Turkey Video # 5 – Twisted Sister – Leader of the Pack

Some might consider the videos at HRH this week, songs that killed hair metal.  To this listener, the songs are just plain bad, and even worse, the record companies spent money on videos.  You can baste them all you want, but nothing will make these turkeys any better.

The first turkey video is Twisted Sister’s “Leader of the Pack” from the not so classic album, Come Out and Play. Why on earth did Atlantic Records green light this video?  The world may never know.  The only good thing about this video, is Bobcat Goldthwait. The rest is terrible.  See for yourself below!

  1. HAHAHHAHA… well, while not the best song on the album, it’s better than most of the shit played on rock radio today. Twisted Sister have a pretty good sense of humor; as you would have too to cover this song. You either get it or you don’t. Come Out And Play is a great album, and the video for “Be Cruel To Your School” brought Alice Cooper back into the spotlight. How can it not be considered a classic album?

  2. HI Rob. I remember a couple years ago when you busted on this video as well. :) Yes, it is a pile of crap, but I hope you don’t mind me giving a bit of a back story again as I did back then. Twisted Sister had been doing Leader of the Pack live since probably about 1980. In fact, there is a version of it on their first EP called Rough Cuts. the way they did it live, and the way it is done on Rough Cuts, exploits the irony of five big tough dudes from Long Island doing a girl group song. A lot of this was played down on the version on Come Out and Play, which just makes the whole thing fall flat. I swear, it was cool when they did it back in the days before they were MTV darlings.
