yeah rock out GR and who are those other goons anyway
In Japan, after CDs are about a year old you can rent them for ¥190 (about US$2) like DVD movies…I’ll probably rent “Chinese Democracy” when the rental shops get it.
I saw Guns ‘N Roses at the Tokyo Dome about 18 years ago! (I can’t believe it’s already been that long!)
It was a good show…but started hours late because Axl showed up at the Dome so late!
Anyways, I haven’t heard “Chinese Democracy“. Honestly, I didn’t have high hopes for it…so I didn’t buy it.
But the reviews of it that I saw said that it’s great! So, I was considering buying it…but you don’t think it’s good?
From an Appetite For Destruction frame of mind, you might not like it. The average GNR fan didn’t care for it very much. If you can honestly listen to the CD with an open mind, you may enjoy it. The musicianship is really good, but it doesn’t sound much like the GNR of old.
This is hardly a “GNR” tour. Just like Dave Lee Roth with generic members isn’t Van Halen. (Bad example, I suppose, I -would- go see DLR sing VH tunes with a generic band, but I digress).
Axl is a weirdo, and hasn’t been relevant since Appetite. And I don’t think I’d shell out $50 knowing the odds are good that he won’t show. Thanks, but I’ll pass.
And yes, the album does suck. Why? Well, I don’t know completely since I don’t own the album, but the cuts I’ve heard have been, uh, forgettable. Like Axl.
Really? Axl is forgettable? Also, I hate the term “relevant” when discussing music…or anything for that matter. It is such a hipster word. Basically, you’re trying to say it is out-dated. Well, that isn’t necessarily bad. Just because it isn’t inline with what music sounds like today, doesn’t mean it isn’t worthwhile. I’ll agree that Chinese Democracy isn’t a very good album. It is overblown and you can often hear Axl sitting in the studio saying, “No, no…add ____ here. And make that 4 minutes instead of 2 minutes.”
Regardless, it would be amazing to see Axl live. I’m only 23, so I’ve never had the chance. At this point, I’ll take what I can get….assuming he actually shows and the tour happens, of course.
I wonder if they’ll play some of the unreleased Democracy material…
Who would chance going to see then?…No one cares…Axle and G&R are irrelevant…Plus the album sucks!!!
Can you be a little more specific? WHY does the album suck?
Not January. They play the Tokyo Dome on 2009 December 19.
