Virtuoso guitarist Blues Saraceno will be the special guest on the next edition of Hard Rock Nights, December 11-17. Saraceno joins JT to chat about his solo releases as a teenager 20 years ago, playing with Poison and Transmission OK, and his current television projects.
Saraceno joined Poison after Richie Kotzen’s departure and played lead guitar on the “Crack A Smile” record, which the record company shelved for several years due to a changing musical landscape. His solo albums, starting with the debut “Don’t Look Back,” have become cult classics among guitar players. Saraceno is currently active in scoring for television and wrote the theme song for USA Network’s “The Dead Zone” since the fourth season of the show.

Upon hearing the opening bass riff of Destiny Calls lead track “Broken”, you just know that something grand is about to happen. Hailing from Sweden with their third release, Destiny Calls finds Naughty Boys hitting their groove and stride as part of the Swedish heavy metal movement. Capturing the sound and power that seems to be steamrolling out of Sweden, Naughty Boys have caught our attention with Destiny Calls.
Rock and roll in the vein of Europe, Dokken, and a slew of 80s keyboard driven metal, Destiny Calls is an ear pleasing album bound to please any fan of slick, pop metal. The guitar work of Hans Olsson makes me feel like I’m in high school all over again, with power chords intertwined with beautiful, layered solos that surround the songs like silk. Guitar solos aren’t the only key features on this album though. Morgan Valentin is allowed to shine on more than a few tracks with glossy piano/keyboard solos that add depth and glam to the music.
Mikael Sandvik is a rocking singer who keeps his range in the lower end of the spectrum until it comes time for a rock scream. That’s when Sandvik steps it up and delivers the wailing vocals that are required of any hard rock singer worth his weight in metal. “Endless Pain” opens with a rock scream that calls out to the glory days of nostalgic heavy music. The song continues in that direction with the sound and feel of glam metal at its finest.
“Broken” is a solid lead track with a heavy opening bass line groove that riffs into an exciting guitar solo and showcases Sandvik’s lower key vocals. Visiting typical themes of being beaten down with feelings of failure, “Broken” shows how to overcome the odds and rise above it all, even when feeling at your worst. Blending into the background, yet standing out when focused upon, are Valentin’s keyboards. They add a nice touch to this song, completing it with a full sound that makes it a stand out track.
The double shot of ballads in the form of “Eternity” followed by “Fly With The Angels” was a nice combination that you don’t see much of anymore. Back to back ballads are very rare, but on Destiny Calls, it helps to raise the album to the next level.
“Eternity” is an ode to a lover, locked in an endless embrace and wanting nothing more than to be by her side forever. This is the weaker of the ballads on the album, not because the song is weak, which it isn’t, but because the lyrics are not as fresh and innovative as the rest of Destiny Calls. “Eternity” is rife with overstated used lines that are uncommon on the rest of the album. The guitar solo is incredible and overall the song is a great one, it’s just that the commoner lyrics stop it from being an absolutely killer song.
“Fly With The Angels” is the best song on the disc. Upon hearing it for the first time, my entire world stopped as I focused in on every lyric, every piano note, and every guitar lick. This is an amazing song that is bound to help Naughty Boys break through from the “sort of known” into the mainstream. Opening with a rip rocking guitar introduction, this is a ballad with power. The song starts with Sandvik singing softly for the first verse before the chorus kicks in with a heavy dose of rock vocal power that demands your attention. “Fly With The Angels” will certainly be played over and over again, possibly before you are even able to get to the end of the disc.
With themes of lost love and heartache, overcoming hard times, and giving your best to rise to stardom, Destiny Calls could be rife with clichés, but that’s what makes the album stand out. It’s not filled with typical overwritten lyrics and rhymes. Naughty Boys have found a way to put a new spin on old standards. While the songs center on the saturated metal material that has been done time and time again, the lyrics are fresh, and the delivery is bold. Naughty Boys have proven that they stand above the rest of the crowd and brought their perfect example of why in the form of their latest record. Destiny Calls is worth your time and money. This is a CD that you should spend some quality time with. It’s 80s metal for the 2010s and an amazing collection of incredible songs.

It’s been five years since the metal world was changed forever. Five years since we sat in stunned silence at the tragedy that befell one of the greatest metal guitarists of our time. On December 8, 2004, Dimebag Darrell and three others were abruptly and brutally taken from us. It’s a moment I will NEVER forget.
As I sat on the couch with my boyfriend (who is now my husband) watching TV, the phone rang around 11pm. It was strange that anyone was calling this late. My boyfriend answered and it was his mother in total hysterics trying to figure out if we were OK. I saw the look on his face change immediately as he grabbed the remote and changed the channel to the local news. Looking at the TV I thought, “Hey, why is the Alrosa on TV?” Then the little details started coming and my jaw dropped to the floor. The Alrosa is five minutes from our house. My husband grew up there (literally). We go to shows there all the time. Our friends’ bands play there. We were supposed to be there that night. What the fuck just happened at our bar?
At that time, there were no confirmed details about who was dead. We just knew there was a shooting and people were dead. Witnesses were giving their tear filled accounts to the press and my heart just sank. I just kept thinking to myself, “Don’t let it be Dimebag. Don’t let it be Dimebag…” But the next morning, my worst fears were confirmed.
As I drove to work, I listened to Vulgar Display of Power, cried and hit my steering wheel over and over and over again. Throughout the course of the day, I found out that we had friends there who were on the stage when it happened…who witnessed it all. One of the guys who died, Erin Halk, was a good friend of one my friends. Eventually it hit me that we were actually supposed to be at that show but for whatever reason, we didn’t make it. We were a couple of the lucky ones who missed this carnage, but the effects of this on our lives were like we were right there in the thick of it.
Pantera was one of those bands that changed my life. I saw them on the Cowboys from Hell tour opening up for Skid Row. Then I saw them live twice a year for the next few years. They are one of my all time favorite bands. To have one of the members brutally killed and taken from us WAY too early at a venue that I frequent on a regular basis by a mentally unstable asshole who deserved his ending, was devasting for me and for the metal community. It’s a piece of music history that didn’t need to be written.
On this day, let’s celebrate Dimebag, his life and his music. His guitar playing and his music changed the face of metal and changed lives. Let’s celebrate the lives of the others who died in this tragedy: Jeff Thompson, Nathan Bray and Erin Halk. And let’s thank Officer James Niggemeyer for putting an end to this before it got any worse.
Five years later…and it still hurts like a fresh wound. R.I.P Dimebag. We miss you.

In an interview with HRH this past August Big Cock guitarist Dave Henzerling mentioned a new unnamed project he was working on with former Icon vocalist Scott Hammons with a late 70-early 80’s feel to it, what Mr. Henzerling failed to mention in our interview is that the music from this project is the best and most enjoyable 29 minute ass whipping you will ever get.
Now some 4 months later it’s time for that project now called Tunnel to be let loose on the masses. If you are expecting Big Cock Version 2 you may be sadly disappointed, Tunnel is a whole new animal with a great 70’s vibe and surprisingly a little Lynch Mob vibe to it as well, courtesy of vocalist Scott Hammons, who’s bluesy raspy voice sounds like a mix of Robert Mason and Oni Logan, former and present Lynch Mob vocalists. If you haven’t heard Hammons singing before you are in for quite a surprise. With a little help from drummer Ryan Hoyle, background singer Marc LaFrance, and Steve Ouimette, Henzerling and Hammons have put together a great straight-up in your face hard rock project that leave you wanting more. Even though it has been released here in late November the music on Tunnel’s self-titled debut is the kind that needs to be played at maximum volume as you are roaring down the road with the top down.
If I had to describe this album in two words, groove-laden, are the words I would choose. Every song on this album is loaded with groove, but none more so than the opening track “Sound of Thunder” and it is a great introduction to what Tunnel have in store for us on this release. A groove laden, in your face, foot stomping good time is what “Sound of Thunder” is. Dave Henzerling has a very cool intro and solo on this song and he shows you can be a great guitarist without having to pull off a ego feeding flashy prolonged solo. The band’s debut single “Blood On The Highway” is next and simply put it’s the kind of song that once it is in your head it is impossible to get it out. From the opening chants to the very cool bass lines laid down here the playing on this anthem sounds like it is being played by a seasoned band that has been playing and touring together for years. “Open Up For Me” is a dirty little rocker and the first of two songs with a heavy Lynch Mob influence. Scott Hammons has sounded good on this album so far but he sounds great on this song. Amazing he can get so much feeling and emotion into this song despite it only being 2 1/2 minutes long.
After hearing the first 3 songs on this album I was definitely not expecting a song like “Into The Sun”, Wow!! Spanish flavored guitar, strings, woodwinds, horns, and yet it still manages to rock as well. While I wouldn’t call this epic a ballad, it is without a doubt a love song about someone very special to Henzerling. “American Metal” is a straight up rocker that gets us back in line foot stomping, hand clapping and roaring down the highway again. “In Your Groove” is the second Lynch Mob sounding song I was talking about earlier and it absolutely smokes, great song. The guys slow it down again and take a little Led Zeppelin approach with “the Balcony” another very cool song. Seven songs from Tunnel so far, seven extremely good songs, but they definitely saved the best for last in my opinion with “Garden of Your Earthly Delights” a bluesy dirty rocker with a great sing along chorus and a fantastic jam by Henzerling to close out the song.
If you like bluesy groove filled songs with sing along choruses and great playing, you can’t go wrong by picking up Tunnel’s debut. If I had one thing to say to Scott and Dave it would simply be I need more, 8 songs just isn’t enough Tunnel.
Digital downloads of Tunnel can be purchased at LaLa.com along with I-Tunes, Amazon, Rhapsody, & Napster. C.D.’s can be purchased straight from the band at www.tunnelonline.net or CDBaby.com You can also preview songs at their myspace. The one thing you do not want to do is miss out on this album.

Frontiers Records is excited to announce the release of WIG WAM’s new album “Non Stop Rock and Roll” on January 29th in Europe (excluding Norway) and February 9th in the USA.
The Norwegian Glam Kings are finally back in the ring with their brand new album. Aptly titled “Non Stop Rock And Roll”, this new record shows all the elements that made up the monster reputation these guys are internationally known for: driving energy, unstoppable force and neverending fun !
“Non Stop Rock And Roll” is easily the band’s most complete album to date that offers 12 fresh sounding, breathtaking songs, that wears the guitars on it’s sleeves, still showing a more mature and less cheesy band.
The catchy hooklines and melodic Hard Rock anthems that WIG WAM are known for are still very much present, yet the feel of this album brings you right in front of the Marshall amps. Blowing your speakers with full blown Rock’n Roll this album is a Hard Rocking musical journey from the catchy opening track and first single “Do Ya Wanna Taste It” to the electrifying riff of “Walls Come Down”, from the Glam Rock happy going sing along anthem “C’mon Everybody” to the fast and furious title track. And hey, the boys also have the ability to set your girlfriend’s heart on fire with a couple of unique ballads for the ride. With three gifted songwriters – singer Glam, guitarist Teeny, bassist Flash – in the camp plus the rhythm machine drummer Sporty, “Non Stop Rock And Roll” shines, tweaks and pounds a full blooded rock’n roll album ought to.
Tracklisting: Do Ya Wanna Taste It; Walls Come Down; Wild One; C’mon Everybody; Man In the Moon; Still I’m Burning; All You Wanted; Non Stop Rock And Roll; From Here; Rocket Through My Heart; Chasing Rainbows; Gotta Get It On (*). (*) Bonus track for Europe & USA only available in the first edition in digipak
WIG WAM is finally ready to take you to the ultimate rock trip, and bring their wild live performances on the road in 2010.
Soundtracks are pretty standard fare with movies, but a soundtrack to a book…that is a new one on me. Delany’s “Blaze & Ashes” is pretty much that, a concept album based on Wolfgang Hohlbein’s continuation of his successful fantasy novels “Chronicle of the Immortal”. Unfortunately, as I was trying to do my research about this series I couldn’t find anything at all about it online, although: I eventually learned that only a few of Wolfgang Hohlbein’s books have been translated into English at all. But even without knowing anything about the characters being portrayed on this album it is still a very interesting listen. There are three primary vocalists on this album each singing for a different character David Readman (Pink Cream 69, Voodoo Circle), Davy Vain (Vain), and Lana Lane (Roswell Six). They are assisted by a cast of well known and respected musicians such as Volker Leson (Wizard), Tortsi Spoof (Leverage), Jamie Scott (Vain), keyboardist Erik Norlander, and drummer Tommy Rickard along with producer extraordinaire Dennis Ward behind the controls. In spite of having such a huge cast of players “Blaze & Ashes” comes across as the work of a well seasoned band with years of playing together behind them.
Judging from the song list David Readman seems to be singing as the main character in the story and the majority his songs are easily the best on the album. Starting out with the opener “Blood & Ashes”, which is a heavy but melodic and haunting song with some superb keyboards by Norlander. Shocked would be an understatement to my reaction of Davy Vain’s “Here Comes Lonely” as I was expecting his work to sound more like they do on his own band’s releases’ and while his voice is very distinctive it the music and the way the song is sang that shocked me the most slow brooding rocker, but the end results are an extremely good song. Lana Lane is a singer I was not familiar with at all, but after hearing her work on this album, especially on her first track “Love Tears” I am now a fan, imagine Ann Wilson singing to some orchestrated goth influenced rock and hopefully you can get the picture. David Readman is back for “Incarnation” and while I wasn’t as impressed with this song as his first one it is still a decent song and he more than makes up for it on the next track “Web Over London” catchy sing along, but with heavy chugging bass and more melodic keyboards from Erik Norlander. Davy Vain’s “Distance of Love” reminds me a lot of Gene Loves Jezebel, not the greatest song on the album but not the worst either
Other noteworthy tracks include Vain’s “Planets Turning”, Lana Lane’s “Shadow on Your Heart” and the phenomenal “Dead Undead” with David Readman back on vocals. If I had been more familiar with the novels of “Chronicle of the Immortal” I think I would have enjoyed “Blaze & Ashes” even more, but even as a stand alone it is still a very worthy album.

Slash posted the following on his blog on Wednesday:
Hey, what’s happening? I had planned on posting this sooner, but the holiday came & I got sidetracked. Anyway, I hope everybody had a great Thanksgiving regardless. The fundraiser at the Avalon was a complete success, the concert raised 170k for LA Youth Network & made it possible for them to keep open their doors. If you were there thank you so much for your support. The gig itself was awesome, all the guests that appeared brought their A game, made a tremendous effort & really made it a special event. There were some fantastic moments up there that night for sure. I want to thank Ozzy, Perry Farrell, Billy Idol, Chester Bennington, Andrew Stockdale, Travis Barker, Dave Navarro, Steve Adler, Duff McKagan, Franky Perez, Chris Chaney & George Lopez for their selfless contributions. I want to thank the amazing crew who made the whole thing come off without a hitch & did it for little to nothing. And, everybody who donated generously to the cause. I also want to thank KLOS, The Huffington Post, the LA Times, the LA Weekly & Fox Sports News for their time & effort in helping to advertise & help make this a sellout Rock & Roll show, the likes of which could never be duplicated.
My solo record is about to go into mastering, it sounds really good already, but that’s the final step in the recording process & then it is finished. There is a lot of really cool plans being made for the release of this album, its going to be a blast.
I have a new “Slash Model” Les Paul in the works, I just saw & played the 1st prototype, its killer. There is also a Marshall 100w amp being developed that I’m helping design that shouldn’t be too far off as well. More news on both those items as it develops.
I’m also playing a few songs at the KLOS Christmas Party Dec 16th at the Nokia Theater along with Steve Lukather, Jason Bonham & a host of others which promises to be a good time I’m sure.
That’s about it, talk to you soon. Iiii|; ),

THE MURDER OF MY SWEET highly anticipated debut album “Divanity” will see the light of day on January 29th in Europe and February 9th in the USA on Frontiers Records.
THE MURDER OF MY SWEET is an exciting new band formed in early 2007, when drummer/producer and songwriter Daniel Flores met the awesome singer Angelica Rylin. “There was a rumour that Angelica was the finest vocalist in Stockholm and I wanted to see if that was true” tells Daniel “To my amazement she was!”. Daniel had already a line-up formed by Daniel Palmqvist on guitars, Johan Niemann on bass and Andreas Lindahl on keyboards, so the next step after Angelica joined the guys was to start writing songs. “Angelica’s voice needed another sort of songs than what we had on the table” continues Daniel “So we wrote more than 25 songs with 12 of them that will end up being on the album”.
As band names go – perhaps there’s never been a more fitting, so apropos than THE MURDER OF MY SWEET – a monicker inspired by the 1944 movie “Murder, My Sweet. “We love all Film Noir movie styles (specially the old ones) and we wanted to combine that with our rock music” explains Angelica. THE MURDER OF MY SWEET’s aim is to create a distorted film noir vibe and experience – put the wonder, sadness, humour and sheer zest of life into their music tour de force. The band offers a rich and cinematic musical landscape covering a wide spectrum of the Rock genre and reflecting the diversity of the five members own musical experiences.
The material selected for the band’s debut album “Divanity” (a title describing a personal interpretation of diva, divine and vanity – all of them being essential ingredients in the record) includes all: from dark subject matters to pure fiction. “Kiss of Death” takes a glimpse into the state of love where you give up your self for the desire to have or to do something that you know you should avoid, while “Bleed Me Dry” describes the feeling of being different and wanting to go your own way in life. ”Follow The Rain” is all about breaking a pattern from where you make the same mistakes over and over again into becoming a person with control of your life, “Storms Of The Sea” is a beautiful tale of a young woman on her quest around the world to seek her long lost lover and “No Evil” is the band’s encouragement to embrace the dark rather than being afraid of it.
The grand finale of the album is the larger than life – described by Rylin and Flores as THE MURDER OF MY SWEET’s own “Bohemian Rhapsody” – track called “Death Of A Movie Star”. A massive piece of music showcasing THE MURDER OF MY SWEET’s dynamics with a sense of playfulness by switching from soft, rippling sounds and beats to limitless rage with beautiful melodies!
The first single off “Divanity”, “Bleed Me Dry” was launched last November 13th on the Swedish markets, and entered the national charts at position No. 14 (highest new entry of the week). The song was also on No. 2 on the singles download charts. This brought the fever for the new album’s release to a very high temperature notwithstanding the cold Scandinavian winter! “I was truly excited and happy to see that our music gained some good impact and that there is already a lot of music fans aware of The Murder Of My Sweet” says Angelica, “It was such a great, happy moment to hear that our debut single actually made the top 20 in the Swedish single chart – A BIG thanks to all the fans who bought our single. Me and the guys are so thrilled with the attention and great early feedback were getting from media, press and radio and were looking forward to an exciting and big adventure to start in 2010. “
“Divanity” tracklisting includes
First edition limited pressing in digipak includes bonus videoclip: Bleed Me Dry.
Digital edition on I-tunes includes the exclusive bonus track “Mistaken”.
“We are currently planning new gigs here in Sweden and in Europe and we are soon flying to Paris, France and Cologne, Germany to do promotion for Radio, Tv and Magazines. There lots of ideas floating around but we must be smart and make the best out of the time we have right now. We are also planning to write new songs next year together with Jesper Strömblad from In Flames for our next album, that will be big fun!” concludes Angelica Rylin.
THE MURDER OF MY SWEET races ahead with an unforgettable thrill of your lifetime flavour. And whatever you do – don’t miss the show!

When you think of southern rock, a few legendary names come to mind: Lynyrd Skynyrd, ZZ Top, the Allman Brothers. There’s no doubt that Blackberry Smoke will climb the ranks and land on this list one day. This quintet from Atlanta, Georgia is taking the southern rock world by storm with their authentic, down home southern rock. Their sophomore release, Little Piece of Dixie, is 11 songs of good ol’ fashioned rock with just enough outlaw country to make it twang. I recently caught up with singer/guitarist, Charlie Starr, in between recording with “The Possum” himself and a sold out show in Ohio.
HRH:. Tell me about how you guys all came together. Were you guys in different bands? Did you always play southern rock?
BBS: Brit, Richard and I were in a band for a few years with another singer. That situation didn’t work
out, so we left his band and started banging around as a trio. We quickly realized that it would be hard for a three piece band to win a fight with a five or six piece, so we added another guitar player. I ran into Paul, my old goofball buddy, playing in a little bar in LaGrange, Ga. He joined the band and here we are. We’ve all played different types of music, I guess, but this is pretty much the sound that is made when we play together. It just kinda comes naturally I guess. We play the sounds to fit the songs and if it’s comfortable, we roll on.
HRH: How did you come up with your name?
BBS: We were having problems coming up with a name and asked our long time friends Steve Gorman and Chris Robinson to help. After several weeks of both ridiculous and hilarious suggestions, Chris came up with THE BLACKBERRY SMOKE. So we were off and running.
HRH: Tell me about your new album, Little Piece of Dixie. How would you compare it to your first album, Bad Luck Ain’t No Crime?
BBS: I’d say the new album is us picking up where we left off. Once again we didn’t spend a lot of time over thinking the recording process. I’m afraid of what might happen if we find ourselves with a shit load of time to spend in the studio! Maybe a triple concept album.
HRH: Blackberry Smoke is a good mix of good old fashioned rock & roll and good old fashioned country. Who are some of your influences from both genres?
BBS: Short list: Stones, Little Feat, Skynyrd, Allman Bros., Marshall Tucker, Gram Parsons, Crowes, Satellites, Four Horsemen, Free, Humble Pie, Frankie Miller…Bill Monroe, Jimmy Martin, Stanley Bros., Hank Williams, George Jones, Waylon Jennings, Merle Haggard, Willie Nelson, Steve Earle, Flatt n Scruggs, Johnny Cash, Marty Stuart!
HRH: Do you think this sound has hindered you in any way since some may feel the band is too country for rock and too rock for country?
BBS: It has kept the people away that we really shouldn’t be working with anyway.
HRH: You recently recorded a song with George Jones and Jamey Johnson. What song did you record and how did this come about? How was it working with country legend George Jones?
BBS: We recorded “Yesterday’s Wine.” I was listening to Merle and George’s duet of the song, and I called Jamey and asked if he would record it with us. He said he would love to! I called the guys from Bama Jam records and told them about the idea. They loved it and said they would mention it to Mr. George Jones. They did and he loved it! He showed up at the studio, and the rest is history. Unbelievable. Thank you Mr. Jones and Mr. Johnson!
HRH: You have had the opportunity to work with a lot of legends. You’ve toured with Lynyrd Skynyrd and ZZ Top. You’ve shared the stage with tons of people including Ricky Medlock and Slash. And now you’ve recorded with George Jones. Does working with such amazing artists intimidate you or just make you work harder? Is there one moment that stands out from the rest?
BBS: All of those opportunities are so amazing, it’s impossible to single one out. I love the fact that all those guys are still such music lovers.
HRH: You are going over to Europe in December. Have you played over there before? Are you excited?
BBS: We are VERY excited to go and play Europe. We have never played in Europe before and feel like it is time to go over and do some exploring.
HRH: You have been on the Lynyrd Skynyrd Simple Man cruise and the Rock Boat and seem to be permanent fixtures on both. How did you guys get on these cruises and what do you think is the secret to your success since you are one of the very few bands who are invited back every year? Are there any other cruises in your future? Do you like one cruise better than the other?
BBS: We were asked to be on the cruise by the great Lynyrd Skynyrd band. We had such a great experience the very first time and were asked back on the next Skynyrd cruise and offered a spot on the ROCK BOAT!
HRH: You have quite a nice collection of guitars. Can you tell me how you acquired some of them? For example: the Les Paul Jr., the carved Telecaster, and the Dan Armstrong.
BBS: I bought the Junior about 15 years ago. It was one of Rick Richards from the Georgia Satellites’ guitars. The carved Tele came from my old buddy Ted Lathangue in Atlanta. He got it from Haggis of The Four Horsemen. I’ve since become friends with Haggis and he told me the story of when the guitar was built and later carved. If I told you, I’d have to kill you. The clear Dan Armstrong is a gift from the coolest guitar player on the planet, the one and only Rev. Billy F. Gibbons! Thank you Billy G., Haggis and Rick!
HRH: What made you decide to add Brandon on the keys?
BBS: We have always wanted keyboards on recordings and as a permanent fixture. All of our favorite bands have piano and B-3 throughout their songs. We just couldn’t fit anyone else in our van in the beginning!
HRH: Who does most of the writing? And what is your writing process? Do you actually sit down with the intent of writing a song, or does it just come to you?
BBS: I write most of them at my house, then take em to Brit’s house where we all arrange them in ‘lectrified form. The last couple of years, we’ve made some great songwriter buddies and have all collaborated and written a bunch of great songs, in my opinion. I guess there’s no specific process, they just come when they come. Whether we’re all together, or with a collaborator, or I’m by myself.
HRH: Which one of your songs is your favorite and why?
BBS: I have several favorites at any given time. Today they are “We Got Company”, “I’d Be Lyin”, “Everybody Knows She’s Mine”, and “Ain’t Much Left of Me”.
HRH: What bands/music are you listening to you now?
BBS: Frankie Miller live @ the BBC. Grateful Dead Europe ’72. Jimmie Rodgers Standing on the Corner. Willie and the Family Live. And always, Exile on Main St.

KEEL – the band that gave you “The Right To Rock” – will unleash their brand new album “Streets Of Rock & Roll” ” on January 29th 2010 in Europe and February 9th in the USA on Frontiers Records.
The new recording contains twelve new rock anthems in the tradition of KEEL’s classic “The Final Frontier,” “KEEL,” and “Lay Down The Law” albums: commercial Hard Rock featuring the twin-guitar attack of Marc Ferrari and Bryan Jay, drummer Dwain Miller and bassist Geno Arce’s rock solid groove, Ron Keel’s powerful vocals, and a collection of songs which the band feels is their best ever.
“We are not re-inventing our style – “Streets Of Rock & Roll” is a perfect follow-up to our previous albums,” says Ron Keel presenting the new album. “The only real evolution is in the quality of the songwriting, musicianship, and production; the excitement and energy of the reunion really ignited our creativity and Marc, Bryan, and I were able to collaborate as a songwriting team like we’ve never done before. One characteristic this album shares with our classic releases is diversity – there are power anthems, relentless metal, and commercial hard rock. Some of the songs are designed to make you pump your fist and stomp your feet, some have lyrical content that is a little deeper and aims for the heart. There is a power ballad, “Does Anybody Believe” which I think is an instant classic and will be a very important song for us, one of those rare compositions that capture magic and translates it into words and music.”
KEEL first exploded onto the scene when “The Right To Rock,” their major label debut produced by Gene Simmons of KISS, became the fastest-selling debut album in A&M Records’ history. Frontiers Records will commemorate the 25th anniversary of this historic release with “The Right To Rock: 25th Anniversary Edition” simultaneously with “Streets Of Rock & Roll”. This newly remastered edition adds two bonus tracks: “Easier Said than Done (Remix)” and a newly recorded version of the immortal Metal anthem “The Right to Rock” (click on the title to hear a sample). For this recording, KEEL invited their fans to participate via the internet – KEELaholics could download a guide track, sing along with the chorus, and send in an MP3 to be blended with the all-star chorus of the song which also features Paul Shortino (Rough Cutt, Quiet Riot), Lez Warner (The Cult), Ron Mancuso (Beggars & Thieves) and other members of the Las Vegas rock scene (even Graham Russell from Air Supply joined in)!
KEEL has sold over 2 million albums, garnering a reputation as one of the genre’s most entertaining live acts by touring with/opening for Bon Jovi, Van Halen, Aerosmith, Motley Crue, and many more. They were unanimously hailed as 1985’s “Best New Band” in publications such as Circus, Metal Edge, and Hit Parader, and released three charting albums which spawned radio & MTV hits such as “Because The Night,” “Tears Of Fire,” “Somebody’s Waiting” and of course “The Right To Rock.”
In 2009 KEEL returned stronger than ever with festival appearances across the U.S. at Rocklahoma, the M3 Festival, the South Texas Rock Festival, and the MidWest RockFest in addition to sold-out headline shows in Hollywood and Phoenix. The excitement and energy of these shows and the fans’ response fuelled the creative fires that spawned “Streets Of Rock & Roll” and led to the band’s union with Frontiers Records. “We’re working on festival dates in the U.S. and Europe for 2010 and we’re ready to rock when opportunity knocks” explains Ron, adding “I can’t emphasize enough how much depends on sales – the more copies of “Streets Of Rock & Roll” and “The Right To Rock: 25th Anniversary Edition” we sell, the more attractive we are to concert promoters and venues who can help us get back on stage where we belong – so we’re hoping that fans of commercial hard rock will embrace these albums and add them to their collection.”
The new album was produced by Pat Regan (KISS, Deep Purple, Warrant, and many others) and features guest background vocals by Jaime St. James (Black N Blue, Warrant) and Paul Shortino, who produced and recorded Ron’s lead vocal tracks.
“The feeling in the band is triumphant,” concludes Ron Keel. ”We’ve been back together for over a year now, we’ve got some great shows under our belt, and the new album is finished and ready for release. We are thankful to all the fans for the incredible response to the reunion, and we’re very proud of our new music. We can move forward with the confidence that we’ve accomplished a lot of our goals and done it on our own terms.” KEEL is confident that Hard Rock fans everywhere are going to feel right at home on the “Streets Of Rock & Roll”, and plans are underway to promote this new release with shows around the world in the year to come.
“Streets Of Rock & Roll” tracklisting includes: Streets Of Rock & Roll; Hit The Ground Running; Come Hell Or High Water; Push & Pull; Does Anybody Believe; No More Lonely Nights; The Devil May Care (But I Don’t); Lookin’ For A Good Time; Gimme That; Hold Steady; Live; Brothers In Blood.
