UK based Intervurt has signed with FOF Label Group/EMI for the March 23rd, 2010 release of their upcoming debut album, “Union.” The group is currently streaming tracks from the album online at: www.myspace.com/intervurtrocks
“We are all really excited about this record and have an excellent team of people here at FOF/EMI. We love the States and can’t wait to unleash our British rock on the American public,” commented Intervurt guitarist Mark Alberici. “I think our music could work with a number of different audiences and people who like The Strokes or White Stripes could get into the album just as easily as someone who likes AC/DC or U2. We really worked hard to create music that wasn’t limited by boundaries and I think we achieved that.”
The 5-piece known as Intervurt has already begun making waves with their brand of melodic rock that has drawn comparisons to The Killers and U2. The group mixes infectious melodies with the dark brooding atmosphere of groups like Depeche Mode and Muse, and the powerful riffage of Queens of the Stoneage. The group somehow manages to blend everything together and create a unique sound that had the BBC Music proclaim, “This band is going to be huge.” The group’s electrifying stage show has earned them shows alongside The Strokes and The Raconteurs, as well as appearing at the O2 Wireless Festival in Hyde Park, Get Loaded In The Park, Beautiful Days, Guilfest, Bestival, The Great Escape, and In The City.
Intervurt’s debut album was recorded at Jimi Hendrix’s Electric Lady Studios (David Bowie, The Rolling Stones) in New York City and was produced by Mark Plati (David Bowie, Prince, The Cure) and Tom McKay (Joydrop).
BlACK LABEL SOCIETY FEATURING GUITAR ICON ZAKK WYLDE, BLS’S NEW ALBUM IS DUE OUT SUMMER 2010
E1 Music announces the addition of guitar icon Zakk Wylde’s band, Black Label Society, to its rock and metal roster. The two album deal covers North America exclusively.
Wylde formed Black Label Society (BLS) in 1994 as a vehicle for his own artistic vision: uncompromising, unfiltered, no bullshi* rock’n’roll. The band quickly became a touring juggernaut and went on to release seven successful studio albums which have sold well over a million and a half albums total.
Wylde has been no stranger to success over the years. At only 19 years old, he was tapped to join Ozzy Osbourne’s band as lead guitarist and co-writer. He performed with Osbourne for nearly twenty years. While under Osbourne’s tutelage, he formed Black Label Society and in the decade since, BLS has turned the notion of what a rock band should be upside down by inspiring legions of fans (known as Berserkers) all over the world to follow the mantra: Strength, Determination, Merciless, Forever. SDMF for short, the Berserkers, along with Wylde have created a heavy metal institution true to his vision of uncompromising, unfiltered and unrestrained rock and roll.
E1 Music VP of Metal Scott Givens comments on the deal, “Rarely does the opportunity come along to sign an artist as talented, influential and important as Zakk Wylde. I am thrilled to welcome him to the E1 Music Group. He is the future of our company and all of us are battle ready to go to the wall for him.”
Zakk Wylde said about the pairing, “I’ve known Scott Givens since I first joined Ozzy, and we’ve always looked for an opportunity to work together…everything came together at E1. I cannot wait to bring new BLS Nationwide on E1!”
Black Label Society will release a new studio album in late summer 2010. The band will also embark on its annual BLACK LABEL BASH tour in the fall.
“Alice In Chains Pack 02” will feature “Your Decision” and “Last of My Kind” from the new album, Black Gives Way to Blue, as well as classic Alice In Chains songs “Grind”, “Heaven Beside You”, and “We Die Young”.
The pack will be available beginning Jan 12 for Xbox 360 and Wii, and Jan 14 on Playstation 3.

Veteran guitar legend Joe Satriani, one of the world’s most renowned instrumental artists, recorded Live in Paris: I Just Wanna Rock! on May 27, 2008 at The Grand Rex Theater in Paris, France. The brand new live two-disc CD and DVD will be released on February 2, 2010 through Epic Records.
This very special recording captures Satriani’s stirring performance with memorable songs such as, “Surfing With The Alien”, “Flying in a Blue Dream”, along with recent hits like “Super Colossal” and “I Just Wanna Rock.” The quality of music by the 15-time Grammy nominee is unquestionable, yet the extraordinary editing and artful stage lighting makes this Satriani “live” DVD a pleasure for the new viewer, as well as the long-time fan. The Live in Paris: I Just Wanna Rock! DVD will also include a very special bonus in-depth interview with Satriani as well as exclusive behind-the-scenes footage.
The new year will find Satriani out on the road as part of the “Experience Hendrix” tour. Joe will join fellow musical peers, Billy Cox, Sacred Steel & Robert Randolph, Jonny Lang, Eric Johnson, Kenny Wayne Shepherd, Ernie Isley, Brad Whitford, Doyle Bram Hall II, Living Colour, Hubert Sumlin, and Chris Layton, on a full U.S. tour beginning March 4th in Santa Barbara and continuing throughout the month.
Joe commented “I finally get to pay tribute to my hero the right way, on stage with an amazing, once in a lifetime, line up of musicians!”
Over the last two decades, Satriani has traveled the world, playing to sold-out crowds as both a headliner and as founder of the all-star “G3” guitar extravaganza. Of his 14 solo albums two went platinum and four gold with 15 Grammy nominations between them. In 2009, Satriani joined with former Van Halen front man Sammy Hagar, former bassist Michael Anthony, and Red Hot Chili Peppers’ drummer Chad Smith, to form the stand out rock collaboration, Chickenfoot. Their debut self-titled album was recently certified gold by the Recording Industry Association of America with over 500,000 in album shipments.

Today is the 19th Anniversary of the death of former Def Leppard guitarist Steve Clark.

We Miss You Steve!!
One of the harder to find CD’s in my collection is the debut effort by hard rockers Johnny Crash. This CD has been out of print forever and brings down big bucks on Ebay and Amazon.com. Finding a copy of it in 2010 will be a daunting task for any hard rocker. I finally tracked down a copy of this CD last year, after searching for this for months.
Was it worth the wait, and all of the searching? Absolutely!! Neighbourhood Threat kicks ass. Once upon a time I owned this cassette, but never replaced it on CD. It is every bit as good as I remembered it to be.
This band was fronted by former Tokyo Blade singer Vicki James Wright. If you haven’t ever heard him sing before, he has a cool raspy voice that fits this music to a tee. Fans of bands like Rhino Bucket, Dirty Looks and AC/DC are going to love this CD. This is sleazy good blues rock that does not disappoint. The band had a modest hit on MTV with “Hey Kid”, but like many of their peers in the ’90’s, Johnny Crash has little to no label support, and they broke up. They did release a follow up effort, Unfinished Business a couple of years ago, but it is not even in the same class as Neighborhoud Threat.
While the music on this disc is far from original, it is extremely good. There truly isn’t a bad song on this CD, as a result it is highly sought after release. Buy it, if you can find it! Happy Hunting!

Vocalist, bassist, and founding member John Gallagher comments; “We are ecstatic – we go way back with Metal Blade (we’ve known Brian since meeting him backstage at one of our shows in the UK in 1982!!!) so there’s mutual respect. We feel that having this killer new album Walk Through Fire and a relationship with Metal Blade, an outfit that lives and breathes this music – that UNDERSTANDS where we have been and what we’ve been through, will show that we are not trading on past glories but that we are a band that continues to be relevant…and kicks ass more than ever before! We’ve set the bar high here with this album and are happy to have a partner willing to get it out there to the metal fans and spread the word. This is the RAVEN album the diehards have been beating us up for…and then some!”
Metal Blade Record’s Michael Faley comments; “We are excited and proud to be releasing the new album by RAVEN entitled Walk Through Fire! This record has garnered tremendous reviews worldwide and combines all the strength and power that only the Gallagher brothers can deliver, Rock Solid METAL! With a career that has spanned over 25 years, RAVEN is back with a CLASSIC album.”
According to the pages of the various metal media, the labels “LEGENDARY,” “INNOVATIVE,” “TRUE ORIGINALS,” as well as “F**K!ING CRAZY!!” have been rightfully pinned upon RAVEN over the years. In a music scene filled by clones nurtured with a cookie-cutter mentality, the unique personality, power and humor of the three band members has always shone through. The crazed vocals & bass playing of John Gallagher, the full frontal guitar assault of brother Mark Gallagher, and the punishing polyrhythmic pounding of drummer Joe Hasselvander all combine to form a sonic battering ram unique in rock!
From the well documented early days as NWOBHM (New Wave of British Heavy Metal) frontrunners, RAVEN’s albums ROCK UNTIL YOU DROP, WIPED OUT and ALL FOR ONE virtually invented both the speed metal and power metal genres – during the trailblazing USA tours of the 80’s introducing the States to “Athletic rock” as well as giving opening acts like Metallica and Anthrax their first tours, through the doldrums of the late 80’s/early 90’s when a grunge obsessed media wrote off so many acts — RAVEN has consistently proved to be both survivors par excellence and in a genre of grim imitation – shown that they are “the real thing”. Where so many of their contemporaries have either faded creatively or become parodies of themselves, RAVEN have consistently pushed the envelope while retaining their unique sound and attack – both in the studio & in their true element, onstage!
Following a forced layoff through half of the last decade due to Mark Gallagher’s long recuperation from a serious accident where Mark’s legs were crushed after a wall collapsed on the musician, the band have fought back with a number of European festival appearances, a UK tour in 2008 and a triumphant jaunt to Japan in 2009.
And now, the band unleashes the best album they’ve done in many years, Walk Through Fire – this, quite simply, is the real deal – the right songs, the right sound and the right feel – guaranteed to rip yer head off! – Raven are finally set to reclaim the title that is rightfully theirs – “the wildest band in the f**kin’ world!!”
John Gallagher – vocals & bass
Mark Gallagher – guitars
Joe Hasselvander – drums

New Solo Instrumental LEGIONNAIRE Out NOW on Phlamencore Records
EXCLUSIVE TO ITUNES FOR JANUARY – CD AVAILABLE FEBRUARY 1ST
Marc Rizzo once again has stepped out from his six-string tour of duty with SOULFLY and CAVALERA CONSPIRACY to deliver his new solo project, LEGIONAIRE on Phlamencore Records. This new albums reveals a phenomenal command of the guitar that Rizzo has become known for.
LEGIONNAIRE was written and recorded over a two year period, while touring worldwide with SOULFLY and CAVALERA CONSPIRACY. Having time to write this record while on the road and in between tours, Rizzo would break and get into the studio to record, then back out on the road. “I’m really excited about this record”, exclaims Rizzo. “I had a lot of time since my last record to really think about this new album. I think traveling all over the world, writing all the new material, really influenced the sound. After two U.S. solo tours in 2008, I think I really figured out what songs work well live. I’m really excited to play these new songs in front of a live audience. It’s very cool to see kids slam dancing and going off to instrumental music.”
Rizzo is touted a master musician with deep musical roots in metal, classical and flamenco guitar. His raw energy combined with the talent of a new-generation shred-master is a much needed breath of fresh air to the instrumental rock genre.

I have been wondering for years why the Sgt. Roxx EP Push N Squeeze was capturing such high dollars on Ebay over the years. This highly sought after CD, has pulled down hundreds of dollars for a single copy. Thanks to Eonian Records, I will wonder no more. Weapon of Miss Distraction has all off the songs from the hard to find EP and thirteen more (gasp!). With over 70 minutes of music on one CD, this is a great value for a hair metal fan.
The six songs from the EP are all solid tunes. They remind me a lot of another Eonian band High Noon that I am pretty fond of. The power ballad “Don’t Cry” is quite good as well. If this would have been released back in the late 80’s, the band could have had a hit with this. I got a pretty good laugh out of the tune “Alright”. This is pure hair metal cheese, but a fun song at that. “Ransom” is another kick ass rocker that I will get plenty of replay out of. I also got a kick out of “(Don’t Do) What Your Mama Sayz”.
Overall, if you are expecting to hear something new, you won’t find on Weapon of Miss Distraction. By no means are the songs on this CD worth the big money that Ebay has attracted over the years. If you are looking for some above average hair metal, then you definitely need to get this.

Blaze Bayley’s second studio album ‘Promise and Terror’ will be released on the band’s own label – Blaze Bayley Recordings – on 1 February 2010 and distributed by Plastic Head. ‘Promise and Terror’ is available to pre-order from the band’s website only until 18 January 2010 with all pre-orders signed by the band.
The accompanying World Tour kicks off at JB’s in Dudley, UK on 6th February 2010. European & South American tour dates have now been confirmed and further dates and countries will be announced shortly.
On 25 September 2009 the book ‘At The End Of The Day’ written by the band’s drummer, Lawrence Paterson, was released. This follows the story of ‘Blaze’ Bayley Cooke from Wolfsbane to Iron Maiden to BLAZE and, ultimately, to the current self-titled Blaze Bayley band. The first run of 500 copies of the book has now sold out but there are plans to reprint the book later in the year.
The double live album ‘The Night That Will Not Die’, recorded at Z7, Switzerland, was released in the summer of 2009; all audio mixed and mastered by producer Jase Edwards.
During the recording sessions for their new album “Consciousness”, which was released through F.O.F Label Group/EMI earlier this year, Smile Empty Soul recorded a cover of Nirvana’s “Aneurysm”. The track has never been released before and is now availible as an exclusive FREE download through AOL music at http://aolradio.podcast.aol.com/aolmusic/mp3s/smileemptysoul_aneurysm.mp3 “Nirvana was one of our biggest influences growing up,” commented Smile Empty Soul’s Sean Danielsen. “Nirvana was just one of those ‘voice of a generation’ type bands that we all loved, so we would cover this song live once in a while to do something cool for fans. We never planned on recording it, but when were in the studio making ‘Consciousness’ our manager said we should do a cover and this one immediately jumped out. We recorded it pretty true to the original and hopefully we did it justice.”
Smile Empty Soul re-released their long lost sophomore album, “Anxiety”, digitally only through ITunes and other digital retailers on November 10th. Anxiety’s 17 tracks were originally recorded in 2005 as the follow-up to the group’s gold certified 2003 self-titled debut. The album is currently on sale though iTunes for $9.99 at http://itunes.apple.com/us/album/anxiety/id338004197

Nuclear Blast’s latest signee Mustasch is far from a household name in the U.S., but I am hoping that the band’s major label debut may change that. While Mustasch’s fifth effort does not have a U.S. Release date as of yet, it is available as an import, and is a hard rock release that you will not want to miss. With a sound that is like a blend of the Cult & Soundgarden, Mustasch has blasted out eleven more rockers that you need to hear.
Ralf Gyllenhammer’s mohawk might be gone, but this guy hasn’t stopped rocking one bit. His vocals are razor sharp, and helps drive this songs home on this CD. If you haven’t heard him sing before, you are truly missing out.
The opening prelude track “Tritonus” sounds like it fell out of Tony Iommi’s closet full of riffs. This leads into two great crunch rockers, “Hersey Blasphemy” and “Mine” (see video below). “Damn It’s Dark” would sound amazing on U.S. Radio, and the heavy riffs of “The Man The Myth The Wreck” practically demand headbanging.
The pace slows down somewhat for “The Audience is Listening”. This ready ready tune provides a nice break, but still rocks hard. The first song that I didn’t really care for is “Desolate”. The music on this song just didn’t work for me. Luckily, “Deep In The Woods” picks back up where “The Audience is Listening” left off. This is the type of song that you want to crank up, and rip the knob off. If you liked the Mustasch tune “Double Nature” you are definitely going to like this too.
“I’m Frustrated” is a slower number with a Zeppelin like vibe to it. It is a lot different from the other tunes on this disc, but it is cool nonetheless!
I have been a fan of Mustasch since discovering their previous release “Latest Version of the Truth” in 2007. I have been anxious to get my hands on this CD, and it does not disappoint in the least bit. You can import this CD from Amazon UK for about 17.99 U.S., it should also be available for download via Amazon and iTunes soon. It is definitely worth the high price of admission.
In my opinion, Mustasch is far too good to be a European only hard rock band. I am hoping with their recent signing to Nuclear Blast that they will soon find their way to U.S. soil. Don’t miss out on this excellent CD!

The first Monday of the new year needs to rock. Check out Black Stone Cherry’s video, “Yeah Man.
This song is on the special edition of the Folklore & Superstition CD that was released last June.
There were so many good releases that came out in 2009, I am afraid that a few bands got overlooked. One such act is San Diego rock band, Thieves & Liars, and their sophomore effort, American Rock ‘N’ Roll.
On American Rock ‘N’ Roll, Thieves & Liars strayed away from the concept album of their debut, and went for a more straight forward hard rock approach. As a result, they have put together another solid album, that might have more mainstream appeal than their excellent debut. On American Rock ‘N’ Roll, the touches of Pink Floyd are gone, but the bluesy hard rock influences of Led Zeppelin, is clearly obvious in their music.
While the title track, “American Rock N Roll” is very good, it was the high octane rockers “Let’s Rock” and “Walking By My Side” that immediately hooked me. ‘Till the Walls Fall Down” seems like a cliched title me, but the song flat out rocks. I love the bluesy slide guitar of “Killed A Man”. The super catchy “Promised Land” is going to be a song that I replay a lot this year.
My only problem with this CD is that it is a little short, clocking in just over 34 minutes. Overall, this is solid release, and a great way to start out 2010.

Broken Teeth spits out “Viva la Rock, Fantastico!” January 26 on Perris Records
Once again, Diablo Rockers Broken Teeth are playing with fire on the release of their hell-stomping new album, “Viva la Rock, Fantastico!”….
Featuring 13 all-new tracks and cameo vocals by Canadian compadre, Danko Jones, “Viva la Rock, Fantastico!” (Perris Records) was written on the road during Broken Teeth’s 2008-2009 “Blood on the Road Tour.” As expected, the fifth release from the hard-bitten Texas head-knockers is torn from the same hellraiser’s hymnal that gave us the likes of Motorhead, AC/DC, Rhino Bucket and other wheels-of-steel rockers…..
“Some of these songs were written in the back of the bus, some were written in hotel rooms and others were written in the darker corners of life on the road,” said Broken Teeth vocalist Jason McMaster. “Inspiration is at its finest when it’s covered in grease, sweat and blood.”….
“Viva la Rock, Fantastico!” is another evil sermon of devilish delights and rock-altar anthems. From the torch-fire, rat-a-tat blast of “Blackheart” and the frantic missile-scream of “Dressin’ Up in Flames” to the nervous shakedown of “Break the Spell,” and the aptly titled “Exploder,” “Viva la Rock, Fantastico!” finds Broken Teeth’s six-string pitchfork attack taking equal jabs at feverish fun (“Twister” and “Bullet”) and pleasurable pain (“Spitting Nails” and “Get Outta Here Alive”)…..
“This is the first Broken Teeth album written by the band’s current lineup,” McMaster said. “In a sense, it marks a new beginning while still maintaining our signature sound. We definitely get the fists in the air, but we also like to give the girls a little something to grind to. If it ain’t down-and-dirty, it ain’t rock-n-roll.”….
Helping Broken Teeth fan the “Fantastico!” flames is blood-sweating Canadian rocker, Danko Jones. The rock-n-roll outlaw from the Great White North lends backup vocals to the album’s tequila-spiked title track as well as the shout-along stormer, “Big Spender.” ….
“I met a Broken Teeth fan from Scotland online and she sent me some CDs of upcoming new music,” McMaster explained. “One of the CDs was Danko Jones. I shit myself! I knew there was real rock-n-roll out there somewhere and I had finally found it. A few years later, Danko was coming through Austin with Turbonegro. I went to the show, introduced myself, gave Danko some CDs and stayed in touch. A few years later, he’s singing on my music.”….
Broken Teeth formed in Austin, Texas, in 1999 when McMaster (Watchtower and Dangerous Toys) recruited former members of Dangerous Toys, Dirty Looks and Pariah for a side project that allowed band members to have some fun indulging their dirty rock influences including AC/DC, Rose Tattoo, Circus of Power and The Four Horsemen. More than a decade later, Broken Teeth has firmly established its own tattered and frayed identity with a discography that includes the self-titled debut, “Guilty Pleasure,” “Blood on the Radio” and “Electric.” ….
As new track “Back on the Road,” makes clear, “Viva la Rock, Fantastico!” will keep Broken Teeth spitting the gospel of rock-n-roll !….
