Put the pedal to the metal, pump your fists in the air and prepare to surpass maximum overdrive as Cockpit heads to Austin for Texas Rockfest March 17 and 18. The festival dates are in the midst of a Southwest tour in support of Mission To Rock, the band’s tougher-than-nails debut EP.
Fueled by authoritative riffs and stadium-size choruses, Mission To Rock has been declared “a slamming dose of metallic hard rock” by Metal Edge magazine. “Plenty of loud, smoking guitars, powerhouse drums, and dirty, filthy bass lines not to mention [lead vocalist] Linda Lou’s arena ready vocals” has compelled online music authority Hard Rock Hideout to bet “if you called them a girl band one of them would punch you in the face and keep on walking.”
Fans who caught Cockpit on the band’s winter West Coast outing with The Supersuckers will be happy to see guest lead guitarist Stephanie Pickard return to the lineup as a permanent member replacing Alicia Blü, who has made the difficult decision to take a break from music and focus on school.
“Festivals are always so much fun for the fans and the bands performing. We had the best time ever playing Rocklahoma and Rock The Bayou in Houston so we can’t wait for Texas Rockfest!” affirms Linda Lou.
The Heart of Texas Quadruple Bypass Music Festival, better known as Texas Rockfest, features the best in unsigned talent that Austin and the surrounding southwest region have to offer, as well as some of the best indie artists from across America and beyond. Launched in March 2000, the festival started humbly with one venue and sixteen bands in downtown Austin. Now in its 11th year, the 2010 Texas Rockfest will boast hundreds of indie acts on four downtown outdoor stages. The event is strategically scheduled to coincide with Austin’s annual South by Southwest (SXSW) Interactive Media, Film and Music Festival.
