a band comes out of nowhere and knocks me flat on my ass, but Blackberry Smoke did exactly that and I’ve been hooked ever since. With their sophomore release, Little Piece of Dixie, the Blackberry Smoke boys are out to knock you on your ass too.
Little Piece of Dixie is 11 songs of solid and real southern rock. There’s something very authentic about these guys; they’re not putting on their costumes to pretend to be something they’re not. They are all incredibly talented and serious musicians from the south who have worked their asses off to get to where they are today, and they deserve every ounce of success that is headed their way.
Their chemistry is undeniable. Charlie’s vocals have a unique vintage quality that really stands out, and his guitar is playing is stellar. Paul Jackson’s guitar playing and harmonies are the perfect complement to Charlie. Brit Turner’s drums are always steady and in the pocket all while making it look completely effortless. Richard Turner may be the quiet one in the band, but his bass playing speaks way louder than words. And the recent addition of Brandon Still on the keyboards is the perfect finishing touch to round out their sound. I’m convinced that their long hair, beards and sideburns have super powers that make them sound so incredible.
The album starts off with the first single, “Good One Coming On”, which is about “drinking tequila and skinny dippin'” Charlie would say as he introduces the song at their live shows. It’s a good summertime, have fun with your friends kind of song and was featured in the Kevin Costner movie, Swing Vote. “Good One Coming On” is also the band’s first full length video.
If you’re into video games or Nascar, you may have heard “Up in Smoke” on the Nascar ’08 video game. And if you like things with engines that go fast, then you probably watch the Speed channel and may have heard “Up in Smoke” on an episode of Drag Race High. From the moment you hear Richard’s bass intro, you’ll want to hop in your car and tear down the road like the cops are chasing you. The song just has that get up and go kind of feel.
Just because these guys have a bit of that country twang to them, doesn’t mean they can’t, or don’t, enjoy some of the staples of the rock and roll life. Since they’ve already covered liquor, they had to write a song about…what else but strippers! “Shake Your Magnolia” is probably one of my favorite songs on the album. It’s a sweet little diddy about a guy falling for a stripper, and it does make you want to get up and shake it a little bit for the boys.
These days, it’s extremely rare to find such talented musicians making such amazing music. If you want to hear some really kick ass, genuine southern rock that doesn’t sound like any of that crap you hear on the radio, then pick up Little Piece of Dixie. There’s not a bad song on it. From start to finish, it’s strong and impressive. If you like southern rock, then you’ll love this album. If you don’t like southern rock, then this album will make you change your mind.

Australian rockers AIRBOURNE have set “No Guts, No Glory” as the title of their second album, due on February 23, 2010 via Roadrunner Records. The CD was recorded in Chicago with noted producer Johnny K (DISTURBED, 3 DOORS DOWN, STAIND). The band relocated from its shared home in Warrnambool and moved into K’s spacious studio to record the album.
Frontman Joel O’Keefe says: “Working with Johnny was great; he’s one of the boys. We basically just set up all the gear, chucked a few mics around and went for it! Good times!” Brother and drummer Ryan confirms the precarious microphone placement: “With this album, we threw the mics all over the building, left the doors and windows open and pressed record!”
AIRBOURNE, known for its adrenalized, “work hard, play harder” style of rock, will embark on a two-month European tour in early February that will span two months and kick off with several U.K. dates. The band will commence U.S. touring of major markets beginning in April. They will live on the road through the summer.
“No Guts, No Glory” follows up the band’s 2008-released debut, “Runnin’ Wild”, which went on to sell upwards of 250,000 units worldwide and earned the band heaps of critical accolades.

It is with great excitement that BULLETBOYS announce the return of original member and bassist LONNIE VENCENT! Lonnie’s major contributions lead to the over success of BULLETBOYS from the beginning and there is no doubt that with Lonnie’s charismatic performances and stage prescence BULLETBOYS take it up a notch. Please welcome back Lonnie Vencent!
With half of the original line up now intact it is only fitting that BULLETBOYS also announce the return of guitarist TONY MARCUS. Tony has joined the band to take over guitar duties. Tony, most notable for his current role as a member in XYZ, also plays in Ashes Of Your Enemy. Tony played in Arcade with Stephen Pearcy (RATT) and also Vicious Delite with Stephen Pearcy (RATT) and Mike Duda (WASP). What most may not know is that Tony was the original replacement for Mick Sweda when he departed in the 90’s. “Music is my life, and rejoining Marq + Lonnie is an honor. Let’s Rock!!” – Tony Marcus
“We’ve been in negotiations with Lonnie and Tony to get them back in the band since May 09′ and had hoped to solidify this lineup for the release of 10c Billionaire and the Rockfest tour. Unfortunately, we didn’t make the cutoffs and had to go with what was available to us at the time good or bad.” – Bill Chavis CEO Chavis Records
BULLETBOYS have been rehearsing in L.A. preparing for leg 2 of the Road To Nowhere Tour 09/10. Dates will be released in the next day or so. BULLETBOYS are days away from launching their new .com which will include some new BulletPig merchandise and are also scheduled for a new photoshoot with world renown photographer Mark Weiss. So stay tuned!

To celebrate all things rock ‘n gaming Adelitas Way and Sick Puppies are tag-teaming-up with Hard Rock Hideout to give one lucky fan a chance to win the ultimate prize pack. That’s right, one winner will score an XBOX 360 pro, Smackdown Vs Raw 2010 for the 360 and a copy of Sick Puppies’ new album Tri-Polar as well as Adelitas Way’s self-titled album!
Following the announcement of their forthcoming December 8th album release and the premiere of their new single “Spaceship,” rockers Puddle of Mudd have unveiled the cover to the highly anticipated Volume 4: Songs In The Key Of Love & Hate. Volume 4 delivers the same savvy lyrics that fans have come to expect since the band’s multi-platinum debut, Come Clean, weaving subtle innuendo and not-so-subtle lyrical wordplay around vocal hooks so thick they even seem to make life’s more sour realities easier to swallow.
“Spaceship,” the Brian Howes- (Hinder, and most recent POM album Famous) produced lead single off the new album, is now available for purchase at digital retailers. Visit PuddleOfMudd.com for more information including new tour dates and grab the track on iTunes today.
All The Way is an eight song e.p. from Swedish glam band Pretty Wild made up of Ivan Höglund (Vocals), Krizzy Field (Guitar), Kim Chevelle (Bass), and Johnny Benson (Drums). The bad news about “All The Way” is there are only six original songs on the album with the other two songs being an alternate version of “Let The Good Times Roll” and a live version of “Dangerous”. The good news is if you are a fan of the Sunset Strip’s 80’s heyday then Pretty Wild is the band for you, with a sound that reminds me of early Motley Crue mixed with Pretty Boy Floyd.
The title track kicks off this disc and it is a catchy rockin’ little tune with some good background vocals, great hooks, and a nice solo from Krizzy Fields. “Time” is another catchy straight up rocker with some nice hooks and melodies, a cool solo from Fields and the rhythm section of Chevelle and Benson play their asses off on this song. “Let The Good Times Roll” is a mid tempo rocker with a touch of acoustic guitar that is probably the best song on All The Way. “Shockin’ Teen” is a straight up rocker where Höglund gets to show off the power of his voice and Fields has another flashy solo. “Dangerous” keeps with the rest of “All The Way” as a catchy rocker with nice background vocals and a solo. “Take It Off” is my second favorite song on this album. Höglund’s vocals sounds great on this song, the song is catchy and sing along with some great background vocals as well.
While I am a little dissappointed that All The Way is so short, it ‘s a solid album with some good songs that definitely give Pretty Wild something to build a full album off of and I will definitely be looking forward to that release. For more information on Pretty Wild, check them out on myspace at www.myspace.com/prettywildrocks.

Frontiers Records is pleased to announce the release of SPIN GALLERY’s new album “Embrace” on December 4th 2009 in Europe and January 12th 2010 in the USA.
The concept behind the band started in 1997, when main songwriter, producer and musician for the project Tommy Denander together, with singer and co-writer Kristoffer Lagerström made a few demos, which included the song “Grace” that first was released on Tommy’s Radioactive album “Ceremony Of Innocence” and later re-recorded for the Spin Gallery debut.
From that song Tommy started to develop ad idea to build up a band with multiple singers with a sound that could mix Melodic Rock in the vein of Mr Mister, Toto and Giant with a more modern high tech sound and that would include more contemporary influences from Peter Gabriel, Sting and Pink Floyd.
The first album entitled “Standing Tall” was released in 2004 and got some amazing responses, with legendary Kerrang Magazine Dave Reynolds saying “The best I’ve heard in ten years…”. It also featured a few big name guests like David Foster, Michael Thompson and Randy Goodrum. For the new album the original members Kristoffer Lagerström and Tommy Denander again wanted to invite just a couple of friends… 2 legendary voices sing duet with Kristoffer on the new album:Dan Reed on the song “You Do The Things You Do” and Robin Beck on the radio friendly “Just A Momentary Why“. “Embrace” also features the great L.A. session master Glen Marks on drums and Swedish sensation Marika Willstedt on cello.
Kristoffer and Tommy spent 18 months working on this album to ensure that every song is a smash and that “Embrace” lives up to the praise of the first release as well as standing the test of time with a masterful craft in songwriting, performance and production. Tommy Denander says “I hold this as the best production I’ve done so far and we really took every tiny little piece of the album and worked on it until we were totally satisfied, Kristoffer does an amazing job on the vocals and we had a fantastic, inspired and very creative time making it“, while Kristoffer adds: “This is the album I’ve always wanted to make and it came out even better than I could imagine when we started this journey”
Tommy produced the album and plays guitars, bass, keyboards and loops/FX with Kristoffer handling all vocals.
“Embrace” tracklisting includes: Embrace; Stone By Stone; Just a Momentary Why (feat. Robin Beck); Brilliance of the Drugs; Eyes Wide Open; Blood In My Veins; You Do The Things You Do (feat. Dan Reed); Indulge; Without Love; Tic Toc; Everything Fades; The End.

It is hard to believe that is has already been 22 years since the classic movie, Nightmare on Elm Street 3, Dream Warriors. Check out the clip of Dokken’s music video “Dream Warriors”.
It has been two and half years since W.A.S.P.’s kick ass album, Dominator. I truly enjoyed the last disc, so I was anxiously awaiting to see what the band could offer on their latest opus, Babylon.
I was immediately disappointed to find that there are two cover songs on this CD, Deep Purple’s “Burn” and Chuck Berry’s “Promised Land”. W.A.S.P. is no stranger when it comes to cover tunes. They have done plenty in their career. I guess I was hoping for more original material this time around.
Lucky for me, the new W.A.S.P. material is very kick ass stuff. Blackie’s vocals haven’t changed much over the years. He sounds great on Babylon. In fact, the classic W.A.S.P. sound is still in tact with thanks to Doug Blair. He seems to have carried on, where he left off with Dominator. I believe his playing is even better on this album.
As soon as I heard “Crazy”, I knew that Babylon was going to be another solid release. This song quickly establishes that W.A.S.P. is still firing on all cylinders. This is a great way to start of this CD.
“Live to Die Another Day” is easily my favorite song on Babylon. Blackie Lawless sings his ass off, and the music is great too. Check it out in the sample below!
The galloping guitars of “Babylon’s Burning” immediately brings Iron Maiden to mind. This is another stadium anthem type of rocker, that could easily become another W.A.S.P. classic.
“Burn” is one of these songs that to me, does not need to be covered. It is such an awesome tune, I doubt too many bands could truly do it justice. Much to my surprise, W.A.S.P. knocked it out of the park. They did nothing to make it their own, but hearing Blackie’s voice on this tune was kind of cool. This is a faithful replica of the Deep Purple classic.
The band slows the pace down with the tune “Into the Fire”. This is a mid-tempo number that absolutely rips. Blair’s guitar solos on this tune are awesome! What a song!
It has been a long time since I have heard the Chuck Berry tune “Promised Land”, and I must admit that the W.A.S.P. version didn’t do much for me. I guess some songs work better as metal tunes than others, and although it isn’t bad, it just doesn’t live up to the original.
Overall, I am very pleased with Babylon. Blackie Lawless and company has cranked out another great CD. Long time W.A.S.P. fans will want to pick this one up! Babylon will be released October 27th, 2009. You can grab a copy of the CD, at this link.

Oliva is currently in Iowa to assist in programming the TSO light show… is there anything this guy can’t do??
JO has completed vocal tracking on a few songs with many additional trial runs now on tape. When he returns next week, he will finalize all his lead tracks and then we head on into massive, massive back-up singing…Oliva just never knows when to leave a good thing alone…hehe!
It is once again awe-inspiring to witness pure genious and power when it come to JO’s vocal tracks and his songwriting. Part of the staple JOP sound has become his ability to change characters and voices at will and to create incredibly interesting, thought provoking, passionate and down-right insane vocal melodies. Tom Morris and I have been pushing him to the edge (as JO requested), and we have met that challenge with great enthusiasm and also a bit of joy watching him suffer…. .
Oliva’s tenancious attitude, drive and full desire to do the best he can is only partially over-shadowed by the seemingly impossible task of singing songs that would require most of us to swallow mass consumptions of razor-blades in order to deliver what would be considered as torture to any metal music lover….We are all stoked to say the least, and proud of his commitment to giving all of you…all he has!
Laporte and McDine will finish things up this week. The string sections are almost complete as well. Matt, Kevin, myself, Oliva and guest singer Todd Latorre (Crimson Glory) will dive into back up singing next week.
From there it’s final reviews and begin mixing in early November. We will deliver the record on-time to AFM for our 2010 release.
Special thanks to Howard Helm, who has once again stepped in to lay down his amazing piano and keyboard tracks. Howard also played on Global Warning.
Also appearing on this CD will be the great Casey Grillo (supreme drummer of KAMELOT and an all around great guy). I am priviledged to call him my friend and welcome his contributions to the record. Casey will be helping to fill our need for a war-time drum corp section for the song “Death Rides a Black Horse”. Thank you Casey!
We once again thank you for the great support and pure enthusiasm for the next CD. So far, so good….we are all very happy with our progress
